Chapter 7: Chapter 7 Match Made in Heaven_1
Before Lan Xin Ai understood what was happening, a moon-white wardrobe was pushed in front of her by a maid. "Miss, please select."
The delicate wardrobe was swung open, revealing stunning gowns of varied lengths and colors inside-- a dream wardrobe for any girl.
"No need, I have my own clothes." Lan Xin Ai had barely uttered the words when a maid intervened with a chuckle, "Miss, you're not planning to go out in your wedding gown, are you?"
The young master had rushed her upstairs the night before, and hadn't taken the time to appraise her looks. Now that they were standing so close, her beauty astounded the servants.
The woman the young master brought back was indeed extraordinarily beautiful.
On hearing the words "wedding gown", Lan Xin Ai blinked back the stinging sadness in her eyes, looking down at her nightgown as a blush spread across her cheeks.
The suggestive looks from the surrounding maids were unnerving, causing Xin Ai to involuntarily shrink back, finally leading her to point out a simple dress.
"Miss, your skin is so white, this light purple dress would look perfect."
"No need." Lan Xin Ai glanced at the short dress the maid was holding; it barely reached the buttocks.
"Miss, how about this black dress? It would really enhance your figure." The black dress was even shorter than the light purple sundress.
"I'll take the first dress."
Seeing the maids pressing her to try different dresses, Lan Xin Ai interrupted them, insisting on the sky-blue dress she had initially selected.
"Miss, you look absolutely stunning in this dress."
The maids showered her with compliments, to which Lan Xin Ai simply smiled.
A few minutes later--
"Miss, the young master is inside." A maid pushed open the ceremonial door.
As Lan Xin Ai entered, she saw a man sitting on the couch. He was slightly bowing his head, revealing an aristocratic profile that seemed to exude a cold dominance.
He was leafing through a magazine in his hand. At the sound of her entrance, Xi Yemo raised his eyes, a glint flashing past.
The sky-blue dress was simple in design, but it was naturally bewitching on her.
"You look very beautiful."
"Thank you." Lan Xin Ai missed the look in Ye Mo's eyes, which was oddly reminiscent of a wolf's heat.
"What are you standing there for, sit down." Suddenly, Ye Mo moved beside her, pulling out a chair for her, the perfect gentleman.
The two were suddenly very close, his body emanating a faint grassy scent that teasingly danced around her nostrils.
Feeling uneasy, Lan Xin Ai stiffly thanked him.
Seeing her nervousness, Xi Yemo gave her a smirk and sat across from her.
The maids came in one by one with dishes, all traditional breakfast delicacies, simple yet plentiful.
"Let's eat."
"Yes."
There was a moment of silence. Lan Xin Ai didn't have much of an appetite, her bites were slow, barely eating at all.
"Is the rice tasty?"
The man's words broke her train of thought, and she looked down at her bowl-- all that was in it was plain rice.
"I love rice too. And since you also love rice, we must be a match made in heaven."
Lan Xin Ai choked on her food. What kind of logic was that?
"Sir, can you please not?"
"What's wrong?" Xi Yemo, while enjoying his custard, found this little woman's nervousness absolutely endearing.
"You could mislead people."
"Mislead them about what?"
Lan Xin Ai held her breath, taken aback. She could've sworn she saw a fleeting look of affection in his eyes.
