"But that's the point!" Wendy cut her off in an  exasperated tone. "That's exactly when you should've gone all the way! You've been holding back for so long, and now when you finally have the chance, you freeze up? What are you waiting for, Grace? A sign from the universe?"

Grace could feel her face heating up, not just from embarrassment but from the sudden sting of guilt. "It wasn't about freezing up. I just… I didn't want to rush into something that I might regret later." You seem to have forgotten what Rufus did to me. If I had given in to his demands then, how would I have salvaged myself?"

"Tsk! Can you be serious for once?" Wendy spat. "We are talking about humans here but you still had to bring up a dog," she snorted coldly.
