I pulled back, staring blankly at Ellis and trying my best not to smile at his idiocy.
He smiled, a dimple popping in his right cheek. "How about it, Em? Would you like to have the honor of being my first scan—"
"Don't finish that. Seriously."
He shrugged, playful color burning around his eyes. "I'm just saying. If a rumor were to spread about me with anyone, I'd prefer that anyone be you."
Alright, that's enough.
"Disgusting," I muttered through a small smile, pushing away from him and the desk.
"You love me."
I paused. Looked at Ellis and his expectant smile. He was prone to baiting me this way. Of all these years we'd been friends—brothers, even—I hadn't ever confessed that to him. And I supposed it was normal for friends to confess their adoration for each other, but again, I wasn't normal. And neither was my relationship with Ellis.
Ellis just casually fumbling the friendship because he's so clueless and out of touch :(
