Chapter 13: Chapter 12: Room visit and unwelcome interruption
I pulled her towards me and said, 'Come here.' I saw the shock on her face, and she began to stammer, 'Wh..at..'s happ..eni..ng?' I replied, 'What do you think is happening?' She seemed hesitant, looking shy, so I pulled her unexpectedly. She started speaking, 'I'm not sure. You tell me.' I could see her hesitation, and as she appeared unsure, she said, 'I think we need to wait.' Then I added, 'I think you're beautiful, and I admire you.'
She pushed me away, distancing herself. Realizing I failed, I apologized, 'I'm sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable.' She responded, 'No, you didn't. It's just surprising, maybe too fast. We've recently met, and you also live 30 feet away from Audrey and Lola. Maybe you don't really want to kiss me.'
Oh, this girl has a real trust issues. I turned her towards me and asked, 'Why is that?' She turned her face and said, 'Let's get back home; we're running late.' Not wanting to pressure her, I replied, 'Alright, let's go back.'
On the way back, I tried to break the tension, asking her, 'This place is beautiful. I haven't even asked you what this place is.' She replied, 'It's an old hunting cabin. We come here to talk, sit in the chairs, and pretend we're fishing.' I said, 'Wait, you pretend to fish?' She explained, 'There's no fish in the water. We just swim here sometimes, and other times, we bring a bottle of wine and spend time playing.' I suggested, 'We should do that soon. I mean, I'd love to join you girls.'
Expecting her to refuse after what happened, she surprised me, saying, 'Okay, we can do that tomorrow. I think Lola will be home too, and we'll make it happen.' that's wonderful . I will go out with the girls. We continued the way home in silence.
After arriving at the front door, she asked, 'What do you plan to do now?' I replied, 'Hmmm... I don't know. If Lorus doesn't give me something to do, then nothing.' She started laughing and said, 'So, Loris is your boss.' I answered, 'I don't know, and I don't think so... but since I'm new here, he'll show me how to work for a while.' She laughed again and said, 'I've never heard of an under-butler? Buttlerling. Hahaha.' I joined in the laughter; it was a good joke.
Before I left, she stopped me and said, 'Do you want to come inside? We can talk more, and maybe find something to do.' Why not, as I currently have nothing to do. So, I said, 'Alright, we can do that.' I knew what she meant; I was curious about how she would react. After a moment, she blushed and looked away while muttering, 'Okay, let'...s go.. in...side.'
We reached her room, and I noticed she was freezing and doesn't move . She seemed extremely shy. I reassured her, 'Just open the door; your room won't be worse than the place I used to live.' She started smiling, opened the door, and said, 'This is my room. I personally picked the furniture last year.'
In reality, it was a beautiful and organized room. I told her, 'It's beautiful and looks comfortable.' She continued, 'I have everything I need – a bed, desk, TV, computer.' I remarked, 'It looks very modern, while the hallway still seems stuck in the Middle Ages.' She explained, ' mistress Lara lets us decorate the way we want. Your room looks good too; I helped with its decor. Does it look manly enough?'.
I replied, 'Judging by all those hunting trophies on the wall, overall, my feeling about the room, yes, it's manly.' I saw satisfaction in her eyes; she must have put a lot of time and effort into making the room look beautiful. My opinion brought her happiness.
She jumped on the bed and started tapping the side as a signal for me to sit beside her . I took a step towards the bed when I heard the room door open behind me.
I heard Maria saying, 'Hi Audrey.' When I turned towards the door, I saw Audrey looking angry and saying, 'What is he doing here?' Ouch, she could have just called me by my name, but never mind. I said, 'Hi Audrey,' but she ignored me and continued talking to Maria, saying, 'You shouldn't let him enter your room.'
I saw sadness in Maria and she said, 'Why not?' I felt like a ghost with the way she talked about me and said to her, 'I'm standing right here.' She replied, 'I know that.' Then Maria started defending me, saying, 'He's not like that; he's nice and kin...' Audrey interrupted her, saying, 'You don't know that. I want to talk to you anyway.'
I spoke up, 'Maybe you can join us. We were having a conversation.' She said, 'Um... It's getting late, and our show is about to start on TV.' I saw Maria's surprised look, and she said, 'show? What sho...' Audrey cut her off, 'You know, our show.' Maria replied, 'Oh yes, I remembered.'
I could tell Audrey just wanted me to leave, but it's okay. Making enemies is not a good idea right now. I decided not to continue the fight and leave them. I said, 'Alright, I understand. I'm leaving.' Before I left, Maria said, 'I'll talk to you tomorrow,' and Audrey also spoke, 'Yes, see you then.' I said, 'Okay, good night,' before closing the door. I heard Maria saying, 'I'll change into my pajamas and jump straight into bed.'
Well, it seems this horse will return to the stable alone. On my way to the door to exit, I started thinking... There's no way they can catch me; I'll be cautious. It's not my style. But these thoughts have always been in my head, trying to escape and take control. So, I decided that...
