Chapter 4: You need to hold yourself accountable.
I didn't write this. it popped up in my feed while randomly scrolling on f*cebook. But it goes in tune with a lot of what I've been saying. It's from Jordan Peterson and goes as such.
Tell the Truth—Or, At Least, Don't Lie.
Lying is very powerful because you can manipulate the world with your language. And you can get what you want lots of times; or escape from things you don't want.
So, why not lie all the time?
Well, there are a bunch of reasons, but one of them is that you can't trust yourself if you lie. And there are going to be times in your life when you have no one to turn to except yourself.
So, if you've stuffed yourself full of lies, you're going to be in a crisis one day, and you're going to have to make a decision, and you're going to decide wrong.
You won't have the clarity of mind necessary to make the proper judgment because you have filled your imagination and perception with rubbish.
Then, you're in real trouble.
And that was the post, I believed it would be best to share it here, I hope some of you can gain something from that.
Every action you take contributes to the shaping of your future self. Consistent visits to the gym build a foundation for a fit and healthy future, while prolonged periods on the couch indulging in potato chips and video games pave the way for a less desirable outcome. Your present choices inevitably mold the person you will become. Lying, most importantly and especially to yourself can be like poisoning your own mind.
