Chapter 243: Chapter 240 - Occupation of the Principality of Andorra (2)

Under the surprised eyes of all the wizards present, Asterion wearing black armor with red eyes that looked alive, slowly descended from the sky with his crimson cloak over his shoulders. When his armor-clad feet touched the ground, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

Asterion's arrival meant something simple, he had successfully defeated the enemies and they only had to deal with the Wizards and Witches still hiding in the city, preparing ambushes and traps.

Asterion looked at everyone present, from the English lake, of the two hundred and ten wizards and witches he had brought, one hundred and ninety-one remained. Nineteen had died in that first clash of battle. Which made him frown, losing almost 10% of his troops was not a small number.

However, knowing that these wizards and witches weren't used to working together, he assumed that there had been many mistakes in cooperation, but after this battle, everyone would be better off cooperating with each other.

On the other hand, Asterion looked at the Portuguese and Spanish troops, if England lost 9% of his troops, both countries were even worse, losing 12% to 15% of his numbers.

A big price to pay, given that this was only the first battle of the war. Italy had the fewest casualties, around 7% of his troops had been killed or wounded.

Not because the Italians' fighting efficiency was too great, far superior to the other three countries, but the Italian troops entered the battlefield late. This made the eyes of Alastor, Alejandro and Vilar look rather unkind. If it hadn't been for Italy, they might have suffered less damage.

Honestly, if France and other countries had deployed their elite soldiers on the border, the number of victims would have been even higher. Fortunately, all the enemy countries prioritized defending their territories with their elites rather than sending them to their deaths on foreign soil.

"Deputy General, all the corpses must be burned and the ashes of the allies kept for the families." Asterion spoke with a cold, calm tone. Although a death-related Innate Technique was rare, he didn't want zombies appearing on the battlefield and causing chaos, so the best option was to cremate all the dead allies and enemies without distinction.

Alastor nodded, like someone extremely paranoid, he didn't want zombies on the battlefield either, even if the chances of such a thing were minimal, since such innate techniques were extremely rare, although not impossible to appear in the world once again.

"As for you three, I want you to set up a headquarters as soon as possible, we want to take Andorra in half a day, so as not to give France time to try and reconquer it." Asterion looked at the three Ministers of Magic and spoke with a cold tone, sending shivers through the bodies of the three powerful men. He took supreme command just as he should as the main general on the battlefield.

And Alejandro, Vilar and Valentino accepted his orders without much hesitation. Although Valentino was unhappy at being ordered around, but after feeling the absurd amounts of magical energy and negative magical energy dozens of minutes ago, he knew better than to go against his greatest support.

Alejandro and Vilar didn't mind too much, they had both been soldiers when they were younger and were used to being ordered around by their superior, especially Asterion, who had earned the respect of both wizards after the previous fight.

Even though they couldn't see, they could feel the colossal shock coming from the battle. Each attack was like a nuclear bomb, causing simply incalculable damage to all the land around it.

Alejandro looked at Vilar and spoke. "I'll take care of the muggle policemen and the others."

"I'll erect the HQ barriers while Minister of Magic Valentino will be responsible for building the HQ." Vilar answered without hesitation, he was better at barriers than Asterion and he took it upon himself to build the Magical Barriers around the site.

Valentino nodded and with his soldiers, they began to make way, destroying the houses in an orderly and calm manner while the Spanish troops took care of the Muggles on site. Either relocating them or even knocking them unconscious for a while. Something the muggle police and firemen took care of later.

"Irene, burn all the corpses, keep the ashes of our allies, as for the rest, you can let them nourish the earth." Seeing everyone taking their places, Alastor ordered a woman in her thirties with long red hair.

She was Irene Dragnell, Professor of Tactical Training in Magical Self-Defense at Hogwarts and Asterion and Daphne's teacher.

By the way, Hogwarts' Professor of Tactical Magical Self-Defense Training, Edward Milleton, was also present.

Both powerful wizards and witches.

After all, leaving powerful wizards and witches in a school in times of war was simply idiotic. Almost all the teachers at Hogwarts had been ordered to join the army and none had refused the order.

Irene showed a helpless expression, but accepted the order. She never thought that her Innate Technique would be used to burn corpses on the battlefield. "Damn, I don't want to feel human flesh roasting." Letting out a grumble, she walked away with an expression full of helplessness.

Daphne, seeing her teacher walking towards the corpses of her companions, stepped forward and helped with a calm expression.

"You don't have to help me, I can do it myself, you're probably tired." Noticing this, Irene shook her head and spoke in a grateful tone, but refused her help.

She had personally seen Daphne fighting on the front line commanding lightning, destroying England's enemies. How could she accept help from someone so tired.

"Although I'm tired, I can still work like everyone else." Daphne insisted as they walked side by side.

"War really does change people, look at you, now a strong woman." Irene commented with a tone full of relief and helplessness. If it were up to her, Daphne could very well be just like any other muggle teenager, without caring about responsibilities or duties. Unfortunately, in the Wizarding World, you either grew up or the world forced you to grow up.

"I want to fight alongside Asterion." Daphne replied with a calm look, her gaze roaming over her husband a few hundred meters away, talking to the Ministers of Magic.

Daphne had touched a nerve for Irene. "How lovely, the couple are bursting with love." Her although calm, Daphne detected a bitter tone full of helplessness.

She was confused for a while, but remembering that Irene was still single, she understood the reason for her words. "Don't worry, teacher, you'll find your Prince Charming."

Irene rolled her eyes at Daphne's childish words. She looked at the fourteen-year-old girl and commented with a feigned tone of anger. "Only someone with a handsome and powerful husband can talk like that and don't call me teacher, we're sisters in arms, call me by my name."

Having said that, Irene led Daphne towards where the bodies of their companions lay on the ground, covered by simple black blankets.

While Irene and Daphne cremated the bodies and stored the ashes in jars, Nymphadora and her squad scoured the city with wands in hand. There were six people in each squad and Nymphadora's squad leader was Edward Milleton himself, her former teacher.

"We have orders to fight even in front of Muggles, don't hesitate and fight with all your might." Edward was a middle-aged man, around forty, with partly gray hair and cold gray eyes. A scar marked his face below his eyes, extending down to his jaw.

"Captain, what if there are muggles on the premises? Should we avoid hitting them?" Nymphadora asked with a hesitant tone. She could kill wizards and witches without blinking, but she couldn't kill muggles. Call her a hypocrite, but it was like mistreating a defenseless dog that had no way of defending itself against a human.

"If there are any Muggles on the premises..." Edward pondered for a moment, as if choosing the right words, and when he spoke, it sent shivers through the bodies of the other five members of the squad. "If muggles are in the middle of the attacks, just treat it as collateral damage. You won't be held responsible for anything that happens in this war."

Edward's words left all five of them silent, shocked by the situation they found themselves in. Especially Nymphadora, who realized how cruel the war was. Laws, morals, character and religion meant little in the face of the apex of the human race's cruelty - War.

"Traces of magical energy detected thirty meters to the left." One of Nymphadora's companions, called Tom Curley, spoke up at that moment, drawing everyone's attention.

Everyone looked at the three-story building with solemn gazes, but just when Nymphadora thought they were going to go in and kill all the wizards and witches in the building, Edward's next words chilled the blood in her body.

"Destroy the entire building."

Everyone hesitated, but raised their wands towards the three-storey building. Nymphadora was the last, her hand trembling as she closed her eyes. Even with her eyes closed, she could feel her magic being mobilized and concentrated at the tip of her wand.

"Confringo."

With a wave of her wand, a flame shot out from the tip of her wand towards the building, five other identical spells were cast just like it.

BOMMMM!!!!

Nymphadora only heard the sound of the explosion as the three-storey building was completely destroyed in the face of the attacks of six veteran wizards.

A few minutes later, walking through the rubble, Nymphadora felt her foot step on something and looked down. When she saw what she had stepped on, her face turned pale and she hastily retreated. Buried under the rubble, a small child's hand could be seen.

"Concentrate Nymphadora Tonks, this is war, it was just orders and you're not to blame." She muttered to herself, but even a blind man could see that she blamed herself for what had happened.

Looking once more at the arm of the child she had cowardly taken the life of, Nymphadora followed her companions in search of more enemy wizards and witches.

It wasn't just Nymphadora's squad that was doing this. The captains of each squad simply prioritized the lives of their soldiers over innocent lives.

Rather than risk their own lives and those of their soldiers, all the veteran aurors chose the easiest and safest way to resolve the ambushes and possible traps.

Chapter 244: Chapter 241 - City of Calais (1)

England - On the Border between Dover and Calais.

Rose was sitting in an office with her legs on the desk as she read the reports on the regular barriers and searches around the Border. You could say that the border between Dover and Calais was too quiet, being the closest point between England and France.

Surprisingly, France hadn't launched an attack even after a week, which made Rose's cheerful mood completely disappear in the face of so much downtime. Which was very suspicious, given that the war had already reached every country on the European continent.

Of course, one thing that caught Rose's attention, which she had already reported to headquarters in London, was that walls had been erected around the city of Calais and gigantic what she assumed to be magically powered cannons had appeared on the wall overnight.

Honestly, when she felt that these cannons were powered by magical energy, she was shocked, especially when she felt that each shot had the same power as a Grade 3 Wizard, the larger ones had the strength of a Grade 2 Wizard!

Although she knew that Germany was the leader and the pinnacle of humanity today in the manufacture of alchemical items, seeing real magic cannons shocked her to the core. If such a thing could be mass-produced, she could imagine that Berlin had now become a veritable magical fortress that even a Special Grade Wizard would have problems with.

Of course, that was for Special Grade Wizards who had relatively common Innate Techniques that involved their physique; if it was her, it hardly mattered what the barrier was, she could even get past the Hogwarts Barrier, let alone the barrier made by Germany.

However, seeing the magical cannons, a crazy and absurd idea popped into Rose's mind. If such a cannon was possible, why couldn't a cannon with the strength of a Special Grade Wizard be possible? When such an idea appeared in her mind, even she found it ridiculous, after all, to make such a weapon required a Special Grade Wizard to use it.

But why create such a weapon when a Special Grade Wizard was much more effective than that, after all, the wizard could move around and the cannon couldn't and was limited to staying in one place. The work wasn't worth the reward.

"But if you solve the energy problem, it's possible for even a Grade Five Wizard to have the power of a Special Grade Wizard." Rose muttered to herself, thinking about the possibilities passing before her. Although it was an unfounded theory, she still decided to report her suspicions to Headquarters.

As she was about to write the report to London, Rose heard someone knocking on her office door. "Come in." She spoke in a calm tone.

As soon as she spoke, the door was opened and surprisingly, Hermione walked into the office holding a stack of papers, which made Rose's face immediately look full of disgust at the pile of paper. In one week, Rose assumed she had signed at least a thousand papers!

At that moment, she hated any pile of papers and treated them as if they were formidable enemies.

"General Potter, the papers relating to the magical potions and two reports from London Headquarters." Hermione placed the pile of papers on Rose's desk and spoke with an incredibly serious and formal tone.

Rose ignored Hermione's formal speech and picked up the two reports from London with a serious look on her face.

The first was from Dumbledore warning that all of England's internal defenses had been successfully erected and fortresses had been erected throughout the country. You could say that the second phase of the country's defense has been successfully completed and England can now send more troops abroad without being too worried about being invaded in a short time.

The second one that caught Rose's attention was Asterion's report on the situation on the Spanish-French border. Apparently, the Allied forces have successfully taken the Principality of Andorra and are building their headquarters there.

At the same time, he explained how the fight between the Special Grade Wizards went.

"Two dead, one enslaved, one subjugated and one escaped..." Rose muttered to herself with an incredulous expression mixed with a touch of envy.

Especially the death of Herpo's Horcrux brought her an enormous sense of satisfaction, she had wanted to kill that corpse-desecrating Greek mummy for a long time!

Rose's mood was lifted by reading the description of the fight, and she couldn't help cursing fate for always putting Asterion in the most interesting place. However, France having hired Special Grade mercenaries to fight in the war was something that took her by surprise.

Rose wondered if there were any Special Grade mercenaries in the city as well. If there were, she would finally have a warm-up for the fighting to come.

Hermione, seeing Rose's expression, quickly noticed that this was a serious matter; it wasn't often that she saw her friend showing such an expression. As for applying for the war, Hermione didn't hesitate to follow Rose, despite her parents' protests, but she couldn't leave her best friend alone, so she applied to be Rose's secretary.

As Rose's secretary, she could see files that were confidential, including the death tolls that were being passed around all the time. She was shocked to learn that at least a thousand wizards and witches had died in less than a week around the planet.

Especially on the border between Russia and Ukraine and Poland, the place had become a human meat grinder, the highest number of casualties at the moment being from that place. Russian Minister of Magic Dmitri Ivanov attacked the border in full force. If it hadn't been for the arrival of reinforcements, Ukraine and Poland would have been successfully invaded by Russia.

"Hermione, pass on the orders, we want to test the forces in Calais." Rose said, drawing Hermione's attention, who looked at her friend in surprise.

Yes, Rose had decided to attack, or rather test the waters, she wanted to know how many enemies there were in Calais so that she wouldn't be taken by surprise like Asterion had been.

"Are you sure? Attacking might give the wrong idea that we're going all out, it might make the other countries stand guard, especially the Netherlands." At that moment, Hermione was no longer the little girl who had just entered the Wizarding world, she knew about politics and how she would get involved in it in the future.

Perhaps every English wizard knew a little about politics, it was in their blood.

Movements in Calais could cause troops in the Netherlands and Denmark to move too, which would stress England's eastern border.

"Don't worry, I won't move, we're just testing how deep the waters are in Calais." Rose reassured her friend with a charismatic smile on her face as she looked out over the city miles away with a sly grin.

'I won't move until there's a Special Grade, if there is one... be prepared not to come back alive.' Rose thought as a typical villain's laugh seemed to echo in her mind.

"No! I'm the heroine of the story, how can there be a villain as beautiful and handsome as me!" Rose muttered to herself, although she didn't have much confidence in her own words. For some reason, her fiancé's face appeared in her mind, making her lips twitch unnaturally.

Maybe she's the villain...

Hermione, after listening to Rose's orders, saluted and left the office with an incredibly serious expression, it was the first time that Dover HQ had attacked Calais!

Hermione felt like she was back in the Hundred Years' War, Calais was the starting point and would be her starting point as well as many other wizards and witches in this city now controlled entirely by wizards.
