After rushing to the hospital with Ashley at the wheel, we arrived to find Ruby by her mother's side.

Her mother looked frail, her face lined with worry, but she managed a weak smile as we entered the room.

Ruby's eyes were red from tears, and she hugged me tightly as I came closer.

I spoke quietly with the attending doctor, asking about her mother's condition.

Usually, that was only possible for family members, but once I told him I was a Mafia member, he opened up immediately.

Double standards.

The doctor explained that while Ruby's mother had suffered a stroke, she was stable for now. However, she required constant care and monitoring to ensure her recovery went smoothly.

Without hesitation, I asked about the possibility of arranging for a 24/7 nurse to attend to her mother's needs.

Once I paid for the special treatment and the arrangements were made, I turned to Ruby's mother, who was now awake but clearly weak.
