Chapter 65: Doomed Friendship

Kiara's POV

"You didn't tell me you were friends with Queen Erica. She's such a lovely lady." Aunt Lydia said.

"You are too kind." Erica laughed and took a sip of the tea. Her eyes roamed the tea house and landed on me.

"I received your letter. Thank you for the concern."

I took my seat and let out a feigned smile.She visited me unannounced and was gladly chatting with my aunt.I found it a bit strange.

"Your neice is the sweetest."

"No,I should be thanking you." I said, placing my hand on hers. "You are a life saver,literally."

"Look at you two. Such a beautiful friendship." Aunt Lydia smiled. "You know you are the first proper friend Kiara has ever had?"

"Really? I thought you were good friends with Lilith." Erica asked.

I stiffened and removed my hand from hers.

Aunt Lydia cleared her throat and returned to stirring her tea.
