The overlord grunted and let go of her hands, then reached over to grab her abandoned bowl of porridge, slamming it down in front of her. "Finish it," he ordered.

She tilted her head ever so slightly, nodding subtly. As she began spooning the thin gruel into her mouth, she discovered that for the first time, it didn't taste so bad after all.

The Falcons and the doctor witnessed the interaction that took place before them and shared a look, but they stayed silent. The truth was, they had known since day one that Lily was different. In their world, there was no such thing as kindness, yet kindness was exactly what she represented. She had taken a bullet for someone who could be considered her enemy; this in itself demonstrated a lot of things.
