Chapter 14: The Result Day

After the miraculous restoration of his 'Talent Core', Wu Xie, accompanied by Dan, ventured to the academy on the much-anticipated result day.

The atmosphere was thick with tension. Dan had secured a spot in the prestigious Abyssal Academy, while Minjun had been accepted into Lushan Academy.

However, Wu Xie's name was conspicuously absent from the list of admitted students, leaving him as puzzled as a mouse in a maze.

Just as confusion began to cloud his mind, a guard approached Wu Xie, his presence as commanding as a general on the battlefield.

He relayed a message from the principal of Lushan Academy, beckoning Wu Xie for a meeting. With a heart pounding like a drum, Wu Xie made his way there.

The principal, as wise and inscrutable as an ancient sphinx, revealed the reason behind Wu Xie's omission from the list.

He was not a permanent student, and his admission hinged on his ability to elevate his rank to at least 'F' within the coming weeks.

If he failed to meet this criterion, he would have to bid farewell to Lushan Academy.

Wu Xie, ever the fighter, thanked the principal and assured him of his unwavering determination to succeed.

He then posed a question that had been gnawing at him - why had the principal allowed him to join Lushan Academy without any rank?

The principal, with a knowing smile, responded cryptically, "There is always a reason behind everything, and you will discover why I did this yourself."

Emerging from the meeting, Wu Xie relayed the principal's words to Dan and Minjun.

Minjun, always ready with a quip, suggested that Wu Xie wouldn't stand a chance. He offered him a job as his personal butler, promising a handsome salary .

Wu Xie, however, was as stubborn as a mule in a mud bath. He shot back that Minjun should be more concerned about his own fate.

Amidst their friendly banter, Dan couldn't help but smile. He felt a strong bond forming between them in such a short span of time.

Inspired by this camaraderie, he expressed his desire to join Lushan Academy, hoping that their collective presence would make life more interesting. With this declaration, he initiated the process for academy change.

After their meeting with the principal, Dan and Wu Xie found themselves wandering the bustling streets of the city. As they strolled, Wu Xie's eyes were drawn to a quaint establishment - the 'Xuli Tavern'.

With a mischievous glint in his eyes, Wu Xie suggested they go in there to celebrate their admissions.

They both ventured inside the tavern, its warm, inviting ambiance a stark contrast to the chilly evening outside.

They ascended to the top floor, choosing a corner table that offered a panoramic view of the cityscape. The tavern was abuzz with chatter and laughter, filled with many elites from different academies.

As they were enjoying their wine, Wu Xie's gaze fell upon a familiar face.

It was the same person he had encountered on the streets on his very first day in the city. Intrigued, he turned to Dan and asked about the man's identity.

Dan, with a knowing smile, revealed that the man was none other than Han Li, one of the most renowned students of Abyssal Academy.

Han Li was the eldest son of the influential Han family, which held significant military power. He was also a close friend of Zhou Kyle, the son of the empress.

Wu Xie listened attentively, his eyes never leaving Han Li. He declared that once he became powerful, Han Li would be the first person he would challenge to a fight.

Just as Wu Xie and Dan were engrossed in their discussion about Han Li, an ominous rumble echoed through the 'Xuli Tavern'.

It was a deep, resonating sound. The wooden tables and chairs rattled, the glasses clinked against each other, and the chandelier hanging from the ceiling swayed dangerously.

The ground beneath them began to shake violently, as if the earth itself was rebelling.

It was a sudden, jarring movement that caught everyone off guard. Wu Xie and Dan had to grab onto the table to keep their balance, their conversation forgotten in the face of this unexpected event.

The once lively chatter of the tavern was replaced by panicked screams as the reality of the situation sunk in.

The patrons, who were just moments ago enjoying their drinks and conversations, were now scrambling for the exit.

The tavern was in chaos, with people tripping over each other in their haste to get out.

Han Li, ever the leader, rose from his seat with a calm and commanding presence. He rallied his fellow Abyssal Academy elites, their faces etched with determination.

With a swift motion, they unsheathed their swords, their blades glinting ominously under the dim tavern lights.

They moved as one, heading straight to the roof of the tavern to face whatever was causing the chaos.

In the midst of the pandemonium, Dan grabbed Wu Xie's arm and pulled him out of the tavern.

They started running. As they sprinted away, Wu Xie couldn't help but glance back at the tavern. What he saw next left him rooted to the spot in shock.

A gigantic Demonic Hawk had descended upon the tavern, its monstrous form casting a dark, ominous shadow over the area.

Its feathers, as black as the night sky, rustled ominously as it spread its enormous wings, the span of which was wider than the tavern itself. The hawk's eyes glowed a fiery red, reflecting the malice and raw power it possessed.

From its beak, it spat fire, the flames dancing menacingly against the backdrop of the sky. The fire was a terrifying spectacle, its heat so intense that the air around it shimmered. The flames crackled and roared, casting an eerie glow on the hawk's monstrous form.

The hawk was so enormous that it could easily swallow ten people the size of Wu Xie. Its size was overwhelming, its presence dominating the entire area.

It towered over the taverns. Every flap of its wings sent a gust of wind so powerful that it rattled the windows of the nearby shops.

It was a sight straight out of a nightmare, its sheer size and ferocity rendering Wu Xie speechless. He could only stare in awe and fear at the creature that had disrupted the peace of their town.
