Chapter 71: Taking Her Away

On the other side, Avery Miller was lost in thought, worried sick about Elijah Martinez and his condition, given the severity of his injuries and his unconscious state. 

Ethan Montgomery noticed the concern in her eyes. His slender fingers gently rested on the back of her hand, his eyes soft and comforting like a tranquil pool.

"Don't worry, he'll be fine," he reassured her, and his words brought her some relief. If he said it would be alright, then it must truly be so.

"Can I... can I go see him?" she asked hesitantly. After all, it was because of her that he was injured. She felt guilty and worried about him.

Ethan Montgomery remained silent for a long while, his deep gaze freezing. He looked into her eyes for an eternity until she lowered her head, no longer daring to speak.

"Wait until you're fully recovered," he finally said. He was actually worried that seeing Elijah in such a state would upset her.
