"That's enough, Rufus," Roy warned, his voice low and threatening. 

"And who are you for me to listen to you? Her knight in shining armor? Pathetic."

Rufus laughed again, a cold, mirthless sound. "Look around, guy. You think she cares about you? You're just a stepping stone until she finds someone more useful."

"Roy, let him be," Grace finally spoke up when she realized things might get messy any moment from now, but Roy, who clearly saw an opportunity to prove his usefulness did not bark down.

Thus, he took a step closer to Rufus, his voice low and menacing. "Say one more word about Grace, and you'll regret it," he warned. 

Unfazed, Rufus equally threw back, a sneer playing on his lips. "Or what? What are you going to do? You're just a pathetic loser trying to play the hero. You don't have the guts to stand up to me."
