Chapter 153: That Which Lurks

"I want a team of seven men at the front and the others guarding the rear. We'll carry the relic in the center and kill anything that moves inside, be it human or not." Anton strapped on a belt with special cartridge holders once again.

The soldiers around him immediately equipped themselves with gas masks covering both their eyes and mouths, protective vests, and high-caliber weapons that were blessed.

But before they entered the Abbey, Anton activated his Hand of God, placing a blood cross on each one, both on their weapons and their foreheads. "O God, who with your word sanctifies all, bless this object, and by the invocation of your Most Holy Name, grant health to the body and protection to the spirit."

"Thank you, Guardian Bishop!"

The agent, who had been blessed, felt ten times more protected. Everyone knew the great ability of the Hand of God that Anton used every time he fought the supernatural, and being blessed with that same hand made them feel touched by God.

One by one, the sixteen people who were accompanying him here were blessed. All of them activated their night vision goggles, and some who didn't have them turned on their green lasers, immediately piercing through the darkness.

When finished, Anton took his rifle and, with the green laser lit, walked toward the wooden door that prevented him from advancing. "Can't you feel demons? You better prepare yourself because today I'm going to seal you."

"Should we use explosives to open the door?" An agent approached to ask how they entered the abbey.

Anton shook his head and said, "I'll take care of it."

As he said this, he approached the door, and, knowing where to hit it, Anton unleashed a powerful punch that ended up breaking the old door, sending it flying several meters away.

Boom!

After knocking down the huge door, Anton shook the dust off his leather glove and walked into the interior of the abbey, which unleashed a lot of dark energy.

"Zz... Listen carefully. Valac is an extraordinarily powerful demon that manifests as a demonic nun to mock the faith of its enemies and hide among them. He was once an angel, but God rejected him and sent him to prison in hell."

Anton left this message as they reached an open hall. Everyone formed a perimeter, ensuring there was nothing in their surroundings. But at that moment, a soldier spotted the face of a horribly cursed woman and squeezed the trigger several times.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Zz. On the second floor of the tower, I could see a nun, but now she's gone!"

Anton turned his gun toward the tower, and where the bullets hit, there was nothing. Still, feeling a cursed trace of darkness persisting in that place, he knew the demon was here.

"Zz... Stay close; don't shoot unless it's a physical projection."

While advancing, everyone felt the chill descending on their bodies, and their silver crosses trembled slightly. No matter what that demon turned into now, they couldn't be mocked in their faith because they believed in something they themselves had no right to know.

Anton accepted this special team in this way because he thought it convenient to have a front-line squad that was as similar to him as possible for cases like this. As far as he knew, they were all orphans living alone, and there were few people they loved in life. So, no matter what seemed in the surroundings, they would not be daunted.

Crack!

Anton looked at the huge hall they had entered, and it seemed to be the main place where ceremonies were held. First, they needed to find a large place like this to start the manifestation ritual and thus eliminate the demon by sealing it in an ancient relic they had brought with them.

Even though they were in the midst of darkness, everyone could see perfectly. To improve things, Anton ordered, "Place artificial light; take off your night vision goggles."

"Zz... understood, sir!"

The agents threw military chemical lights in the surroundings; dozens were thrown, and powerful lights illuminated the surroundings slowly.

After this, Anton ordered the relic to be lowered in the center, and taking the book used to summon the demon, he murmured, "You know we are here to lock you up and send you to hell, where you belong. Your name gives me dominion over you, demon, and I know your name."

Crack! Crack! Crack!

As Anton recited this, the stone lion figures around them seemed to come to life, and when everyone began to concentrate on it, a figure resembling a three-meter-tall goat appeared in front of the door that connected to another corridor.

"You would die in the worst way!"

Anton, without expression, shouted, "Fire!"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

In an instant, a fierce battle erupted in the huge hall, where the agents shot at the stone figures that ran towards them at great speed. Meanwhile, Anton shot the demon in front of him, who had manifested without any fear.

He knew this dark entity is a powerful demon known as the Marquis, the Profane, or Marquis of Snakes, and is the leader of more than 100 legions of demons in hell, showing himself more powerful than Malthus.
