Chapter 44: Forbidden Sweet Thoughts 

For a moment, Carissa was speechless, the weight of her own words settling heavily upon her. Daisy's inquiry hung in the air, demanding a response. 

"What did you say, Carissa…?" Daisy pressed, her voice tinged with concern.

"Yes, I lied. I didn't tell him about Angelina even when the timing seemed perfect. I just couldn't," Carissa admitted, her voice heavy with regret.

"Why?" Daisy asked, her voice strained with emotion.

"His attitude just put me off. I don't even know why I allowed him to get under my skin," Carissa confessed, her frustration evident.

Daisy was silent, processing Carissa's words, and Carissa understood her friend's disappointment.

"I know. You might be thinking that I messed up and I know well I did, Daisy," Carissa said, her voice filled with remorse.

"You denying having a child is a big thing," Daisy responded, her voice soft but firm, echoing Carissa's own sentiments.
