Three days later, at the beginning of the month.
Tsunade and Fugaku returned from Amegakure, having handled Nagato's situation.
After reporting to Kyomu, Tsunade and Fugaku went off to attend to their respective tasks.
Tsunade returned to the ANBU to continue her medical research, focusing on White Zetsu's cells, Kimimaro's Kekkei Genkai disease, and the missing Byakugan from the Hyuga clan.
Fugaku shifted his focus back to work, but in his spare time, his second son, Uchiha Sasuke, became his entire focus.
Naturally, Uchiha Itachi was overlooked, but Itachi didn't mind, as his whole attention was also on Sasuke.
As for Kyomu, a new month always brought a new passive skill.
Passive Skill: True Sight Eye
Skill Description: While the skill is active, anything you gaze at for more than five seconds will reveal its truest and most complex form to you.
Note: The true nature of all things includes, but is not limited to, their external essence, internal essence, rules, and derivative essence.
Skill Duration: 30 days
Message: I can see everything, hmm… Don't ask why I whistle, I'm just a bit distracted while exploring the rules of the world.
"Tsk."
Kyomu clicked his tongue, somewhat unimpressed with the skill's description.
What a strange description for such a skill. It should have been something more serious like 'Insight Eye,' 'Knowledge Eye,' or 'Perception Eye.'
He looked down at the documents on his desk. After five seconds, the documents in his vision began to change.
The document remained the same, but Kyomu's mind was flooded with a series of complex information.
The tree that made the paper grew on a high mountain, cut down by three farmers on a sunny day, sold to a merchant for seventy ryo.
The factory that processed the tree into paper was located on the outskirts of the Land of Dragons, involving over ten processes and thirteen people before it was finished.
Then it went through...
Every stage, every person who handled it, the stories behind the text written on it – all this information surged into Kyomu's mind. If not for his strong mental capacity, this sudden influx of information might have overwhelmed him.
He smirked, "This isn't just True Sight, this is the Eye of Causality."
Through a piece of paper, he could see all related direct and derivative information. This was essentially the causal threads of information.
"Too bad I can only see and not sever them," Kyomu shook his head. "What a pity..."
But on second thought, Kyomu felt optimistic.
"Being able to see all associated information means my information collection and analysis capabilities have theoretically reached their limit.
"In this world, no, in any world, the importance of intelligence is undeniable. If I observe things I'm most concerned about, the intelligence I gather..."
Taking a deep breath, Kyomu slapped his thigh, "Incredible!"
Kyomu didn't shout out loud, but the sound of the slap drew the attention of Mei and Yugito.
Though the two women still didn't get along, they could think alike when it came to Kyomu.
"Kyomu, what's wrong?" they asked in unison.
Mei had changed her way of addressing him, possibly influenced by Yugito.
"Nothing, just... I suddenly thought of something happy." Kyomu smiled, directing his gaze to Yugito. "Report today's tasks."
"Alright."
Yugito glanced at Mei before standing up with her notebook and walking over to Kyomu's desk to report.
Kyomu listened attentively but soon found his gaze drifting, avoiding eye contact with Yugito.
A flood of information about Yugito filled his mind – her physical state, health indicators, psychological condition, recent events, her interactions with others, and their statuses...
Every detail was laid bare.
Feeling a headache coming on, Kyomu rubbed his temples. The information was vast and chaotic but useful.
Even unnecessary details could be ignored, not recorded in his brain, allowing normal cognitive function. Yet if needed, he could recall them instantly, which was handy.
The problem, however, lay in the skill's description. Seeing everything laid bare was quite distressing.
Yugito noticed Kyomu's discomfort, her eyes showing displeasure.
Kyomu had always shown respect when speaking to people, naturally making eye contact, which was comforting. But today...
"Kyomu, are you unwell?"
"What makes you think he's unwell?" Mei stood up with her notebook. "Your report was too trivial, lacking personal insight – just a repetitive checklist."
Approaching the desk, Mei propped one hand on it, "Kyomu, I've come up with something recently. See if this approach works."
"Mei, you..."
"Let Kyomu decide."
Exchanging a few words, the two smart women didn't argue but turned their attention to Kyomu.
Ladies, it's not about anything else; it's just that these eyes under the passive skill reveal too much.
Raising his head, Kyomu avoided looking at Mei for too long. As long as it didn't exceed five seconds, her privacy wouldn't be exposed.
Seeing Kyomu's behavior, Yugito smirked slightly, though she didn't speak. Her silent, polite demeanor almost made Mei lose her composure.
"Kyomu, am I doing something wrong?"
"It's not that, it's just..."
"Then it's my fault." Mei's tone was serious. "I'll correct it and refrain from mixing personal opinions in task reports."
"Let me continue." Mei adjusted her notebook, resuming her report.
Kyomu still glanced around, appearing distracted.
"Am I really that inferior to Yugito?" Mei's voice wavered slightly. "You used to be so attentive, but today you're different. Don't think I haven't noticed."
"It's not that, I just..."
"Then look at me when I speak, as you used to." Mei reached to nudge Kyomu, but Yugito blocked her hand.
"You understand but still need him to explain everything?" Yugito stirred the pot.
"Enough, stop guessing my thoughts." Kyomu glared at Yugito, patting Mei's head. "And you, stop overthinking. Just report as usual."
Mei pouted but felt better.
Kyomu finally looked at her properly.
This was normal interaction, reporting work without distractions.
Yugito didn't fan the flames further. She wasn't foolish enough to let emotions interfere with work.
That would be a major deduction in Kyomu's eyes.
Soon, both women noticed Kyomu's odd expression, not his usual demeanor.
Kyomu couldn't help comparing Yugito and Mei after observing them. He found each had their strengths, and both were excellent.
He confirmed their loyalty. Aside from some psychological issues with Yugito, their attitudes were almost identical.
"Kyomu, are you tired?" Yugito asked with concern. "You can rest. We can handle things."
Mei nodded, echoing Yugito, "We can manage your tasks. You just need to review them later."
Kyomu nodded, deciding to take it easy for the month.
"Then I'll..."
"Kyomu, we have results!" Tsunade burst in, not bothering to knock.
"Sister, is it the results I think?"
"Of course!"
Tsunade excitedly slapped a stack of documents on the desk, drank Kyomu's tea, and wiped her mouth before speaking.
"Why are you looking down?"
"Kyomu isn't in good shape today, tired," Yugito explained.
"Tsunade-sama, you can tell us. Kyomu can rest..."
"Quiet, both of you!" Tsunade scolded. "Kyomu, I've got the results you wanted. Don't you even look at me?"
"Sister, it's not that I..."
"Then listen up!" Tsunade, feeling a bit miffed, tugged Kyomu's ear. "I've got what you wanted, and you won't even look?"
"Sister, I didn't mean that, I just..."
"Then pay attention!" Tsunade's initial irritation faded, dragging Kyomu to the sofa.
Yugito and Mei exchanged serious looks, sitting cross-legged to take notes.
"Combining previous research and Kimimaro's real case, I found White Zetsu cells suppress his disease.
"This confirms that the primary cause of Kekkei Genkai disease is excessive power overwhelming the body, specifically severe yang chakra imbalance.
"To treat Kimimaro or others with this disease, we have two main methods.
"First, restrict the Kekkei Genkai's power and usage, a conventional treatment that addresses symptoms but not the root cause.
"Second, based on combining White Zetsu cells with Byakugan and Sharingan research, a combination therapy."
Tsunade explained enthusiastically, and Kyomu listened intently, occasionally offering opinions and feedback.
His usual conversational technique, Tsunade was familiar with.
Kyomu's frequent nose rubbing went unnoticed by her.
"The theoretical foundation is complete. The next step is treating Kimimaro. If successful, we'll have firsthand data on White Zetsu cell transplantation, greatly aiding Obito's future surgery."
"Sister, can we confirm that the Byakugan is associated with yang chakra?"
"Yes, the Byakugan's nature is akin to the Sage Body, as if they're paired. The Sharingan, though, feels like a mutation or foreign element." Tsunade pondered, "I find this puzzling but have included it in our research agenda."
Kyomu nodded, understanding more.
Of course, the Byakugan and Sage Body are paired because the original Otsutsuki clan's eyes were high-purity Byakugan, called Otsutsuki Byakugan.
Their power might exceed even the Tenseigan.
The Rinnegan and derivative Sharingan, however, came from Kaguya's consumption of the God Tree fruit, resulting in downgraded Nine Tomoe Rinne Sharingan.
Thus, the Rinnegan, as a foreign element, explained the longevity and near-immortality attributed to the Otsutsuki.
Without sufficient yang chakra, there's no abundant life force to sustain such longevity. With the correct approach, transplanting the Byakugan and injecting White Zetsu cells into Kimimaro might push him further.
"Sister, do you think Kimimaro can advance further?"
"Hard to say." Tsunade frowned. "With just one Byakugan and White Zetsu cells, he might only achieve balance, not advancement."
"Sister, once the theory and preparations are set, consult Kimimaro and begin treatment. As for further advancements, no rush."
Kyomu rose, entering the office restroom, exhaling deeply as he shut the door.
Tsunade's news was good, and she was wonderful.
Rubbing his nose, Kyomu decided to do something more meaningful.
Seeing Tsunade brought memories of Hashirama and faintly of Hagoromo.
"It's time to examine the Uchiha clan's tablet. It's a crucial link to their family secrets, and they can't hide from these eyes."
Kyomu made up his mind, washing his face to calm down before stepping out.
