"Stay here for now, Mikoto-san, this was my former home. It's a bit small, but once I become the clan head, I'll improve it. Then we'll..."
"Enough, Yoichi-kun, this place is already very good. I... am very satisfied."
Mikoto looked around the small single-family home. Though every corner was compact, it was Yoichi-kun's place, and just the thought of it filled her with contentment.
"Yoichi-kun, there's no need to call me '-san.' anymore, I'm divorced."
Mikoto spoke with a playful tone, just having entered the house, she felt Yoichi's hand wander from her waist downwards.
"Alright, Mikoto, when we are alone, I will call you that from now on."
Yoichi felt a surge of desire.
However, Fugaku stood outside with a grim face, his fist clenched so tightly that his nails dug into his flesh, drawing blood. In his other hand, he held the belongings that Mikoto had packed but hadn't taken with her.
He had seen Mikoto leaving but didn't expect her to leave her things behind. Thinking she might have forgotten them, he decided to bring them to her.
But what he witnessed upon arriving left him distraught.
'You betrayed me first, Mikoto. You do not deserve to be Itachi's mother.'
Fugaku turned and left without a word, returning home to remain silent.
Itachi slowly approached his father, intending to ask about some ninja techniques, but sensing the timing was off, he quietly sat beside his father instead.
"Itachi, do you love your mother?"
"...Yes, I love both mom and dad. I want to become a strong ninja just like dad."
"Strong, huh? I might not be strong, Itachi, but you definitely will be. I believe in you," Fugaku said, turning to look earnestly at his son. At that moment, it seemed as though Itachi was the only one who hadn't betrayed him.
Naturally intelligent, Itachi hadn't started formal training yet, but whether it was learning to read or the basics of ninjutsu, he picked things up quickly, rarely needing anything explained a third time.
If it weren't for the family issues, Fugaku was confident he could raise Itachi to be a genius even surpassing Yoichi and Shisui. But he feared he might not have much time left.
"Itachi, come with me to meet someone. He's a well-known genius in the Uchiha clan and once mentored me."
Thinking of the plans ahead, Fugaku took Itachi to Hachidai's home.
At Hachidai's, a guest was already present, another genius of the Uchiha but not as prominent as Yoichi.
"Shisui, you can now try to integrate illusion techniques with body flicker jutsu. Both are your specialties, and I have nothing left to teach you about illusion techniques. The rest is up to you to explore," Hachidai was saying when the doorbell rang.
He stood to answer it, but upon opening the door, he found Fugaku and Itachi.
"Clan head, what brings you here? And with Itachi-kun?"
"Let's talk inside, Hachidai."
After seeing Fugaku's serious demeanor, Hachidai nodded and ushered them in. "However, Clan head, Shisui is visiting me today, he's right inside."
"Let Shisui look after Itachi for a bit. I need to speak with you alone."
Once Fugaku and Hachidai were in the living room and saw Shisui, Fugaku said, "Shisui, I need a favor. I have something urgent with Hachidai. Could you please look after Itachi?"
"No problem, leave it to me, Clan Head."
Shisui stood up and approached Itachi, who, despite his young age, tried to appear calm. Shisui smiled and greeted, "Hello, I'm Shisui. Let's walk around the yard."
After receiving a nod from Fugaku, Itachi reached out to Shisui, "Hello, I'm Itachi."
As the two departed, Hachidai closed the door and asked, "Clan head, what happened?"
"I divorced Mikoto."
Fugaku had intended to keep the divorce a secret for a while longer, but since making the decision, he knew it couldn't be hidden.
Especially with a clan meeting approaching, where all Uchiha ninjas, except those on the battlefield or on missions, would gather and learn the truth.
"My only concern now is Itachi. He's very talented, more so than me. He will definitely be a great ninja... But I might not have time to see that. So, I'm entrusting Itachi to you, Hachidai-senpai."
This sudden revelation left Hachidai speechless, struggling to understand the sudden divorce and the request to take care of Itachi.
"Fugaku, what's going on? Why the sudden divorce? And why me to look after Itachi? What happened between you and Mikoto?"
"I've gained some power but lost a lot more, Hachidai-senpai. At the next clan meeting, I plan to challenge Yoichi with my strength to decide who will be the next clan head."
As Fugaku opened his eyes, his Sharingan had transformed, featuring a new pattern not typical of the standard three-tomoe Sharingan.
"Mangekyō Sharingan?"
Hachidai was stunned. How had Fugaku also activated the Mangekyō Sharingan, a technique unseen in decades within the Uchiha clan, and now two appeared in quick succession.
"In every other aspect, I might be slightly inferior to Yoichi, my only recourse is to rely on strength. Hachidai-senpai, if I lose, please take good care of Itachi. I've already told him to listen to you. If it comes to that, you won't need to consider me the clan head anymore."
If even a Mangekyō Sharingan wielder like himself couldn't match Yoichi, Hachidai continuing to oppose Yoichi would only lead to his downfall.
From that confrontation at the guard post, Fugaku recognized Yoichi's ruthless decisiveness. Even among kinsmen, he could distinguish his enemies.
"Fugaku, don't do anything foolish. Living is more important than anything else."
Hachidai spoke gravely, trying to persuade him. "Don't you want to see Itachi grow up? He's only just over two years old!"
"I've made up my mind."
"Even if you've decided, it won't change my decision. Remember, you used to come to me for advice on illusion techniques."
Hachidai patted Fugaku's shoulder, asserting his role, "I am, after all, the captain of the guard!"
————————
"Yuzuki-san, where's Itachi? And why are these things out here?"
Mikoto returned home, her cheeks flushed. Though it wasn't her home anymore, her belongings were supposed to be inside, so why were they outside?
"It seems Fugaku clan head took them out. He left and then came back with them, and took Itachi-sama out somewhere. I'm not sure where they went," Yuzuki recounted.
Mikoto was startled by this news. Fugaku had left? And taken her belongings? Had he gone somewhere?
Could it be to deliver her things...?
Mikoto felt uneasy, remembering that she had been with Yoichi the entire time, even sharing a bath with him after their encounter. She hadn't noticed if Fugaku had come looking for her.
"Mikoto-san?"
"Yuzuki-san, I need to step out for a while. Please take care of the house."
After instructing Yuzuki, Mikoto hurriedly left with her belongings, her heart pounding. She was unsure if Fugaku had visited Yoichi's previous residence. If he had, he might have overheard her and Yoichi... She decided to find Yoichi first and ask him.
Meanwhile, the Cloud Village's envoy, having settled in Konoha, began searching for the whereabouts of Yugito.
Negotiating her return through diplomatic means was only their first strategy, not the only one. If that failed, they had other methods prepared.
"Can you sense Yugito's location?"
"Yes, it appears that Konoha has not detected our tracking seal on Yugito. We have her current location now. She seems to be at the outskirts of the village."
Cloud ninjas often implanted tracking seals on Jinchūriki who hadn't fully mastered their Tailed Beasts' powers. Only those who had complete control could render such tactics ineffective.
"Let's go and retrieve Yugito then. Signal her to come out."
"Understood."
One of the Cloud ninjas took out a squirrel from his pocket and cast a jutsu on it. The squirrel, seemingly enlightened, darted towards the location where Yugito was staying.
After a while, when even the ninja who cast the jutsu began to doubt, Yugito finally appeared.
"Senpai, have you come to take me back?"
"Yes, let's leave now, Yugito!"
As Biba took a step forward to lead her away, Yugito hesitated, "Just like that, Senpai? It won't work; escaping won't be easy."
"Don't worry, I have a plan," Biba reassured her.
"But the person guarding me is Konoha's Raijin. Even if we leave Konoha, getting back to Cloud Village will be impossible."
Yugito's anxiety was evident; she knew the methods Yoichi had used on her. Without the Third Raikage's direct intervention, anyone else's efforts to extract her would be futile.
"Senpai, isn't there another way to get me back?"
"We've exhausted all political avenues. The Third Raikage offered the highest price, but Konoha seems unwilling to return you today. We must consider other options."
Biba then reached for his ninja tools pouch, slowly drawing a kunai. "It seems forceful extraction won't work, so we'll have to use the final method. Yugito, you'll need to cooperate."
"What other way is there? I'll cooperate fully," Yugito replied, her eyes lighting up with hope.
"When a Tailed Beast dies, it reincarnates in an environment suitable for its rebirth, and the Third Raikage has confirmed the site for Matatabi's rebirth. I'm sorry, Yugito."
As he spoke, Biba thrust the kunai towards Yugito's heart—an extreme measure to bring Matatabi back to the Cloud Village. Even if it meant killing Yugito, the Tailed Beast would reincarnate, and the Cloud could capture it anew.
Unprepared for the attack, Yugito could only stare in horror and disbelief.
But in the next moment, she was yanked backwards, pulled away from the lethal strike.
"I told you, once they realize they can't take you back, they'd kill you to recover Matatabi. Trusting these fools gets you nowhere."
As Yoichi spoke, lightning wrapped around him, dodging the kunai before kicking Biba hard in the stomach. Biba was sent flying, crashing down and rolling several times before lying motionless.
The other Cloud ninja, who had manipulated the squirrel, received a similar fate with a kick to the neck, instantly falling unconscious, never to awake again.
"Let's go back. This delayed my actual business."
Yoichi was frustrated. Just moments ago, he had been reminiscing in Mikoto's arms about his childhood, only to be interrupted by a squirrel—an interruption he couldn't ignore without putting on pants and checking it out.

When Yugito attempted to sneak out, Yoichi had already noticed. He allowed her to interact with the two Cloud ninjas to help Yugito come to terms with her situation.
"Just go back to sleep. If you bother me again over such matters, be prepared to part ways with the Tailed Beast."
Yugito's face turned pale upon hearing this; she knew well what parting with the Tailed Beast meant—extracting it from her body, which would result in her death as the Jinchūriki.
Her own village's attempt to kill her just moments ago made her feel utterly abandoned. Although Yoichi had warned her about the Cloud's possible betrayal, facing the reality was still unbelievable.
"What are you still doing standing there? Hurry back."
Yoichi called from a distance. Hearing this, Yugito quickly jogged back to him. However, as she approached, she noticed something odd about the space between Yoichi's legs, which, coupled with the female voice she had heard earlier, made her face turn red and she awkwardly looked away, mumbling, "Pervert..."
Yoichi, catching her reaction, glanced at Yugito. Did she think it was someone else's doing that made him leave his bed? If not for those two damnable Cloud ninjas and her, he would still be resting.
Mina hadn't returned, and Mikoto was almost ready to move in here permanently, although that wasn't really feasible. She still had to be cautious.
But using a transformation technique to sneak around was no issue. Yoichi had chosen this location for its seclusion, precisely because it was undisturbed.
Upon returning, Mikoto sleepily asked, "What's wrong, Yoichi-kun?"
"Nothing, just go to sleep, Mikoto."
Yoichi comforted her, then stripped off his clothes and prepared to go back to bed. However, the interruption by the Cloud ninjas had robbed him of his sleepiness.
And Mikoto, trying to find a comfortable position in his arms, inadvertently stoked his desires again, leading to an awakening that startled her awake.
"Yoichi-kun, it's too late~"
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The night resounded once more with activity.
Downstairs, Yugito had just laid down to try and settle her nerves after the day's shocking events, only to hear the creaking of a bed above.
'Didn't he say he was going to sleep? What a big pervert!!!'
Yugito pulled the covers over her head, trying to force herself to sleep. However, the evening's events weighed heavily on her, leaving her scared and alone.
The next day.
Though Mikoto was exhausted from the previous night, she got up early and, using a transformation technique to avoid others, returned to Yoichi's former residence to freshen up and catch some more sleep.
Yoichi checked on the two men from last night; the second was dead, his neck broken. The first, though still alive, had only passed out from his injuries.
"He's lucky to be alive."
Knowing these men were Cloud envoys, Yoichi did not hesitate in his actions.
After calling some members of the police force, he had the dead body sent to the interrogation department and the injured man treated before being detained. Uchiha then headed to the Hokage Building.
After reporting the incident to the Third Hokage, who twitched his mouth and stopped smoking his pipe, the Third said, "I understand, Yoichi-kun. Since they didn't intend to negotiate properly, there's no need to treat them as envoys."
Hiruzen tapped his pipe, indicating his agreement. If the Cloud had succeeded in killing the Two-Tails Jinchūriki, they might not even stick to the agreement.
"I know. I'll hand over the living one to the interrogation team later."
"And about the Two-Tails Jinchūriki..."
"Don't worry, Lord Hokage. After today's incident, Yugito is even more disillusioned with the Cloud Village. There's a ninety percent chance she'll become a shinobi of Konoha now."
Yoichi explained, "The Cloud Village are fools. They tried to kill their own shinobi, and now, not only did they fail, but they've also made Yugito despise them. I wasn't sure how to make her renounce her Cloud identity, but the Cloud Village has really helped out a lot."
"Is that so? Well, that might indeed be a good thing."
Hiruzen was momentarily speechless, suspecting Yoichi was mocking someone. Fortunately, Danzo wasn't there.
"If there's nothing else, then I'll be going, Lord Third."
"Yes, thank you for your efforts, Yoichi-kun."
After Uchiha Yoichi left, Hiruzen couldn't help but feel uneasy. He couldn't openly oppose Yoichi now, especially since he had activated the Mangekyo Sharingan and could match the strength of an Eight-Tails Jinchūriki, not to mention his growing influence over the Uchiha clan.
Without solid evidence of a major mistake, even his title as the Third Hokage seemed inadequate.
Even if he directly demanded the Two-Tails Jinchūriki, he was sure Yoichi had plenty of reasons to refuse, such as detaining her under the authority granted to the police force by the Second Hokage, indeed intended for detaining dangerous individuals from hostile villages.
And with the ongoing war, if the front lines tightened or other villages launched major offensives, Konoha would still need the Uchiha clan.
———
In the following days, Yoichi spent his days discussing serious matters with Mikoto, whose gaming revenue was soaring, necessitating investment. Thus, Yoichi chose several industries for Mikoto to invest in or acquire outright.
By night, he and Mikoto would be physically active, although Mikoto's ordinary constitution struggled to cope with Yoichi's demands over several consecutive days, leading her to plead for a day's rest in between.
Initially, Mikoto harbored a desire to monopolize Yoichi, aware of another young girl, Mina, around him. However, after spending time with Yoichi, she realized how deeply he cherished her, wishing they could be together day and night.
Thus, Mikoto harbored a small hope to possess Yoichi all to herself, dreaming of bearing him a son named Sasuke, just like in her dreams.
But Mikoto was mistaken. While Yoichi was indeed captivated by her as in her dreams, she simply couldn't keep up with him physically. After two days, she needed a significant rest period, or else she couldn't even walk.
After these days together, Mikoto came to terms with the fact that monopolizing Yoichi was impossible. If she couldn't satisfy him even after marriage, she wouldn't be fulfilling her duties as a wife.
Besides strengthening his relationship with Mikoto, Yoichi also focused on his training.
While Mikoto busied herself with official matters, Yoichi would retreat to the basement to absorb chakra from a Star Stone.
Having absorbed so much chakra from the Star Stone, even Godzilla had evolved significantly, growing larger and establishing a stronger bond with Yoichi.
Chakra links to the mind, and while Godzilla was physically strong, its mental strength was average. However, Yoichi, having activated the Mangekyo and possessing strong Yin chakra, felt a growing connection.
Now, as Yoichi and Godzilla's link deepened, Godzilla gradually came under his control. Once Godzilla evolved into its fourth form, Yoichi would be able to wield its power without any constraints.
During these days of absorbing chakra from the Star Stone, Yoichi felt his visual prowess fully recover and even improve slightly.
However, he also sensed that the energy contained in the Star Stone was diminishing. He was absorbing more chakra from the stone than the Star Ninja Village did in a hundred years, as they dared not extract its energy as recklessly as he did.
Yugito had been much more subdued these past few days, staying at Yoichi's home and even taking up chores, showing increasing disillusionment with the Cloud Village.
Faced with a village that would kill its own, Yugito couldn't easily forget such betrayal. In light of her recent behavior, Yoichi improved her living conditions and even allowed her some freedom in the courtyard.
Upon hearing this, Yugito's demeanor eased slightly, though she still showed disdain for Yoichi and would mutter 'H' under her breath when she thought he couldn't hear. (For the 'uncultured' ones, it means ecchi, which means pervert)
Soon, the day of the clan meeting arrived.
This was no small event for the Uchiha clan, and Yoichi had already discussed his plans with Kenji. Masato and Yokogawa, along with other militant upper-rank Shinobi, were well aware of what was expected at this clan meeting.
They were all eager, for the position of clan head represented the face of the clan. Rather than letting Fugaku continue as head, they preferred Yoichi, known throughout the ninja world, to take over.
"Mikoto, aren't you going?"
"I'd better not. I don't know how to face Fugaku, sorry, Yoichi-kun."
After some thought, Mikoto shook her head; although she could attend the meeting, the thought of possibly being exposed to Fugaku about her affair with Yoichi made her want to avoid him.
However, Mikoto also anticipated what might happen and, after fixing Yoichi's clothes, she hesitated before saying, "Yoichi-kun, you don't think something will happen tonight, do you?"
"It's just a clan meeting, of course, nothing will happen. You think people will die?"
Yoichi reassured her with a smile: "Don't worry, I'm leaving now. Just keep an eye on Yugito for me."
With that, Yoichi stepped out. As he reached the street corner, many were already waiting for him.
Masato, Yokogawa, and others from the militant faction were all present.
"Yoichi-kun, let's go."
"Alright, let's head out."
Together, the group made their way to Naka Shrine. Counting heads, about three hundred people had arrived.
While all clan ninjas could attend this significant biannual clan meeting, over two hundred were stationed outside the village, and fifty were needed for police patrols.
Another hundred, like Mikoto, preferred to skip the meeting and simply wait to hear about the outcomes, which is why only so many attended.
But gathering over three hundred ninjas was still significant, and every time the Uchiha clan held such a large meeting, it put the village leaders on high alert.
Three hundred gathered ninjas, especially from a clan designated as unstable by the Second Hokage, meant that Hiruzen could hardly sleep, having dispatched numerous Anbu to surround Naka Shrine.
Fortunately, the shrine had a large main hall near Naka River, an open-air structure. The Uchiha ninjas arriving there instinctively formed three circles based on their ranks.
The clan head and elders took the foremost position, followed by the Jōnin, then the Chūnin behind the Jōnin, and finally, the Genin.
As people continued to arrive and settle down, the appointed time arrived, and everyone was seated.
Silence fell over the hall, so profound that one could hear their neighbor's breathing.
Kenji broke the silence: "Clan head, you start."
"Alright, but I'm not going to beat around the bush tonight. I might have a lot to say, but it's all trivial and can be saved for the next clan meeting without any impact. So tonight, we're here for one thing only."
Fugaku's voice was firm, clear enough for even the Genin seated at the back to hear.
Yoichi and others like Kenji looked at Fugaku in surprise, guessing what he was about to declare.
"Tonight, we may need to choose a new clan head. Isn't that right, Yoichi?"
As Fugaku's words fell, nearly every clan member turned their gaze towards Yoichi.
Hearing the clan head's statement, everyone except those already privy to this matter was shocked. Did Yoichi, also aspire to be the clan head?
"Indeed, I believe I would be a better clan head than you."
Yoichi openly acknowledged: "I can provide for our clan, I can give our people confidence, and I am confident that I can make the Uchiha name the strongest in the shinobi world. Therefore, I should be the head of the Uchiha clan."
Hearing Yoichi's words, all attendees began to ponder.
Many suddenly found his argument reasonable. The Uchiha welfare system, the fame of the Leaf's Fang, the only Uchiha to activate the Mangekyo—it seemed quite fitting for him to be the clan head.
"I understand. I may be weaker than you in other aspects, but if you want me to relinquish my position as clan head, you'll have to convince me with your strength."
With that, Fugaku's pupils transformed instantly, the three tomoe merging and shifting into a completely unfamiliar Sharingan pattern.
Kenji and Yokogawa among others were stunned by the sight. They hadn't expected Fugaku to have awakened this level of power as well.
The Mangekyo Sharingan.
