The day after the attacks by the assassins hired by Giles to deal with Seth's group, Emery and Levi found traces of their opponents!
Even without following the Pennel family's clues, the two reached the people who created the assassination mission against their group.
Through them, they obtained an address that Atlas and Dax had just received.
Early in the afternoon of the group's third day in Rosecoast, Atlas and Dax entered a building in the city's coastal area.
...
As they entered the building where Giles had given his orders about the assassination missions against Seth's group, Atlas and Dax soon sensed they were not alone.
"Get out of where you are. We know you're watching us." Dax said as he looked around the dark area that overlooked the city's beautiful pink coastline.
Neither he nor Atlas could identify the people of this continent by their auras, as powerful continental cultivators could. But they both had extremely sharp senses and knew when they were being watched.
The two stopped not far from where Giles had just given the order for their murders and waited for the only person present to show himself.
Out of the darkness of that area stepped a man dressed all in black, almost two meters tall, his body completely covered by his clothes and a black hood.
"You... What are you doing here?" This individual asked as he looked at the two quiet men in front of him.
Dax narrowed his eyes at the sight of this shadowy figure, noticing that this person was not ordinary like the individuals they had met so far on their journey through Ihaes.
"Interesting. You're not human. What kind of being are you?" Dax asked, having no idea about the cultivation of the being but knowing what kind of nature this person in front of him had.
Dax couldn't tell from this person's clothing, but the smell of death and the sensation this man caused in him and Atlas was enough for him to understand that this was no normal opponent.
"Oh? It looks like it wasn't for nothing that Giles' men fell to you." The man said as he moved his arms, causing several insects to fly out of his large sleeves.
"But since you came to me, forget about coming back!" He shouted as his hood fell down, revealing his hideous appearance to Dax and Atlas.
The two looked at the hideous face of this individual, which resembled the face of a flayed man, with rotting flesh in place of skin and the sclera of his eyes as black as night.
As the man opened his mouth, a black gas spread throughout the area. At the same time, the terrain around him suddenly became macabre, with various insect sounds approaching Dax and Atlas.
The creature then maliciously laughed as he attacked the two, feeling he would easily resolve the situation with these two fools.
But when he expected to see the two bodies of those two humans in front of him, he saw them both standing in the same places as before, as if nothing had happened after being attacked by an avalanche of flesh-eating insects.
"Are you going to finish him, or should I do it?" Atlas asked as several disgusting creatures appeared at the edge of the dark area.
Dax took a step forward as he drew his weapon. "You've done enough in the past few days. It's my turn to move." He said as he brought his hammer down, causing an overwhelming pressure to appear over the building suddenly.
Then the sounds of creaking walls and metal began, while a special energy circulated Dax's weapon, making the tall man realize that he was going to have problems.
"Shit! Who are you people? Why do you interfere in such trivial matters?" He let his creatures attack in Dax's direction while he had already changed his path to try to escape the area.
"Walking corpse, what is your cultivation?" Dax asked as he raised his weapon and placed it under one of his shoulders.
That corpse felt as if an entire world had appeared above him, and he was immediately pushed to the ground.
"Aaaagh!" This person's entire body was pressed down to the point where he was lying on the ground, while the shape of a hammer, similar to the one on Dax's shoulder, appeared above him and slowly lowered itself onto him.
"I... I am a cultivator from the Spirit Ocean Realm, senior." He said in horror as he felt every part of his existence tremble in front of Dax.
"Oh? The Spirit Ocean Realm should be strong enough to rule this city." Atlas commented to Dax.
"So our cultivation is above the 5th stage," Dax commented curiously, satisfied with his opponent's answer.
Then he stopped playing and grabbed his hammer with both hands just before he swung it through the air toward his target's head.
"I don't know what you had in mind, but I don't think it's a good idea to leave you alive in this city."
Dax smashed the creature's head, causing all the insects in the area to lose their forms and turn into dark smoke.
At the same time, the whole city shook under Dax's movement!
...
Meanwhile, near Duke Pennel's estate, Giles went to meet someone while using devices to change his identity.
As he sat down in front of the Pennel family estate and looked at the place with longing, someone soon sat down next to him with a slight tremor.
The two of them ignored the tremor and went straight to business.
"Giles, I will no longer do business with you. Find someone else to get information on the Duke's family." Said the person who had just sat down next to the Duke's brother.
"You think you can just tell me that and walk away?" Giles smiled. "Amos, do you know who I represent? Do you know what they could do to someone like you? Let me tell you, I have an elder of the Blaze Company with me in Rosecoast."
"What?" The man shouted as he looked away, not believing what he had just heard.
"Don't get nervous, or we'll be noticed..." Giles grinned.
"You bastard! I can't believe you sold your soul to those devil worshippers!" Amos commented incredulously amidst the look of disgust on his face.
"The hell I wouldn't!" Giles said as he glared at the man. "Now that you know the truth, don't think you can deny me any favors."
"Tsk! I hope you're confident. It would be awful for you if those damn walking corpses ended up destroying you after you had outlived your usefulness." Amos mocked. "I've heard they're very good at turning people into puppets..."
"There's no point in you taunting me, Amos. I know where I stand. Anyway, I want you to clear the way for me to get to my brother. I'll take care of him with the help of the elder who's coming with me." Giles said.
"That wasn't your original plan..." Amos worried.
"Blame these newcomers for my haste. Anyway, you have until nightfall. I'll wait for your signal. Don't fail me. This is your last chance!"
