After a piercing scream, Ethan Montgomery glanced up at them briefly before sweeping Avery Miller into his arms and striding away.

"Hey, where are we going?" she asked, startled by his sudden movement.

"To a place where we can talk in peace," he replied, his face hovering above hers.

Avery pressed her cheek against his solid chest, her ear against his steady heartbeat, reminiscent of the most enchanting fairy tales of her youth. At long last, her prince had arrived! She looked up to see his face, the soft light of the pale blue sky casting gentle glimmers across his sharp features. His face, though pale and lean, was strikingly handsome, enough to break hearts.

"Has anyone ever told you that you're devastatingly handsome?" she blurted out unintentionally.
