"Why…"
It was the only word Lucien could utter as he rubbed his hands together. He could still feel them somehow, but they remained transparent—ghostly, almost. No matter how hard he tried, they wouldn't return to normal.
"That's what happens to those who are revived," Tritons explained, his voice tinged with pity.
"They're alive, for a time, but their bodies gradually turn transparent, like a ghost."
He paused, his gaze softening as he looked at Lucien. "Until they vanish completely—like air."
"That's why we call them undead, ghosts, or ghouls. The phenomenon itself is known as Phantom Sentience."
Tritons reached out to touch his hands, but his fingers passed through, unable to make contact.
Lucien's face paled, his body trembling slightly. He didn't want to die again—he had already died twice and come back. But if he died once more, what would happen to him?
Leaving my home is more emotional than I thought haha, but it is for the best.
