A soft breath fled Dimitri's nose as the nurse wheeled him out of the room to ward 07, where his father was admitted. She pushed him in and shut the door behind them.

Dimitri watched his father, who was lying on the bed, and his heart dropped to his stomach the second the nurse wheeled him closer.

Mr. Petrov was an even worse mess than he was. Adeline ruined the man. She went too far, and if she had even gone farther than that, Mr. Petrov might have died. His father might have become a story for another day.

He was unconscious on the bed, seeming to be in a temporary coma. Who knew for how long? It could be a week, a month, or even a year.

Dimitri dreaded this the most. He was never able to function or do anything without his father.

His father was like his book manual, his guidance, and without him, he felt lost. What was he to do now? How would he continue while waiting until he regained consciousness?
