Chapter 1: The Beginning After The End

In a vast and unlimited void, mostly filled with darkness. One that was barely illuminated only by magnificent lights that almost had no end, separated but distributed throughout that infinite void.

Each one of those lights was a world, each one containing an exorbitant amount of universes, lives, and stories. That place, the void, which was outside of the normal space-time structure of the worlds but connected with all of them; thus forming the most fundamental level of creation.

In that same void; so impressive yet lonely, that only a few hundred beings in all of creation could cross on their own with their physical bodies without depending on powers. In that place, an eastern dragon of colossal size could be seen traveling through it.

With a size and length even larger than those worlds themselves, that dragon had golden horns shaped like antlers, violet reptilian eyes and a serpentine body full of white scales that carried what seemed like a world on her back.

Without a doubt, The dragon was a being of immeasurable power, just because she was able to easily survive even in the environment of the Void solely based on her physical body.

That same existence traveled through the void as she used to do in most of her free time. She was trying to find something interesting in any of the worlds, something that would relieve her boredom at last momentarily. At that moment...

(Hmm~?)

Something similar to a comet came into her field of vision, it was pure white and she was not able to clearly distinguish what it was. That thing was only of the size of a supernova, something tiny compared to the dragon or even the surrounding Worlds.

And it was certainly something that could fulfill the dragon's wish to be entertained at least a little. (Interesting...) thought the dragon as she observed the trajectory of that peculiar existence, this time with much more attention.

There was something capable of crossing the void on its own in front of her. Normally they would be powerful beings, but she couldn't sense such a thing coming from this.

Normally the dragon would think that she would rarely be so surprised, however, she was proven wrong as she sensed something in that thing. Something that caused a burst of disbelief from the being that had seen so many things.

An Authority. A Key to that throne. the symbol of the absolute superiority of those many candidates to inherit that throne. Even if it was just a seed of it, it was absolutely absurd.

Only a few chosen ones obtained authority after reaching a certain amount and quality of power and after getting recognized by the center of Little garden.

(A being that was born already with a seed of authority...what the hell is this bastard, the illegitimate son of the throne or what?!)

The dragon knew for the first time what envy was. Although she had been immensely blessed because she was born destined for the top of creation as the dragon with the purest blood in Little Garden. But this being's situation was utter nonsense.

(Still...a candidate to the throne in his most infant state...how curious...really curious~) The dragon then remembered that her group had been looking for participants to represent them in that special war in which human blood was a requirement to participate.

However, there was already one candidat for that; that Hindu hero who sought to take revenge against his father. But the dragon was anxiously waiting to see what would happen if she let this little one grow as her own and sent him to destroy the plans of those pesky old men.

(Now that I think about it...since the tragedy of those vampires, I haven't taken another knight, it seems it's time to fix that)The dragon decided on her course of action, waiting to meet this being. What would he be like? And above all, what would his craving be?

Thus, as the comet quickly receded into the distance. Without any apparent direction or specific goal beyond wandering in the void.

The dragon quickly took action and flew with an immeasurably fast speed, ready to intercept that little one to satisfy her desire for entertainment and curiosity.

That being was unlucky to have caught her attention. Dragons were creatures that would never let go of what they saw as their own. Or maybe it was a lucky thing for him, only time would tell.

***

Was he alive?, Why?, How?

Amid the chaos of his flickering consciousness, like a radio losing signal. Questions filled his being, not with hope for his survival, but with weariness. After all, he had died on his own terms after accepting his death.

He had nothing to live for, all lost in a life full of misfortune. Was he going to meet God or be sent to hell? Or was he going to be reincarnated? He didn't know nor cared, but if it was possible, he wanted to forget, again.

Little by little he felt his memories coming back to him, his being seemed to be rebuilt, and that only made those questions repeat themselves with more force.

His identity was the first thing that came back.

Son, boyfriend, Apprentice, vengeful ghost, the thirteenth, best friend, leader, founder of the orphanage. He felt like he was leaving something behind, but maybe... maybe he would remember it later.

Yes, that was the past that had defined him, who was he then? Then the name came; Mikhael. A human from planet Earth was born in the 21st century. Raised in a wealthy family that adopted him after he was abandoned at birth.

Cause of death? Was it a... plane? Yes, a plane. The parachute broke as he had predicted before that. An extremely funny death considering how many people probably tried to kill him in the past.

Probably; a crucial word. Because Mikhael did not remember much of his memory at a certain point in his life. Was it caused by an accident? No, he had erased it himself.

He could remember it if he wanted to, he could do so at will. But every time he even thought about it, a dull ache filled his heart; a terrifying sorrow he knew all too well. So he left it alone.

While his life was undoubtedly extraordinary, as if it were an equivalent price, it was... sad, there were no other words to describe it from his point of view.

Leaving aside bad memories that flashed involuntarily in his mind, one of a rainy street, one of a hospital bed, and one of a regretful smile.

Mikhael would simply wait for something to happen, whether some higher being would come to judge him or he would be stuck in some sort of limbo.

"I don't feel like you're a very contemplative person... Little one, are you perhaps depressed or something?" A female voice with a certain playful character suddenly came to Mikhael's mind, interrupting his acceptance of that fate.

It strangely allowed him to clearly imagine a problem child who saw something interesting half-dead on the road. Still, he didn't believe it was the biblical god, it wasn't to sound sexist or anything.

But it was deeply strange for some reason to imagine the biblical god as a woman. Was this DxD or something? Would God be a woman with big...? No, it would be better to cut that thought.

"Hmmm, what do I do with this little one now? I'm a dragon, not a psychologist, and I don't have any antidepressants on hand either."

Wait, what? Mikhael couldn't feel any part of his body, it seemed like he was in some kind of spiritual state, but that didn't stop him from doubting his ears.

Did this being claim to be a dragon?! A god in charge of creation was one thing, but a fantastic creature that came out of nowhere was another. A throbbing feeling of disbelief filled him as his being became active once again.

If something as fantastical as a dragon existed...

It should be possible to bring back the dead, right?, right?!, Right?!?!. Even with his life experience, he couldn't help but feel his heart trembling at the prospect of seeing them again...

"I forgot to mention it because the reposition of your consciousness was unexpectedly a pain in the ass but you should be able to see and speak by now, Little One."

Opening his eyes with abrupt suddenness, even if he didn't have eyes, because he wouldn't be stopped by anything at that moment. In doing so a spectacular image entered his field of vision.

Amidst the grandeur of outer space, a shower of stars seemed to be painted in the background. It was absolutely beautiful. An unreal feeling filled him as he looked at the scene, not because of the flatness of what seemed like a planet whose surface was an absolute wasteland.

But because of the magnificent being in front of him, everything else there seemed to pale in comparison to her beauty. Although some might think that Mikhael had seen a beautiful woman, the reality was quite the opposite.

What stood before him was a huge eastern dragon looking at him with what seemed to be a look of pride as she noticed his admiration. These two purple eyes with vertical pupils looked at him with amusement.

The dragon was like a being that induced others to worship her, an aura of grandeur and dominance was exuded from its very bones. Such a being was undoubtedly beyond the understanding of normal people who would panic.

But as if were to show the nature that wouldn't be erased even if his memory was lost again and again, Mikhael pulled himself together, looking the dragon in the eyes as he talked.

"I don't know what you want from me, if it's just entertainment or if I have some use." The young man's voice echoed somehow in the wasteland, probably the work of the dragon, who just looked at him with deep interest.

"So excuse the disrespect, but I just want to ask you one thing before anything." The dragon began to move around the young man as if she had become angry. But all she received was the unshakeable gaze of the being whose soul shone like a star.

"..."

Such a stare-down lasted for a few seconds before the dragon began to laugh heartily. "Kahahaha. It seems my eyesight was right, you are a very interesting being, little one. Even a god who used planets as marbles would tremble in my presence. Is it stupidity or courage? I still don't know."

"But, to celebrate the predestined meeting between us, I'm going to answer that one question." The dragon stopped its movement in front of the young man, its body flying against the laws of gravity as it looked at him expectantly.

"Choose carefully, brave little one, because I'm going to answer just one question, any question you want."

The silver figure then asked without hesitation, about the only thing that mattered to him at the moment. "Is it possible to revive the dead, in a way without any disgusting consequences or grotesque side effects?"

The dragon's eyes seemed to widen for a moment before they narrowed, focused on the young man and his question, that moment of silence seemed like an eternity to Mikhael's hanging heart.

"It seems like you want to revive someone... Are these past regrets? No, that's not the point. I'll tell you, little one, once you reach a certain level, you can freely do a lot of things."

The dragon's voice sounded like a superior advising a junior or like someone who reached the end of a road warning the one who was starting it.

"Little one, remember these words: If you want something, take it, regardless of who gets in the way, you have the qualifications for such tyranny. But to answer directly; Yes, it is possible."

Relief filled Mikhael's existence as his legs lost the strength previously displayed. It was possible. Reversing the tragedy was possible. Bringing back what was lost.

"Is that so?... I'm glad...I'm really glad."

The young man's slightly shaky voice seemed like someone who had received a miracle and the dragon's gaze softened a little at the boy who seemed a little different from all the other candidates.

"I am glad from the bottom of my heart..."

That was the moment when the young man received the first salvation of his second life. The beginning of everything is caused by the encounter between the mortal and the dragon.

"I am glad to be able to meet them again"
