Chapter 171: No Longer Letting You Down

Avery Miller woke up with her body still draped over his. His arms were wrapped around her waist, holding her tightly as he slept deeply.

Avery watched him quietly for a moment; his eyes were shut tight, his expression serene. She reached out and gently traced her finger down one of his thick, well-shaped eyebrows. Avery caressed it for a while, then couldn't resist leaning over to give him a gentle kiss.

If only it could always be like this, with you holding me when I wake up each day, allowing me to trace your features and kiss your dark hair, to hold your hand and grow old with you—that would be wonderful! Sadly, I know you won't always treat me this way...

After a moment's thought, she felt a tinge of sadness, withdrew her hand from his face, and gave him a gentle push, whispering, "Ethan."
