Chapter 68 Bloody Date Part 2

The date went exactly as planned, and I couldn't have been happier. At first, both of us were visibly awkward, unsure of how to navigate this new dynamic. The initial moments were filled with hesitant smiles and stilted conversation, each of us hyper-aware of every little thing that the other did.

However, as we moved deeper into the fair, the tension began to ease, and we actually started to enjoy ourselves. We started with those rigged fair games that people never win at, but for us, they were super easy. Being as enhanced as we were made winning a piece of cake, whether it was ring toss or shooting galleries.

Eventually, the stand owners began to become visibly upset at all the stuffed toys I was winning Gwen.

"Sir... you're doing really well, but do you mind taking your business somewhere else? I'm just trying to make a living, and you've already taken half of my rewards," the man said in a whisper, hoping none of the other fairgoers would hear since it would make him look bad.

'This guy did have a point; I may have gone a bit overboard,' I thought to myself when I looked over at Gwen holding a pile of large stuffed animals.

"Haha, sorry about that," I said, leaving behind an apology. I made my way back to Gwen, who looked at me mischievously like she expected this to happen.

"Have you finally stopped bullying that poor man?" she teased.

"Bullying? I don't know about that. I would never do such a thing," I retorted before looking away as Gwen just giggled.

"Well, it's good he stopped you because honestly, I don't think I can take this all home." Gwen said with a tired face as she looked at all the stuffed animals before her expression suddenly brightened. "Ha, I know! We could do this."

Without explaining, Gwen went to the area where little girls had their faces painted and started handing out the toys to them.

"Come on, Kol. These toys aren't going to find homes on their own." Hearing her call, I joined the fray and started handing some out as well when I felt someone tug at my shirt.

Looking down, I saw two children, a boy and a girl. 'They must be siblings,' I thought. Both had similar features, and by how close they were, it was pretty obvious.

"Uh, can I have the unicorn, mister? It's for my sister," the boy said while his sister peeked from behind, slightly embarrassed.

"Of course, kid. Here you go."

"Hey, I'm not a kid, and I have a name," the boy complained while he tried to stand taller.

"Eh, you still look pretty short to me," I stated teasingly as the kid got visibly upset, ripping the unicorn from my hand. Which he wouldn't have been able to do normally because of how strong I was, but I let him have it.

"Just you wait, I will get big. My dad is the biggest around, so that means I'll also be big! Bigger than you," the boy stated as if it was a fact.

Ugh, I highly doubt it. There won't be many people matching my height with all the enhancements I'll be receiving in the future. Which is actually worrying now that I think about it. Will I just be a walking Goliath once I've done all my procedures?

While I was thinking about this, a man suddenly arrived and just did a light smack on the boy's hair before ruffling it. He stood tall at around 6'1" and had buzzed hair, but what I noticed most of all was his aura. It felt somewhat dangerous and focused, which intrigued me considering it would take killing many to have this sort of feel.

"Haha, sorry if my kids were bothering you. They're just really friendly," the man said while chuckling.

"It's no problem; I don't mind kids," I replied, which caused the boy to glare once more at being called a kid.

"Well, now that I think about it, you look familiar. Aren't you that Dagon guy that made all those robots? Wait, it is you. I'm a big fan, by the way."

A fan? That's surprising. Most of my fans are women, so having a guy fan is different.

"Glad to see that my work is appreciated."

"More than appreciated. Those robots of yours have decreased crime in my area significantly. But you should really get those things in the military. I got a lot of friends who'd love to have them by their side. It would also help more people come back home," the man said, slightly down after his last comment.

"If you're really interested, then I don't mind giving you a hint. Watch the upcoming expo, and you might see some impressive things. By the way, you mentioned the military a lot. Are you by chance a soldier?" If this is true, then his aura would sort of make sense, but he must be someone in special ops because you don't get this sort of feeling from just killing one or two guys or from basic training.

"Used to be. I'm retiring now to spend more time with the family." Reaching out his hand, he formally introduced himself. "Frank Castle, Marines."

Hearing his name sent alarm bells ringing in my ears as my pupils widened before contracting again in focus. I may not be on NZT at the moment, but my brain is still very much enhanced, forcing me to focus on what I just learned.

Frank Castle.

I knew this man… he was a U.S. Marine that served four terms and was highly decorated. Eventually, though, he settled down and wanted to be a more permanent piece in his family's lives. However, like all things Marvel, this didn't go as planned.

His old boss and teammate arranged to have him killed because they assumed that he had footage that could have shown that their operations were not legal. In fact, nothing about it was legal because they were using bodies to smuggle drugs. The whole thing was as corrupt as it gets.

Unfortunately, the assassination didn't go as planned because Frank survived, but his family didn't. Creating the Punisher.

Turning, I saw Gwen still laughing with children and knew our date was about to go downhill. If I was right, then this was the park where his family is about to be killed, which should create the Punisher, or… I could use this.

Taking a good look at the man in front of me, I analyzed his physique and recalled his skills in the show. Frank was good, really good, and he was the best as one could get for a regular person. Not just that, but the guy had one hell of a determination and was very loyal.

Now imagine if this guy got enhanced and came under me? With such a thought, I began to see some possibilities here and knew my choice.

Looks like it's time to change fate once again.
