After returning home, Fugaku saw Mikoto teaching Itachi the basics of being a ninja and coldly called her over, "Mikoto, come here for a moment."
"What is it, Fugaku?"
Mikoto, aware that Fugaku had just returned from meeting with Yoichi and noticing his grim expression, had a foreboding guess.
"Just come here, don't talk about this in front of Itachi. Itachi, continue your studies here."
After speaking, Fugaku walked towards the innermost room, having many questions for Mikoto.
"Mom will talk with dad for a bit, Itachi, keep studying on your own."
Seeing Itachi nod, Mikoto then stood and headed towards the room where Fugaku was. Once inside, she closed the door behind them.
The room fell silent for a moment.
As the atmosphere grew tenser, Fugaku finally broke the silence, "Today, I met with Yoichi. Mikoto, do you know what he demanded of me?"
Mikoto hesitated before responding, "Did he ask you to give up the position of clan head?"
"No, not that, Mikoto. You should know."
After agreeing to a divorce, memories suddenly flooded Fugaku's mind, recalling many things he had previously overlooked.
Business suits, light makeup—such things had never been part of Mikoto's attire before, and he had failed to notice these changes due to his preoccupations with the police force duties.
"Fugaku, what are you trying to say?"
Mikoto said, looking down, feeling a bit ashamed and very sorry for Fugaku.
"Mikoto, you were involved in this matter, weren't you?"
Fugaku spoke coldly, though his fists under the table were clenched tightly, veins bulging.
"I've already agreed to Yoichi's terms. We'll get divorced tomorrow, but before that, I want to understand clearly, Mikoto, when did it all start?"
The room quieted down again, the heavy atmosphere persisting. Suddenly, Mikoto spoke, "It's always been like this. I didn't want to be a spy. Yoichi-san trusted me, but I betrayed that trust. For your purposes, Fugaku, I kept crossing my own boundaries... Even before marrying you, I was a ninja!"
A ninja must ensure the client's interests are protected before completing a mission—that is a fundamental rule all ninjas learn.
Except for the likes of Yoichi who might go as far as to kill a client, even a rogue ninja would fulfill their commitments once a mission is accepted.
Zabuza, the demon in the mist, would also complete his tasks properly. Had it not been for Gatō's constant provocations, Zabuza wouldn't have ended up dead.
"It might have started that day, I no longer wanted to be involved, but Fugaku, why didn't you compete fairly? Starting this way is like admitting defeat from the beginning!"
Mikoto let out her emotions, feeling relieved after speaking her mind.
"I'm sorry for this, Mikoto. I'm willing to apologize and do anything to make it up to Itachi. I'm sorry, Fugaku, but the divorce was my idea, not related to Yoichi-san."
After speaking, Mikoto stood to apologize, making her promise not to neglect Itachi.
"There's no need, Itachi is my son, I won't let him recognize someone else as his father."
Fugaku said, eyes closed, and after a moment, tears of blood streamed from his eyes.
It hurts so much, so this is what it feels like! Must one lose everything to gain such power?
In one day, he had lost his family and was about to lose his position as clan head. Betrayed by those closest to him, except for Itachi, he felt he had lost everything.
"That's it then. I'll go with you to finalize the divorce, and I'll move out with Itachi. As for the position of clan head, I won't give it up! From today onwards, I consider you an enemy."
Just as Fugaku finished speaking, they heard Yuzuki outside, "Itachi, why are you standing here?"
The two inside the room stopped talking. Although their marriage had deteriorated to the point of divorce, they still cared for Itachi.
Fugaku wiped the blood from the corner of his eyes, then went to open the door, indeed seeing Itachi outside.
Although surprised that Itachi had approached silently, Fugaku began sternly, "Itachi, didn't I tell you to study on your own? Why are you here?"
"I had a question I wanted to ask father."
"Wait a bit, I don't have time now. Yuzuki-san, please take Itachi."
After sending Itachi away, Fugaku turned back to continue discussing with Mikoto. However, after Itachi's interruption, both were unsure how to proceed.
"Let's just do it. Since there is no love left, there's no need to keep up a façade of marriage."
Fugaku was filled with anger but found it hard to vent it on Mikoto, even though she had betrayed him.
"Take care of yourself."
"What about Itachi?"
Mikoto quickly asked, concerned. Although there was no love between her and Fugaku, Itachi was still her son.
"If you want to see Itachi and he doesn't mind, I won't stop you."
With that, Fugaku left the room.
Mikoto, left alone, breathed a sigh of relief after confirming the divorce with Fugaku, but how had he found out about everything?
"Could it have been Yoichi-san who told him... No, Yoichi-san wouldn't do that. Did Fugaku find out on his own?"
Regardless of how the secret was leaked, Mikoto felt it was a terrible mess.
She wanted to go to Yoichi-san right away, feeling secure only by his side. But since the divorce hadn't been officially processed, she couldn't just leave the house and would have to wait until after the divorce was finalized.
She also planned not to stay in this house. As for where to live, Yoichi-san would likely arrange something.
Thinking back to the noise at the door earlier, Mikoto felt a pang of guilt: "Itachi, I'm sorry."
——————————————
The next clan meeting was in half a month. Small clan meetings occurred monthly, while large clan gatherings took place every six months.
The meeting in fifteen days would coincide with the large clan gathering, where all Uchiha ninjas were expected to participate.
These ninjas essentially represented all clansmen, and the Naka Shrine's main hall was spacious enough, though it was rarely used.
Yoichi felt he had done enough: the clan's welfare, his battle achievements, his reputation, even the Mangekyō Sharingan.
If he couldn't become clan head with all that, it would mean a betrayal by the clansmen, but he was certain of his election.
"Where are you taking me?"
The blonde-haired girl, Yugito, followed behind Yoichi, still bearing a look of deep resentment as if her facial expression had become fixed.
Uchiha Yoichi said, "I'm taking you around Konoha. You'll be a Konoha ninja in the future, better get used to it."
"I am a Cloud ninja! I won't become a Konoha ninja!"
Yugito stomped her foot, her voice louder, drawing the attention of people on the street.
"You can be louder, but I should tell you, the war between Konoha and the Cloud just ended. There are many in the village who lost family members to the Cloud. If they beat you up because of what you just said, I won't intervene."
After Yoichi finished speaking, he continued walking forward.
Yugito, hearing this, glanced around and indeed noticed some hostile glances from adults who were much taller than her, even the younger ones.
Currently unable to use her chakra, if these people decided to beat her up, she wouldn't be able to get out of bed for at least ten days.
"Despicable big jerk!"
Yugito muttered quietly and then hurriedly followed, staying close enough to grab onto Yoichi's clothes, fearing she might be dragged away otherwise.
They then arrived at a beautifully constructed construction site. Although still under construction, most of the buildings were already completed and looked noticeably nicer and cleaner than what she had seen before.
"What is this place?"
"This will be a supermarket and food street. This half with about a dozen stores will all serve various types of food, and this part will be a supermarket where you can buy anything."
Yoichi explained. There were already small supermarkets in the shinobi world; his was just a bit larger. Soon, he would stock it with goods from merchants across the Fire Country.
"Hey, what a coincidence, you're here too?"
Suddenly, a greeting was heard. Yoichi turned his head, then instinctively used his sensory abilities to scan the surroundings.
Sure enough, at least six Anbu.
"This is my property, but why are you here, Kushina?"
The greeter was Kushina, who then smiled and said, "I heard they're going to open a supermarket here that will sell products from all over the Fire Country, so I came to check it out in advance."
After pausing, Kushina noticed Yugito standing beside her; it wasn't that she was curious about Yugito, but a pretty girl with such a resentful look directed at her was bound to raise questions.
"Who is she? She looks like she holds a grudge against you... Hey? Why does it feel like she has a sealing jutsu on her?"
Out of curiosity, Kushina touched Yugito, who couldn't react in time due to her lack of chakra.
Kushina then widened her eyes and asked, "Eh? Who did this, using two opposing seals? No wonder she can't use any chakra."
"I asked Tsunade to do it. She's a prisoner, and there's a tailed beast inside her."
"Should I reinforce it for you? The Five Elements Seal is a bit loose. If I add the Four Symbols Seal, she won't be able to use chakra ever again."
Yoichi and Yugito looked at Kushina speechless upon hearing this.
"No need, she'll be under me later. Don't cripple her."
Yoichi shook his head, while Yugito moved away from Kushina, looking almost human but actually a devil.
"Ha ha, just kidding."
Kushina laughed, then suddenly lowered her voice, "Thanks to your help last time, I can now control the chakra of six tails of the Nine-Tails, but it's still not enough to go to the frontline. The Third Hokage won't let me help Minato; can you help me like last time?"
Although it's expensive, if you don't absorb the Nine-Tails' chakra every few days, it gradually recovers on its own. Now, Kushina is barely suppressing the Nine-Tails with the six tails' chakra she had accumulated.
"Forget it, I can control the Nine-Tails better now, but I don't have that ability anymore."
Yoichi finished, then looked around again, continuing, "Haven't you noticed? The number of Anbu around is increasing. You coming to see me will definitely get you scolded."
Nine-Tails plus Mangekyō, in the eyes of Konoha's higher-ups, almost equals the destruction of Konoha. In just a short while, the Anbu presence had increased to sixteen.
They probably called half of the village's Anbu here, right?

The Sharingan and the Nine-Tails deeply agitated the higher echelons of Konoha, akin to another Madara; these leaders had firsthand experience with how formidable Madara was, and they absolutely did not wish to see a second one arise.
The recent presence of Kushina near Yoichi has already made Konoha's upper management very anxious, even doubling the number of ANBU operatives.
"Do not ever mention that you cultivated the Tailed Beast's power with my help, or you might face more severe confinement than when you were a child."
Kushina, hearing this, suddenly displayed an exaggerated expression: "Don't scare me."
"If you don't believe it, just try it. After all, I now have the Two-Tails from Yugito's body, I don't need the Nine-Tails' chakra anymore."
\Yoichi spoke, his words sounding rather cad-like.
This immediately made Kushina clench her fists and mutter resentfully under her breath, "You jerk."
But Kushina did not dare to test it out; she also sensed the increasing number of ANBU around her and inwardly complained: How can they distrust their own villagers this much? Clearly, with Yoichi's help, she could quickly master the Nine-Tails Chakra Mode.
But now, because of this distrust, she was unable to cultivate the Nine-Tails chakra and couldn't even leave the village.
"Let's drop it. The more we talk, the more I'll have to explain later. I'm going back."
After greeting him, Kushina left dejectedly. She had initially wanted to ask Yoichi to help her absorb a bit of the Nine-Tails' chakra again after her application to enter the battlefield was rejected, but now she could not only not absorb it, she had to suffer questioning because she spoke to him.
As Kushina walked away from Yoichi, she hadn't gone far when suddenly two ANBU appeared beside her.
"Kushina, what did you say to Yoichi? You were told not to approach him, as it's not good for stabilizing the Tailed Beast inside you!"
You're full of— if Yoichi were to take half of the Nine-Tails' chakra, that big fox wouldn't bother me for a month!
Kushina internally cursed them. These people know nothing yet order her around endlessly. Do they not want her to control the Tailed Beast's power?
"I didn't say anything, just greeted him. Mina and I are friends."
"Why didn't you come over and listen at that time if you wanted to know so badly?"
"Enough, I'm going back!"
Unable to endure the ANBU's interrogation, Kushina pushed past them and headed home; the ANBU dared not use force on Kushina, who had mastered the Adamantine Sealing Chains and could also use the Nine-Tails' chakra.
Seriously, few Jonin could match her.
"Report this to Lord Third."
The ANBU squad leader waved his hand, and then a group followed Kushina, not letting their guard down even though she was heading home—just in case she suddenly turned and ran, which would be their negligence.
Kushina had behaved like this before, even daring to use the Adamantine Sealing Chains against the ANBU.
After Kushina left, Yoichi continued walking around the village with Yugito, the blond-haired girl. Although she still wore a sour expression, her behavior was gradually accepting the inevitable.
Seeing no hope of return and not wanting to die, all that was left was her stubbornness.
This was also related to Yugito having no attachments in the Cloud Village; if she had parents there, she'd probably still be resisting Yoichi.
After reaching a barbecue restaurant, Yoichi said, "Let's have barbecue for lunch today. Oh, right, it's just for me; you watch, and you can make your own ramen when we get back."
Upon hearing this, Yugito's face contorted unattractively—if she were from the Uchiha clan, she probably would have activated her Sharingan by now.
"I'm not eating then!"
If she couldn't even bear this much, what kind of ninja was she? Yugito thought to herself. It's just ramen, and ramen is delicious, even if eaten for a year, she wouldn't get tired of it!
---
The Cloud Ninja emissary came unannounced and secretly to Konoha.
An official surrender document had to be submitted, and the Cloud Ninja also wanted to try if they could politically maneuver to get Yugito back.
"Lord Third Hokage, this is our surrender document, but we also have conditions, we hope you can return the Two-Tails Jinchuriki to us."
In the Hokage's office, the Cloud Ninja emissary made this request and continued: "Lord Raikage is also willing to pay a price, from now on, the mission commissions from the Land of Hot Water and the Land of Rice will be handled by Konoha, with no participation from the Cloud."
"Moreover, the distribution of Tailed Beasts, maintaining balance of power among the villages, was a decision made by the founding Kages of the five great shinobi countries. We hope the Third Hokage will adhere to the decisions of our predecessors."
Hiruzen did not respond immediately but carefully read the Cloud Ninja's confession document. The main point was acknowledging Cloud as a defeated country, then handing over the missions from the Land of Rice and the Land of Hot Water to Konoha.
However, there has always been contention over the Land of Rice, and its mission commissions are generally contested by Stone, Leaf, and Cloud ninja; even with Cloud's withdrawal, they would still have to compete with Stone.
The only gain might be the mission commissions from the Land of Hot Water.
But this was also good; it would expand Konoha's influence in the surrounding minor countries, but the demand made by the Cloud Ninja was difficult to fulfill.
Currently, the Two-Tails was in the hands of Yoichi, and according to the intelligence directly under Hiruzen from the ANBU, Yoichi seemed intent on training the Two-Tails Jinchuriki as a Konoha ninja, which indicated he certainly would not hand over the Two-Tails.
"We need to discuss this further, please stay in Konoha for a few more days."
"If that is the case, then I await a prompt reply from the Third Hokage."
The Cloud Ninja emissary stated somewhat forcefully: "Returning the Two-Tails Jinchuriki is the only demand of Lord Raikage for surrendering. At that time on the battlefield, although he conceded defeat, who would have won had we fought to the death remains unknown. If the Third Hokage does not agree, then the Cloud is willing to show weakness to the Stone."
Showing weakness to Stone essentially means allying with Stone.
Although Hiruzen didn't quite believe that these two deeply hostile ninja villages could unite, anything is possible. If the Third Raikage was truly willing to pay the price, then a coalition between the Stone and Cloud, two of the largest ninja villages, would be formidable.
Hiruzen couldn't even imagine such a scenario; Stone and Cloud have the most ninjas among the five great ninja villages and have always been engaged in an arms race; Konoha was somewhat lucky to defeat Cloud. If they were to face both Stone and Cloud attacking together...
"Threats are useless against Konoha; if there is another war, you only have defeat to look forward to."
Danzo spoke coldly, "Konoha fears no war, nor any provocation!"
"Hmph, then I..."
"Danzo, enough."
Hiruzen interrupted the Cloud Ninja emissary and Danzo, then said, "Please return first, we need to discuss this further."
"Very well, I will await the Third Hokage's message."
After speaking, the Cloud Ninja emissary quickly left the Hokage's office.
Afterwards, leaving Hiruzen and three others, seeing no one else speaking, Hiruzen first asked, "What do you think?"
"There's not much to think about, just the difference between agreeing and not agreeing. If we agree, then we have to convince Yoichi to relinquish the Two-Tails."
Homura spoke, seeing the situation clearly, getting Yoichi to relinquish the Two-Tails would be too difficult.
The current Yoichi even gave him a vibe similar to Madara, similar in temperament but different in actions; he knew how to win over all his clansmen.
Frequently dealing with Konoha's finances, Homura was very aware of the Uchiha's financial power; hearing that they gave their clansmen over two billion every month nearly killed him with envy.
He wished he could also wear the dark blue Uchiha ninja uniform and become an Uchiha.
The current Uchiha truly epitomized having more money than they knew what to do with; and considering how much they gave to their clansmen, how much did Yoichi himself earn?
Homura thought to himself, since the Uchiha could do this, then Konoha might as well. He could discuss this with Hiruzen later.
"He already considers the Two-Tails his own, he won't let it go, and don't forget Mina, she is from the Uzumaki clan and has also awakened the Adamantine Sealing Chains."
Koharu reminded them, "An Uzumaki with the Adamantine Sealing Chains awakened, plus the Two-Tails, now the Uchiha have a Tailed Beast Jinchuriki they can control, plus his Sharingan..."
Danzo remained silent, knowing his suggestion would definitely be rejected by the others, but he felt Hiruzen and the others had forgotten the teachings of Tobirama, seeing the Uchiha clan continuously growing yet doing nothing to restrain them.
He should be the one to become Hokage!
"I'll find some time to talk to Fugaku, then have him take me to Yoichi."
"Hiruzen, Fugaku was here at the Hokage Tower today."
"Today? To see me?"
Hiruzen was surprised; he had been in the office all day and hadn't noticed Fugaku looking for him.
Homura shook his head, "Not to see you, he was here to process a divorce with Mikoto."
"Divorce?"
Hiruzen was puzzled, what was going on?
"Why... How could Fugaku suddenly do such a thing?"
After all, he was a clan leader, who doesn't just casually divorce, although one only needs the intention to divorce, but Fugaku's status was not like others.
"I'm not sure, but I have already sealed this news, and Fugaku also asked the person handling it not to leak it."
"In that case, let's not contact Fugaku for now, I'll think of another way."
Hiruzen lit his pipe, looking somewhat troubled.
He definitely did not want to return the Two-Tails to the Cloud, but he also didn't want to leave the Two-Tails in the hands of the Uchiha; between the two, Hiruzen would definitely prefer to return the Two-Tails to the Cloud while securing benefits for the village in exchange for small country commissions.
But hearing about Fugaku's divorce, Hiruzen suddenly had a bad feeling; he felt that something might happen to the Uchiha clan, especially after the news that Yoichi had activated the Sharingan spread.
The Security Team had already changed; the militaristic faction among the clansmen had greater say, and their law enforcement in the village became more decisive.
---
"What's going on?"
Yoichi approached the center of the arguing crowd; he had been dining nearby but soon heard the escalating dispute.
And the voices grew louder, and when he came out, it seemed that one party was even from the Security Team.
So he came over to inquire.
"Yoichi-sama."
The two Security Team clansmen, seeing Yoichi, showed excitement on their faces; Yoichi was not only the hero who had just repelled the Cloud Ninja but also a Uchiha who had activated the Mangekyo.
Even though these two Uchiha clansmen were older than Yoichi, they still couldn't help but call out 'Yoichi-sama' upon seeing him.
One of them spoke up: "We had just finished our shift, and we planned to come here for a couple of drinks before going back to rest in the afternoon; but these guys, after seeing us drinking, kept mocking us from the side, saying we were wasting Konoha's money by drinking in broad daylight."
Yoichi nodded after listening; ninjas have three prohibitions to adhere to, but drinking a couple of drinks after a mission isn't something anyone can manage, and if it were strictly investigated, from the Hokage down to the Genin, no one would escape.
Then Yoichi turned to the civilians mocking the Uchiha clansmen and asked, "You've all heard their explanation, right? They're off duty now, just like you can have a couple of drinks when you get home at night, right?"
However, one person, hearing Yoichi's reasoned explanation, perhaps thinking he was young and easy to bully, began shouting loudly with a breath full of alcohol: "How do we know you don't have duties? I only see a bunch of useless people, wasting Konoha's money drinking during the day, we've paid our taxes too!"
"I'm giving you face, and you don't want it? When the Uchiha were fighting enemies on the front lines, you were still sleeping in the village. I've killed more enemies with my own hands this month than you've eaten meals. You're not convinced? Fine, I'll give you a chance to be an Uchiha."
Yoichi picked up the two men and threw them back, then said, "Lock them up for seven days to sober them up, then send them to the front lines, give them a chance to protect their country, and let them know what Uchiha clansmen do when they're not drinking."
"Yes, Yoichi-sama."
The two Security Team clansmen said excitedly, then one picked up a person and took them back; previously, if they heard such criticisms, the captain and seniors mostly told them to endure, but now it felt good to have someone backing them.
People around, seeing Yoichi's domineering decision, felt somewhat afraid and then seeing Yoichi surveying the surroundings, quickly dispersed.
Those two men, from the beginning, stood on the opposite side of the Uchiha, and if they encountered them outside, Yoichi would have dealt with them easily.
"Let's go back."
Yoichi said to Yugito; he had almost finished his meal, and there was no need to finish those last few pieces of meat.
But as he was paying, Yugito sneakily watched Yoichi, then, when no one was paying attention to her, quickly picked up the chopsticks and stuffed the freshly grilled meat from the grill into her mouth.
"We're leaving."
"Coming, coming!"
Yugito tried her best to keep the meat inside her mouth, trying to pretend she hadn't eaten anything. However, by the time they reached the door, her mouth was still bulging like a squirrel's cheeks filled with chestnuts.
And Yugito still pretended like she hadn't eaten anything, only managing to chew a bit more when Yoichi wasn't looking.
