Chapter 9: Chapter 9 He never seemed to learn.

"I don't think he can do something like this," Kyra said softly, holding Lucas's hands. Though they had only known each other for a short time, she believed deep down that he would never behave that way.

"Kyra," Lucas's heart swelled with sweetness at the trust she had in him.

Their eyes locked, and an unspoken bond of understanding passed between them.

*Cough*

*Cough*

Gina faked a cough and interjected, "You guys can continue talking. Willson was calling me," she excused herself and hurried toward her husbands.

After Gina left, Lucas held Kyra's hands firmly and gave a stern look to Sally. "Don't lie, Sally. My Kyra doesn't believe you," Lucas spoke with arrogance.

His silver hair shone in the moonlight, making his face appear even more angelic. However, Lucas was anything but an angel.

"Okay, okay, I'll tell the truth," Sally glared back at Lucas. "But stop spreading rumors that our group of females likes you," she added confidently, and the other females behind her nodded in agreement.

"Huh?" Kyra looked puzzled now. Sally looked at Kyra with pity and said, "Kyra, dear, you have to believe us. Do you know why we beat him? It's because..." Sally proceeded to tell the whole story, and Kyra's eyes widened as she looked back at Lucas, who now appeared guilty.

"Lucas," Kyra spoke calmly, and Lucas pretended not to hear.

"Lucas, apologize to them. You did something wrong," Kyra insisted.

"Lucas..."

"Fine," Lucas muttered angrily as he looked at Sally and the group of female. "I'm sorry."

"It's okay. We're kind-hearted females, and we accept your apology," Sally replied, looking back at Kyra and mouthing the words 'thank you.' Kyra smiled.

"Let's go now," Lucas pulled Kyra's hand, leading her away from Sally and the females.

"..." Sally and the other females, who wanted to be friends with Kyra, watched them leave.

Meanwhile, Gina was complaining to her husband Willson, "Oh my goodness, did you know your son proposed to an entire group of female? He's just like you; none of my good features were passed down to him," she pouted.

Her other husbands hesitated as they looked at Willson, who appeared calm and expressionless. Even in his middle age, he still looked extraordinarily handsome.

"Yeah," he spoke.

Gina lightly hit his chest. "Did you know he even got beaten up by a group of girls?"

"Yeah," he replied, his expression still unchanged.

"You knew, but you didn't tell me?" Gina exclaimed in disbelief.

"I-I..." he stammered, looking panicked, while her other husbands facepalmed themselves.

Willson might have great strength and resilience, but his emotional intelligence had always been low. He never seemed to learn.
