Chapter 2: Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Seven days after my birth I started noticing that a great many new faces came to visit me. I assume this might be something like celebrating my birth.

Though the sheer number of visitors is simply astounding.

I was given a summery on the Cardinal world as two of my previous incarnation inhabited it and from what I've learned I was most likely born in the Sorcerer's Dynasty of Sarion. They are one of the major powers in the world. I was even told that I had something like a friendship with a women named Sylvia El Ru who is supposed to be royalty. I must admit I was surprised, it's not like befriending royalty is something anyone can do.

Anyway, back to the visitors, from what I've seen of them they all look to be wealthy and all important looking, some even have crowns.

'Those waring crowns are the thirteen kings of the Sorcerer's Dynasty.'

'Interesting but why are there kings attending my birthday or whatever this gathering is about?'

'You have likely been reborn into one of the thirteen families, also this is likely your naming day. Elves grant a name to their children seven days after their birth as the number is seen as lucky and a representation of magic in the world.'

'Interesting but you told me that if anyone tries to name me, they will die, right? Since I am considered a magical being and all that.'

'Not necessarily, if one more powerful than you names you then it's unlikely for there to be problems, you could also name yourself or have a group try to name you as to reduce the chance of death.'

'And what's the likely hood that someone more powerful than me will be here to name me?'

'One in a billion.'

'YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!! WHY EVEN MENTIONE IT AT THAT POINT!'

'Sylvia El Ru is likely as strong as you are currently. If she attends and you give me permission to speak to her then I can convince her to name you, or worst-case scenario convince her to have the country in its entirety name you. That should be enough to avoid any unwanted accident. A Similar thing happened to Guy Crimson when he was first summoned to this world, replicating it should not be much of an issue. Incidentally you could also consume magicule reserves from the discarded skill to assist the individual naming you.'

'No, I don't want your existence to be known by others, I will create a story to cover for my knowledge of the world, but I rather keep some secrets to myself and using those reserves is acceptable to me.'

Suddenly everything went quiet and the most graceful figure I have ever laid my eyes upon entered the room. As she did every one rose from their seat and bowed their heads. Some like the servants bent both knees then bent so low as to touch the floor with their heads, others bent at the waist and others still simply inclined their heads.

One could understand the structure of the Sorcerer's Dynasty just by seeing this sight.

The women I assume to be the empress approached me in all my naked glory and laid her hand on my stomach, that is when I took my chance and created a link between us and activated thought acceleration to its maximum power.

Luckily, I did not need to learn the language since Dominus already knew it.

'Hum, hello there…

'…'

What? Can't she understand me?

'Um, I don't mean to be rude, but you should stop them from naming me, I am too powerful, and I'd rather not have others die for me.'

'… You are a reincarnation?' I felt that her statement was less of a question and more her reaffirming her conclusion.

'Indeed, I am, though this isn't my first go around, as a matter a fact I was friends with one of your relatives, or maybe ancestor? Anyway, do you know Sylvia El Ru, I would appreciate if you could call her, we use to be something like friends.'

'How do you know of her?'

'Um… Well guess it's fine if I tell you, I am the reincarnation of the founder of Ulgreicia, long ago when you immigrated here there were tensions between the natives and the Elves, that was when I met Sylvia and we agreed on partitioning the land so that we could avoid war.'

'I see, and now you've been reborn as an Elf.'

'Yeh, the irony of life, but back to our muttons, what should we do? I am technically a magical being and not an Elf so naming me is the same as naming a monster. I doubt anyone could name me before dying and even then, it might not work.'

'What makes you think that? I must admit you are strong for a newborn but its nothing I haven't seen in other reincarnates…' I let some of my power leak just for her to understand that I am doing my best to hold back and although I could not see her face due to the vail, I could feel that her blood went cold when I showed her just the tip of the iceberg.

'No need to worry I have it under control, but I will say it again, naming me is a really bad idea. From my understanding there are three ways to go about it and I doubt you will like any of them so you should find a way to stop this ceremony.'

'I see… preventing others from naming you is doable but what then?'

'For the naming I honestly don't know. Maybe a True Dragon will be kind enough to name me, though I doubt it. There are other ways to go about it such as a naming by acclamation similar to Guy Crimson but in the end its not all that important. No one other than a true dragon or one on par with a true dragon could be safe when naming me.' There is more to life than a name though I am pretty sure most magicals would disagree with me on that.

'Tell me, would you like me to adopt you?'

'Um… hey lady I don't even know you, if anything I am simply trying to avoid a disaster here, I don't know how you when from that to adoption, but I doubt my parents will be happy about it.'

'Now, now, you know that you are speaking to an empress, right?' she said with meur in her voice.

'And you know that I could give that empress a spanking even in my current state, right? You can't take a child from its parent simply because it's convenient, if I agreed to such a thing then I might as well have left when I understood what was happening.'

'I see, from your point of view I would be depriving them of a child, but in truth it is the greatest honor anyone in the Sorcerer's Dynasty Sarion could hope for. You would become one of the three most influential people in Sarion and your parents would be glorified for it. At the same time, you could make use of your popularity to get a name by acclamation.'

'Not a bad plan I must admit but what do you get out of it? Oh, I warn you if you say something like getting a weapon, I will give you a spanking, and no I am not joking.'

I could feel giggles reverberate in my mind then a serious voice answered my query.

'What I get out of this is quite simple, I get you. Reincarnated individuals are a lot more common now a days, we even have rituals that force other-worlders to cross over, all for the sake of making them into weapons as you previously said. Sarion is one of two countries that chooses to not follow in the trend. Those other-worlders, as powerful as they might be, are enslaved the moment they cross over. Though there are exceptions such as my fellow disciple Leon Cromwell and like with him I will only ask one thing in return, help us if we ever need it. We follow the philosophy of self-preservation; we don't need others to protect us however that is not to say that we are so arrogant that we can claim to be unbeatable. There are beings out there that could destroy our civilization by barely trying, it is those abnormalities that we all fear. I wish to believe that you have been reborn here, as an elf, for a reason. So, tell me, will you protect your own kind from the true monsters of the world?'

That was… quite the speech, I didn't think of it that way. I was shown the memories related to the Dragon princess's rampage and I can honestly understand how precarious the lives of the weak are. She is right I was reborn as an elf (technically), a truly powerful one, the least I can do is protect my people.

'I… accept' in the end that was all I could say.

As soon as we agreed I removed the thought acceleration and Elmesia removed her hand from my stomach before coming closer and taking me into her arms.

"Lady Elma, I offer to adopt the child as my own."

The empresses' words and actions threw the room into chaos, but I was too busy recovering from what Dominus told me.

'Report, the empress of the Sorcerer's Dynasty Sarion possesses an ultimate skill, after analyses it has been determined that the Ultimate Skill Vayu, Lord of Heavenly Wind is the skill in question.'

'What the FUCK! You said that people with ultimate skills are supposed to be rare and that I won't meet any for a long time, was that all a joke to you?!'

Oh my god, I just threatened to spank her… I am so dead.

'Does she know that I have you?'

'As per your instructions I have suppressed your aura and made sure that your abilities are hidden through the use of Oblivion, thus the chance she managed to find the ultimate skill within you is zero, however she certainly suspects that you have at least one or two unique skills.'

Well, that's better than nothing, I guess.

"Your grace…" Those I assume to be my parents fell to the ground groveling "We are honored that you would judge our son worthy."

Well, I guess that's done. Goodbye parents. At least I won't need to play the baby anymore, though I will miss them. They were good people.

I might not have understood everything about my adoption or the elves for that matter, but I certainly did not expect for my adoption to become akin to a historical event.

Another weak passed since I was adopted by Elmesia and today will be my second naming day. What I did not expect was for a presentation in front of millions of elves to replace last time's quiet ceremony.

I was in Elmesia's arms, still naked of course these elves and their traditions *sigh* In front of me was an endless sea of people, at this point I was less scared than I was excited as to finally receive a name. Elmesia and I discussed it for a while, and we agreed that an elven name would be preferable, so we ended up choosing…

The guards banged their spears on the ground to silence the crowed and that was when my name appeared in front of everyone with great fanfare.

And as everyone spoke my name Elmesia joined in with her voice overshadowing all others.

"I name you Althen" The more people spoke my name the more powerful I felt, at the same time I was filled with emotions, hopes and desires that did not belong to me. Dominus warned me of the drawbacks of acquiring a name by acclamation, those being subordinate to the will those naming me, then again, this also applies to an even greater degree when named by a single individual. Thankfully Dominus is capable of filtering it all out. I am my own person, that is the very principle behind my legacy skill so no one could influence me in anyway shape or form. This was actually a sort of trap laid by Elmesia to make sure I honor my word, but I chose to turn a blind eye to it since I was assured that it wouldn't work unless I allowed it.

'Report, the naming ceremony has been a success. Two hundred and seventy-nine individuals have died naming you, what do you choose to do with them?'

'Wait people still died? Wasn't all this so that we could avoid them dying?'

'Indeed, and the operation was mostly a success, those who died understood the reason behind the naming and willingly allowed themselves to be sacrificed. Only seven were accidentally killed, though their deaths can be considered to be natural as they were all close to death, at most hours away from dying naturally.'

I wasn't exactly happy about it all but there was simply nothing I could do about it. Nevertheless, I must deal with this.

'I think it's time you answer some more questions, what happens to those who died for me when I use my skill on them. Do they get completely consumed? Or is it that I take the power in them and leave their real selves be free?'

'It all depends on your will, Oblivion and Legion are at their core only partially life-or-death system skills, though they can act within those domains. You can imprison individuals and even stray souls for eternal torture within Oblivion however Legion is different, unless you've captured the soul within Oblivion the legionnaire you get would be no more than a lesser copy of the original.'

Well given the situation the least I can do is not let their deaths be for nothing.

'I see, then I assume you can analyze their skills?'

'Correct.'

'Take the skills I don't have but that could prove useful then make the others a part of Legion, do not take any of their souls, as a matter a fact only take the souls of my enemies and those I care about, the enemies go into Oblivion directly and those I care about should be stored in Tyrant. Transfer the useful skills to the remaining Legionnaires.'

'Understood, common and extra skills from seven individuals have been adsorbed. Making an intrinsic copy. Successful, discarding the original skills, storing the magical residue. One hundred and seventy-two Legionnaires have been added.'

'Why didn't you keep the skills for me?'

'Common and extra skills are of little use, furthermore those taken were for the most part domestic skills, only the "Strengthen Body" extra skill can be considered adequate.'

Guess he knows what he's doing, I should just shut my mouth and let him do his thing.

'To be clear where are the Legionnaire living?'

'They are stored within the skill itself.'

'Can't you let them out in one of my worlds?'

'It is possible, would you like me to deploy them?'

'Yes, please send them to the world currently growing within me.' I should give it a name, but I have the feeling that doing so would be no different from my naming, so I rather wait until I am big enough to go and consume some powerful individuals. 'Also don't simply have them waiting over there, make them build something, a castle, a city, farming, anything as long as they are productive. Also continue to do the same with future Legionnaires until further notice.'

'Understood, however due to their lack of intelligence I would recommend myself to guide them.'

'That goes without saying, direct them as you please.'

Finally, after such a long day I am exhausted, though still full of energy, mentally I am drained. Good thing I am still a baby, I can just sleep whilst an empress caries me to my bed, this is the peak of what life has to offer.
