Chapter 4 Pirate Attack (Part 1)_1

Translator: 549690339

Ah Dai scratched his head, the term 'pirate' didn't leave a deep impression in his mind. Whenever he encountered something unfamiliar, he would decide to go back to his room and ask Goris. To him, the world was so novel, he wanted to understand everything, even if he couldn't remember them all, it wouldn't matter.

"Master, Master, a big ship has arrived from outside and a lot of people are yelling 'pirate, pirate.' What does 'pirate' mean?" As soon as Ah Dai hurried back into the room without even steadying himself, he eagerly asked.

Goris was startled and sat up from the bed, saying, "What did you say? Pirates are coming?"

Ah Dai said, "It's a big black ship with skulls painted on their sails. Some people on our ship are shouting about pirates; I don't know if they are or not."

Goris furrowed his brows. Although he was not afraid of pirates, he still did not wish to clash with them while he was completely ill at ease. He hoped that the sailors on the passenger ship could handle it.

Ah Dai asked again, "Master, what exactly does 'pirate' mean?"

Goris instinctively said, "A pirate is a robber who sometimes even murders."

Upon hearing Goris's explanation, Ah Dai exhaled in relief, chuckling, "Then there's no fear. I don't have anything for them to rob. Ah! Master, you have to be careful though. Your gold coins and the purple coins, they might rob. Better hide them somewhere. Where should we hide them?" As he spoke, Ah Dai went about looking for places to squirrel away their valuables in the cabin.

Listening to Ah Dai's silly words, a warmth surged in Goris's heart. Was he being thoughtful towards me, Goris secretly wondered. It had been so long since he had felt cared for. Goris shook his head in agitation and grabbed Ah Dai, tossing him onto the bed. "Keep quiet."

Ah Dai didn't understand why his master was angry and just sat on the bed, not daring to utter a word.

Ding, ding, ding, ding sounds kept coming and the large ship suddenly shook. Goris, who was standing, had to quickly grab the wall to steady himself. He knew, it must be pirates trying to rob them, as the sounds were made by grappling hooks-being thrown onto their ship's hull. Noisy clamors from outside were intruding and Goris was even more irritated. The rocking of the ship had intensified his nausea, with gastric acid surging upwards, creating an unbearable seasickness.

"Everyone on board, listen, we are pirates. Hurry up and hand over anything valuable, otherwise, don't blame us if our weapons have to spill blood." A coarse shout came from outside, indicating that the pirates had commenced their operation. Goris knew that pirates were not easy to negotiate with, and even if they handed over the money, the pirates might not spare the lives onboard. After all, no group of pirates wants to be surrounded by the Empire of Tian Jing's naval fleet. And the best way to keep a secret was to turn everyone who had seen them into corpses. Sinking their ship was their usual practice - it saves both trouble and time. Goris thought to himself: it seems that I must act; swimming was simply impossible for him.

Goris pushed open the door and went outside, and the sunlight reflected from the sea surface brought even stronger dizziness. Clinging to a railing, Goris couldn't help but vomit.

A pair of small hands appeared behind Goris, patting him gently. Goris suddenly felt much better, and after vomiting the last bit, turned to see Ah Dai anxiously looking at him.

"Return to your room. Quickly." Goris ordered in a stern voice.

Ah Dai was stunned, although Goris's voice was rather harsh, there was no cold indifference in it as in the past, but instead, a hint of concern. Ah Dai remained still, locked into a gaze with Goris. An elderly and a young one silently looked at each other for quite a while. After a long moment, Goris finally realized his lapse of self-control, grabbed Ah Dai, stuffed him back into the room, and ordered, "Do not come out." Having said this, he proceeded towards the noisy lower deck.

The pirates were obviously seasoned criminals, each possessing good skills. They had already maneuvered the passenger ship alongside their own, with dozens of pirates already aboard, brandishing their weapons and shouting. The captain of the passenger ship was leading the sailors gathered on the front deck, their terrified faces evident.

A one-eyed pirate was leading a dozen or so men in a negotiation with the ship's captain. Goris cast a wind-series enhancement spell and was able to clearly hear the conversation between the captain and the pirate.

"Sir, w-we're willing to give you all the profits from this journey's operations. Please let our ship go, I promise not to report it, okay?" The ship's captain was obviously aware of what the pirates might do and pleaded humbly.

The one-eyed pirate laughed heartily, "Profits? How much profit can you have? Stop trying to trick me with these tactics. Stay put and don't meddle. Maybe if we're in a good mood we might leave you with an escape route. But if you want to play any tricks, don't blame me for not showing mercy." He said this and suddenly slashed his scimitar at the ship's hull. With a flash and a bang, a crack instantly appeared along the hull. Goris realized, this pirate leader was not to be underestimated! That seemingly straightforward strike actually contained a high-level warrior's ability to manipulate energy, with the blade of the catch causing considerable damage without touching the hull.

The ship's captain and crew were obviously frightened by the aggressive blow and dared not utter a sound.

The one-eyed pirate arrogantly shouted to his men, "Hurry up, you kittens. Once we've finished this mission, we'll head back and feast on wine and meat." There was an uproar among the pirates. They had nearly opened all the cabins on the first floor of the passenger ship and started their plundering. Any resistance from the passengers was met with kicks and punches. In such turmoil, some of the passengers had already proactively handed over their possessions to the pirates in exchange for temporary safety.

Goris knew it was time for him to step in. These pirates did not pose a threat in his eyes, what he was most afraid of was them sinking the ship. By using wind-series magic to amplify his voice, he was able to send it far away, "Everyone, stop." His deep voice was clearly audible to everyone on both the pirate and passenger ships.

The Pirate Leader's expression stiffened, and he turned towards the direction of the voice. He saw Goris calmly descending the stairs. Silently within his heart, he thought, how could he be this unlucky to encounter a magician? He yelled, "Everyone stop." The pirates clearly saw their leader's hesitance and gathered around him. For a moment, hundreds of eyes were trained on Goris.

Goris coughed a couple of times, struggling to contain his dizziness. He said to the Pirate Leader, "Leave this ship immediately."

The pirates looked at each other, waiting for their leader's command. The one-eyed pirate scrutinized Goris. His heart was pounding. Their band of pirates had not looted for a long time. With such a big fish caught so easily, how could they let go? But the man in front of him seemed to be a high-ranking magician, the horrors of a magician he knew all too well. He tentatively asked, "Sir, are you a magician?"

Goris did not answer his question. Instead, he scoffed, "I'll say it once more, leave this ship immediately."

Before the one-eyed pirate could respond, a sturdy pirate couldn't hold back anymore. He stepped forward, waving his spiked club, and said, "You old guy, it seems like you are tired of living." With both hands clutching a giant spiked club weighing fifty kilograms, he aimed a strike over his head towards Goris.

Prior to that, Goris had applied Wind Magic to himself, hence he certainly wouldn't be scared off by the wild man in front of him. With a slight backward movement, he had already retreated three feet away. With a loud noise, the wild man's spiked club buried deeply in the wooden deck.

Goris extended his right hand, giving a slight shake of his fingers, and a light turquoise powder dispersed, accurately landing on the wild man's spiked club.

A popping sound was heard, and the wild man jumped with fear- the spiked club in his hand started to heat up. Instinctively, he let go of his club, only to be surprised that his steel club was unexplainably melting into a pool of black iron liquid. A foul odor started to waft from it. The wild man recoiled with horror, pointing at Goris, and asked, "Who- who exactly are you?"

The turquoise powder dismissed by Goris was the Melting Gold Powder he synthesized, which was capable of melting nearly all metals.

The Pirate Leader stepped forward and forcefully pulled the wild man back. Politeness emanated from him as he said to Goris, "Sir, you must be an Alchemist. I pay my respects."

Goris extended his right hand and muttered a few Spells- the black flame that had melted the wooden table in front of Uncle Li reappeared in the palm of his hand. Under the sunlight, the black flame seems particularly eerie. The Pirate Leader got startled and blankly stared at Goris.

Goris coldly said, "Do I have to repeat myself a third time?"

While the Pirate Leader was at a loss, a deep voice sounded, "I had been wondering who dared to block my business, turns out it's the famous Flame Wizard Goris!"

Goris was startled, this voice seemed to come from all directions, making it impossible for him to determine the speaker's location, which is a big taboo for magicians not excelling in hand-to-hand combat. What surprised him even more was that the person arriving surprisingly knew his identity. He hastily muttered Spells, and a black mist emerged from his body, completely enveloping everything within three feet of him.

"No need to panic, how would I dare confront Master Goris?" A black figure flashed out of the Pirate Ship, lightly landing in front of Goris.

Goris looked at this person through the black mist. This person had a similar dress style, his entire body was covered by a black cloak, and he was tall. The cloak faintly hinted at his robust physique. But Goris clearly felt that this person did not have a Magic Element fluctuation, he was not a magician, his cloak seemed only to be used to conceal his identity.

"Boss." All pirates simultaneously saluted with respect to this newcomer.

The man in black lifted his hand, the pirates immediately went silent. He turned to Goris and said, "Master Goris, you and I don't intrude in each other's affairs. Why did you feel the need to get yourself involved with our mess? Let's say, after we have looted and sank this ship- we will take you onboard. We guarantee to take you wherever you wish to go. What do you say?"

Goris thought to himself: Do you take me for a fool? Once I get on your ship, won't I be at your mercy? I am not that stupid. "There's no need for that. I'll repeat, leave this ship right now."

The man in black took one step forward, "Since Master is so insistent, how about we at least have a proper fight?" With that, he surged towards Goris like a lightning bolt, his cloak swung up, several black beams darted towards Goris. His speed was so fast that it stunned all onlookers. Goris's Dark Guardian that was manifested earlier did not seem to have slowed down the man, the black radiance aimed straight for Goris's body.

Despite Goris's powerful magic, he was, after all, an Alchemist. He didn't expect that the man would still dare to attack after seeing the Black Flame. He got a shock and brought out something from his bosom in a hurry and flicked it towards the man.

The black radiance accurately hit Goris's body, but the man in black was taken aback because he could clearly feel that he hadn't grabbed onto anything solid. Surprised, he exclaimed, "Well played with your Mirror Clone Technique."
