Chapter 18: chapter 18- The end?

Jason POV

Growllll

The Alpha pounced on me; its maw opened wide like the gate to hell. I parried it before lifting him and throwing him at the other wolf.

"Boom"

The collision of two wolves was enough to stir up a little sandstorm. The dust rose in the air, swirling in the air. My senses assessed the environment and my enemies, thinking of anything that could give me an advantage. Time slowed down before it resumed.

This time two wolves pounced on me. I blurred and disappeared; both being novice wolves, they couldn't stop and slammed head first into each other.

For a few seconds, they stayed still before they howled in pain. I chuckled, ignored the other two wolves, and set my sight on the vampires. They were very still, and their faces were calm, like they were expecting this result.

I looked into the swirling dust; the Alpha was already in a stance but was not approaching me. I focused a little more and found out that they were thinking of a strategy to take me down.

The wolves wanted to rush at me, but their Alpha was reasoning with them, well not much can be expected from teenage boys.

All through the fight, I was absorbing essence to strengthen myself and making sure my energy reserves were enough.

I decided to go after the vampires since the wolves were too scared. I looked at the vampires, assessing them.

Their faces expressionless, their minds completely still, either no thoughts or some gibberish going through their minds.

"Hmmm". Not knowing the thoughts of your enemies is bothersome. What exactly is their intention with this? They should know they can't beat me.

I finally decided on rushing them, getting into a stance, and launching myself on them. They responded in a well-coordinated attack, with no offensive gift or visual projection useless to me; they only used their physical capabilities; that also wasn't enough.

They were like annoying flies, not giving me enough time to kill one; if I get too close, others will rush to stop me.

"Boom"

As I stomped the Irish coven's male member on the ground, his chest caving in, the ground below exploded in a crater, intending to bury him in it forever. I sent an electrokinetic wave towards his head.

I left myself open there for an instant, allowing the two wolves to tackle me away.

"Kaacch"

With the sound of shattering crystals, I thought my job was done. With a smile on my face, I broke free from the two wolves and rushed to the top of a tree.

Smirking, I looked towards the crater, hoping to see a headless corpse slowly disintegrating away, but reality betrayed me. A girl was lying on top of him; she blocked the fatal headshot for him, and her entire upper body was full of cracks, looking like it would shatter any second.

"Love," I scoffed, rushing there to put the despairing couple in the afterlife, but the Alpha appeared out of nowhere, growling, intending to rip my head off.

"Get lost!" I screamed, blasting my shield and launching him through boulders. It lied motionlessly in a giant crater. Other wolves rushed there to guard him, ignoring them. I rushed towards the male vampire, holding his mate in his hands, her upper body slowly healing, a testament that they fed well before coming here.

"Damn it." I gritted my teeth and rushed there while tearing the wind apart.

There was no one in the way; lightning crackled in one hand, and the other held a solid but flickering shield.

Intending to no longer hold back, I went all out, this game had gone on longer than I thought, not to mention there was an growing feeling of unease, my senses were screaming at me to get out of here, but I suppressed it. No one here could harm me, I was extremely confident of my abilities. I glanced at Zafrina, the source of unease, standing there with her other coven member without any tension on her beautiful face, she was flanked by wolves from both sides, like they were protecting their secret weapon, my eyes narrowed at this, but I focused on the couple.

Finally, they were within my arm's length. I combined both shield and electrokinetic wave to form an unstable but extremely fatal attack, launching it at them. I used my remaining essence to make a tangible shield around me to protect me from any backlash.

And that would become my biggest mistake until now.

Seemingly leaving my mind vulnerable for an instant, but that was enough for the Amazonian woman. Zafrina eyes bore on to my back, slowly losing control of my body. I lost the ability to move my body, my senses going dark and numb. I looked ahead, and the couple was no longer in front of me; they were a good distance away.

The vampire girl on the verge of death was standing on her own two feet now, looking at me with a mocking smirk adorning her pretty face.

The unstable attack in my hand exploded, with my senses going dark, I couldn't control it, my entire body exploded, limbs shattering in the air as they tore through the air.

"Ugh." I concentrated on my head, forming a shield around it. My instincts were screaming at me to protect the skull, so I did just that.

I, who have now become just a head, was lying in some crater, probably a few miles away from the battlefield.

I just needed to bide my time. I can survive and regrow my body as long as I am given enough time.

I was praying to all the gods, hoping they would save me, or maybe my fortune would be good enough to survive. Despite desperately using the shield to mask my scent, I lied still.

"Thud"

"Thud"

"Thud"

There was no response from any gods, just the sound of heavy footsteps nearing me. With each thud, my senses were overloaded with the will to survive, no longer having the energy to employ Carlisle's "Control" gift. My newborn's instincts were completely unleashed. With my concentration wavering, the shield dissipated, letting my scent diffuse in the air.

I looked up in despair, screaming and thrashing my remaining head in a futile attempt to escape, the fear of death showing my ugliness. I heard a high-pitched animalistic growl, not sounding angry but amused.

I sensed 5 vampires and several wolves around me, I closed my eyes in despair, opening them they were calm again, I knew I was going to die.

Growllll

The giant wolf head slowly got bigger in my sight. It's abyssal black eyes reflecting my head, full of cracks, looking like it would wither at the slightest wind.

The wolf got close to me; it's maw opening wide, each canine bigger than my skull. I can only imagine what it would do to me.

A wry smile came on my face, seemingly too much for my fragile face to handle. It started falling apart at a much faster rate.

Before the wolf scooped my head in his maw, and with a sickening crunch, I ceased to be.
