Chapter 223: The Proposal

"What's wrong, Mr Fitz?" Jace asked as he walked towards the elderly man.

Whenever he was like this, it meant one thing… trouble, but what was it this time around?

"Your cousin has been with Mrs Brandon since this afternoon."

"Oh, that? Is that why you're like this?" Jace asked in disbelief. He thought something important had happened not knowing that it was Trent. Was he even considered a challenge?

"It's not just that sir. The problem is that he came with so many gifts and a huge bouquet of flowers. He has asked the servants to prepare the living room for his proposal."

"What did you say? Pro- what?"

"He's planning to propose to Ms Fowler, sir."  

"Are you kidding me?" Jace roared and before Mr Fitz could respond, Jace had darted past him into the house.

He stormed through the hallway to the living room as if he was rushing off to avert a major disaster.

He could hear Mr Fitz's hurried footsteps behind him.
