Chapter 98: Warning (4)

Beth couldn't believe Dorothy was going to hold onto the affair which had nothing to do with her. So what if she liked Scarlet? There was nothing to apologise for. 

Scarlet didn't love Jack and there was another woman to come in to love him. Shouldn't she be receiving thanks for saving Jack from a loveless marriage?

Beth tried not to laugh as this was ridiculous. 'She didn't love Scarlet. She loved the money,' she thought.

Jack's relatives were no better than her as they only loved Scarlet for her wealth. They had no room to speak about why Beth was with Jack. Everyone in this town cared about money just as she did. She was only insulted because she wasn't born into wealth.

Beth stared at Dorothy who was busy looking around for a servant to serve her. When the family doctor came to see her, this would all be over. She needed her ring and her last name changed before this secret could be revealed.

'She hasn't told Jack yet,' Beth noted.
