Chapter 8: Fight the fear

Blinking his eyes several times, not wanting to believe what he had just heard, Rakahn stared at Cliff, unsettled.

In the clans there was a list of monsters that should not be approached, these abominations were synonymous with fear for each person living in this forest and this Bear was one of them.

And the crazy thing is that they are going to fight him.

"I can not believe it."

Rakahn followed Cliff without saying a word, his hands held his swords tightly, Karhan honestly didn't know what he was holding if they were swords or not, it looked like an ax but the blades were long and curved and a long handle , he had inherited them from his clan when he took the place of patriarch during the war.

On the way they walked among the crushed bones of the bats, they were quickly approaching the place where the Bear was stationed, his heartbeat echoed through the cave, but he had a little hope the master cave or at least Cliff had explained the plan to him.

And with their combined forces they could... succeed? No, they had to succeed because in case of failure it meant death and this was the result that Rakhan feared the most.

Rakahn felt a strong aura coming from Cliff, his mana was dense that it gave him a hint of dangerousness, having him on his side can prove very beneficial.

Thought Rakahn his admiring eyes were pointed at Cliff who was walking in front of him.

Cliff stopped and waved with one hand, receiving the message Rakahn moved into position waiting for Cliff's signal.

There was silence in the cave until a growling sound rang out, swallowing his saliva Cliff waved to his companion and headed towards the Bear.

He strengthened his legs then rushed in the direction of the beast with his katana in hand he directed it into the abomination's torso with the intention of impaling it.

Unfortunately the beast did not give in.

A loud crack sounded, Cliff found himself thrown backwards as if he were nothing more than a sheet of paper.

His eyes wide, Cliff was surprised when he saw three large claw marks between his chest and his stomach, the pain was starting to be felt, but with his resistance a little high it was bearable.

Cliff stood up, he looked at the animal or rather the monster that had just hurt him with disdain; his eyes were full of anger, the sounds of the grinding of his teeth echoed in the corridors of the cave.

- "How dare you? miserable creature to spill my blood, I will make sure you regret what you do"

Cliff barked at the creature, daring to call The Bear "miserable creature" he didn't lack nerve, honestly if you looked at the animal and Him, it was Cliff who looked miserable.

The animal easily exceeded four meters in height and a line of three long and pointed horns on its forehead, each of its steps were so heavy that the earth shook under the weight of its paws, let's not even talk about its claws and its sharp fangs.

Cliff tore what was left of his t-shirt, with both hands he held his saber in front of him, he wanted to direct his mana into his arms trying to strengthen them, when he saw a paste heading in his direction.

Cliff quickly ducked to dodge, he felt a gust of wind caress his head, he sprinted to the side, a cold sweat ran down his back.

"She's fast, I could barely react!!!"

And he was right, despite his bulky mass the beast was still faster and agile it seemed as if he had full control of his body mass, the beast roared and rushed towards Cliff.

Cliff was overwhelmed, his rapid movements trying to follow the Bear's claws, he staggered in all directions trying to distance himself from the creature, thanking a hundred times for having learned different types of acrobatics, coupled with his new flexible body, his agility had greatly increased but nevertheless his ability to follow the movements of the abomination struggled.

"What the hell!!! I thought I was killing him? I'll end up being the one if I don't find an opening."

Cliff thought, holding his sword closed, infusing mana into both his legs and arms, his muscles contracted, he considered propelling his katana towards the creature's neck but he held back, his instincts screamed at him for danger. he abandoned his defensive positions.

Staggering back Cliff shouted:

- "Rakahn, NOW!!!!"

He had held the creature's full attention to give the young man a chance to attack from behind, at least that was part of the plan.

The young man jumped up and swung his swords towards the abomination's neck.

Rakahn's eyes were wide with terror when he heard his swords crunch on contact with the animal's fur, however he had left a wound, which reassured him that the animal was strong but not invincible.

He tumbled backwards, distancing himself, the beast's attention was directed towards him, Rakahn knew he couldn't keep his attention for long so he just needed a few seconds.

And it had only taken a fraction of those seconds to give Cliff a chance to attack...

A noise of grinding sounded behind the animal, we could see a blade protruding from the torso of the abomination, roaring in pain, the creature caught off guard gesticulated in all directions.

Cliff who, still clinging to his back, was trying to remove his saber which had found itself stuck between the bones of the beast, his body was swinging making him lose his balance.

Annoyed, he dropped his katana, which caused him to be thrown, he twisted his body to land on his feet, since he had no chance of facing him with his bare hands he signaled to Rakahn to lend him one of his swords.

He grabbed the sword that had been thrown by Rakahn with one hand and lunged at the animal that was still struggling with a blade that protruded from his torso, his body strengthened with all the mana he had left he dove at the beast with his saber aimed at the abomination's right flank.

Shlack!!!

The blade pierced his ribs, a great roar of terror and agony making the cave tremble, Rakahn looked at the scene in amazement, in his mind a myriad of thoughts bubbled.

"And to think that in the big list of monsters to avoid this abomination is one of the weakest"

Rakahn shook his head slightly to clear his thoughts.

He approached Cliff who was above the dying beast, he moved his saber under the creature's ribs, making it scream even more.

"It's really scary!!!, this animal must have done him a lot of harm in the past for him to act with such cold blood."

Rakahn wondered who the monster was here.

When the animal finished giving up the ghost, Cliff stood up and looked in Rakahn's direction, blood was streaming down his face, a widened smile distorted his lips, which made Rakahn shiver.

"He's a real monster!! » Rakahn whispered to himself.

-". Let's head towards your village, I think this quantity of meat can feed at least a hundred people... right?

Cliff asked.

Um... yes I think, that's just enough Lord Cliff. "

Rakahn replied, quickly heading towards the remains of the beast.

After fighting fiercely for their lives, they were now going to carve up their loot.
