She shook off the haze in her head and wandered off into the kitchen.
Everyone had already eaten while she was asleep, however, Mrs Bert had packaged her food in a warmer for her.
She couldn't help but wonder what Jace's repeated actions and kind words meant, and where this unexpected closeness between them might lead as she pushed the kitchen door open.
Mrs Bert was already making arrangements for lunch with her two assistants, Mary and Vera.
The bustling activity came to a brief halt as Mrs. Bert looked up and saw Grace.
"Well, if it isn't Grace," Mrs. Bert said with a warm smile. "It's been a while since we've had a proper chat. How are you, dear?" she asked as she paused her work to walk over to Grace's side.
Grace returned the smile, feeling a bit more at ease. "I'm fine, Mrs Bert. I've just been so busy lately."
