Chapter 138: Share A Table

"It wasn't his fault, sir," she said softly, hoping to ease his tension. "And I don't think I need such a huge compensation. He had nothing to do with what happened that day.

"You can tell him that whenever you see him, but I'd advise you forget about it because it will have a huge impact on his managerial capacity as a manager. It's his way of taking responsibility for his restaurant. If word gets out that his customers discriminate against one another, what image do you think it will give to the restaurant?"

"But one year is too much," Grace argued, finding it hard to see the rationality in Jace's explanation.

Jace's expression softened as he looked at her but said nothing in response. 

Sensing the seriousness in the once relaxed office, Charles snuggled closer to Grace, his small hand gripping hers. 

Grace turned her attention back to Charles and kissed the top of his head.
