Chapter 22: Chapter 22: The YOUTH!
"Alright, that should do it. I know it's probably useless to say this but… please try and NOT overexert yourself." Shin sighed as he had just completed bandaging a fractured arm and several cuts throughout the patient's body. The patient wore a tight green suit with a standard Konoha ninja vest, a bob cut and thick eyebrows. "You need not worry my young friend!" the teenager spoke in a loud and vibrant voice, "I assure you, I'll be back to my prime in no time!" Shin could feel his blood pressure rising as he opened his mouth to speak but was instantly cut off by the man, "Because I have the power of YOUTH!" Shin gave an exasperated sigh, 'How does his teeth even shine like that? Is that some sort of jutsu?'
"I think that's quite enough for 1 day, let's go." A calm voice stopped the green beast ofKonoha from continuing. Shin turned to see a spiky white haired guy with a face mask and one eye being covered by the headband. Shin had accidentally run into the duo during one of their "matches" last year and a month later, Kakashi had come in with an injured teammate.Guy had come barging in after somehow finding out that Kakashi was here and for some reason had taken a liking to Shin.
Whenever Guy or one of his teammates were injured, he sought out Shin. When Shin asked about it, all he got was, "Because I can sense the spirit of YOUTH from you my young friend! I'm sure that you'll go far because you have the power of YOUTH!" Just as the duo were leaving and Guy was about to say something about "YOUTH!", a nurse came in to tell Shin that he had another patient. Shin took that chance to escape, 'Man, that Guy has way too much energy!' as Shin was walking through the hospital hallways, dodging the hurrying staff and the passing patients and worried family members, he thought to their stats. 'Kakashi is Level 96 with a +30 and a -5 while Guy is straight up level 123. No wonder they are regarded as two of the strongest ninjas in the village While I'm still hovering in the 50s.' Shin sighed deeply at his slow progress.
Shin had all but stopped going to missions, most of his time was spent between the sealing corps and the hospital. He had celebrated his 9th birthday 2 months ago but his level was still only 55 but since both of these techniques required a high level of Chakra control, Shin's chakra control had been perfected and reached the same level as his Chakra. Not to mention that there was another reason that Shin insisted on staying at the hospital, 'Assal, what's the status of the genetic registry?'

What was Shin doing? Well turns out his system is not as useless as he thought. When he had checked the Hokage's status, the system had told him that it could run a more detailed analysis if it had a genetic sample. This made Shin brainstorm and figure out that if he had enough genetic data, he might be able to force some physical mutations in his body to forcefully improve their upper limits.
This new discovery opened many doors for him, he could for example use the genetic data from the Uchiha clan to gain the powers of Sharingan and if he got the genetic data from every descendant of Kaguya, he could theoretically evolve into a higher being equal to the Otsutsuki. And what better place to collect genetic samples than the place where people from the whole village gathered and willingly let others collect their blood samples? It was a short term loss and long term gain strategy.
Shin reached the checkup room and entered, only to be surprised when he saw the occupants, "Yukia? What's wrong? Did you forget to dodge the Shurikens again?" The girl turned red and pouted, "I didn't forget! And it's not me, it's my father!" she pointed to the middle aged man as he lightly smiled while looking at the children. Shin saw him clutching the side of his stomach and moved in closer to check, "Did you forget to dodge the shuriken?" he asked while checking the injury. The man smiled "No, it was a kunai." he chuckled.
"No bleeding or internal injuries, someone did a good job with first aid." Shin complimented before continuing, "You didn't have to ask for me, there are more experienced doctors that you could've called." as he went through a routine, disinfection, medicine, bandage. "Oh no need to sell yourself short, I've heard of the young genius medical nin. They are comparing you to Lady Tsunade." the man parised while Shin gave a humble smile, "Oh you over-praise me. I have a long way to go." The man smiled and shook his head, "Don't sell yourself short, people will think you're just being haughty! Besides, the way talks about you, as if you're the next Hokage!" the man laughed a bit before the girl punched him in the arm with a beat red face, "Father! I didn't say anything like that!" the girl complained.
The treatment was quick, much to Yukia's relife, Shin gave the two of them the sage advice of "try dodging next time." which seemed to really amuse the older man. "Niceto meet you Shin, oh I almost forgot, do you know what happened to Okani? He was much worse than me." the man asked in worry but Shin reassured him and promised to check up on the man himself.
Shin made his way to the reception and tracked the injured Uchiha to the emergency room where he lay unconscious. Shin took his treatment chart and frowned, 'It's the bare minimum.' He put down the chart and started to treat the man himself. 'It's getting worse day by day. Now even the doctors are barely treating them.' Shin was simply appalled by the ongoings and the worsening treatment of the Uchiha by the other villagers. He knew that all of this was just a reflection of how the Konoha leadership was treating the clan and the internal conspiracies that were fueled by Danzo. After the treatment was over, Shin collected his samples and filled up the chart before leaving.
Shin's next stop was the sealing corps headquarters which was located near the Hokage building. Since special seals were considered state secrets to some regard, the building was highly secure and close to the Hokage's office in case of any emergency. This was the place where ninja of many divisions gathered, such as barrier division and intelligence division as this was the place that housed and researched new seals and trained new hires in the techniques used by their respective departments. Most of this had nothing to do with Shin as he was part of the research group that was given free reign to study and experiment.
Shin could spot many ninja's hidden around the place but he was un-bothered and simply walked into the building. Inside, he made his way to the second floor where the library contained many books and scrolls regarding the many fuinjutsu techniques that had been created and gathered by the village over the decades. Naturally it didn't contain the forbidden techniques but it was enough for Shin.
Shin found an empty corner in the library and picked up a scroll from the many cupboards that filled the spacious room and started to read it. His main area of study was contract deals and storage seals. While reading the scroll that depicted the various symbols and characters that were used for highly advanced seals, Shin couldn't help but wonder that many seals used arrows, lines and circles which were not characters, in fact, some very advanced seals didn't use any characters at all but just symbols. 'I wonder, what exactly is it that gives fuinjutsu its power? Even the simplest of the seals don't work when I try to use another language.'
Shin looked at his left arm where he wore a wristguard, the inner side was inscribed with powerful storage seals that allowed Shin quick access to shurikens and kunais. Shin had even been able to incorporate a function where he could retrieve specific items by using different chakra intensities and natures. It was his attempt at making an Inventory for himself but it could only hold simple things like weapons and scrolls.
One of these scrolls was a summoning scroll for Pineapple, after months of trial and error, he had finally succeeded in making it, allowing him to summon his furry cat companion anywhere instantly. Shin's current area of study was the various sealing techniques, fire sealing, evil sealing, Iron wall, etc. In fact, to test his proficiency in the evil sealing technique, the boy had used a simple curse seal on himself. It was a simple c-rank curse that caused emotional instability, luckily he was able to use the evil sealing technique properly and get rid of the curse seal afterwards. Shin didn't wish to do any more experiments with himself for the time being.
After his study by nightfall, Shin left the sealing corps and started to walk back home, his days had become mundane recently, it was the usual routine with a rare mission once or twice a month. In Shin's opinion, it had become rather boring, the charm of being in this fantastical world had worn off and since he already knew the story and the happenings of the future, a feeling of detachment had started to grow within him.
Shin watched the sun set and the village bloom in various colors of the light. Their whispers and jokes of friends as they laughed and chatted, the blushes of young love and the closeness of the mature ones. Lovers walking hand in hand, stealing glances at each other. Shin even saw a purple haired woman drag a beat red man into an alleyway, 'Eh? Wasn't that…'
Shin sneaked next to the alley that hid the passion of two lovers as Shin watched in secret, 'Yup, when did they become a thing?' Shin watched as the passion seemed to ignite and gentle kisses of love threatened to become violent gnaws of obscenity. "Ahem" an unwelcome voice froze the two as they slowly turned towards the source, their eyes wide as they separated, "SHIN!" they yelled at the smirking boy. "Well this is certainly a surprise, though I would suggest getting a room. I don't want both my formal teachers ending up in prison for public indecency. Eh, Fujio sensei and Haruki sensei?"
A short while later, Shin and Pineapple sat at the most expensive barbeque restaurant along with the couple who had graciously decided to "treat" them to a meal. Shin and Pineapple eat their fill of the most premium beef in all of Konoha as the adults watched the duo empty plate after plate with wide mouths and red eyes. Shin had in fact used medical ninjutsu to speed up his metabolism just so he could eat more. Was this cheating? Probably yes. Was this healthy? Definitely not. But was this amusing? Definitely yes!
"So I heard you've become rather well known as a medical ninjutsu huh Shin?" Haruki spoke while his bleeding heart and wallet ordered another plate of meat. The boy paused his constant food intake to look at the man, "Really? I Didn't know that." The man looked at the boy afiremed, "Yah, you are. Definitely known as a prodigy in the field. Not To mention, you have also started to learn fuinjutsu, you were always talented in it, even in the academy." the man parised. "Guess so." Shin simply went back to goring on the food.
The purple haired woman saw Shin and sighed, "Shin I know you are talented but don't you think you are stretching yourself too thin? Won't it be better to focus on 1 field of study instead of doing everything?" Shin looked at the woman and nodded, "Yuip, but I'mjust trying to cover all the bases. Imagine dying because you couldn't break out of a seal or your teammates dying because you didn't know medical ninjutsu?" Shin argued as the two adults looked at each other, they had experienced such things before so they couldn't refute his words. In the end the duosighed and Haruki relented, "Alright, but don't burden yourself too much. You're still young, I'm sure you'll become a great ninja in a few years. Don't spend all your time working and instead hang out with friends and make wonderful memories." the man offered his sagely advice.
After a while, they serrated and Shin and PIneapple started to walk back home as the boy pondered Haruki's words, 'Time is the one thing I don't have sensei, soon monsters in the shape of men are going to rear their ugly heads and I am not going to leave my fate up to two closeted teensagers.' Shin looked up and saw the brilliant moon in the sky, illuminating the whole world, 'Not to mention the literal demons falling from the sky. I have to get stronger in every aspect.' the boy vowed to himself.
"495… 496… 497…" a strained voice caught his attention as he saw a teenager in a tight green suit doing one handed pushups and a smirk bloomed on his face. "Hey there Guy senpai. Did you know that Kakashi senpai has a really powerful jutsu from the 4th Hokage?" "What!? He does!? I must see it!" The man jumped and started to make his way in a random direction as Shin followed this Kakashi radar.

HermitOfLifeMount Terrible Chapter, I didn't even know what I was writing so I just strung a few things together. But with the useless things checked off my list can finally get started on the next arc.
