Chapter 26: Ch 26: Kill the mother [pt1]

The giant Turkey boss was easily twice the size of a bus and looked angry.

It jumped into the air, and blades made of air flew toward everyone.

At the same time, the door connected to the outside also shut.

The only way out of this room was to kill the Turkey boss.

"Darn that Soma bastard. How dare he go out and leave us to deal with his mess? I will kill him once I find him."

Elric declared before he turned his focus toward the boss.

The blades of the wind hurt, and they cut deep into his skin.

Keeping tabs on the boss became problematic once the wind obstructed their vision and sent some weaker people flying.

"Everyone, our cooperation was not supposed to last this long, but I want to extend it a little longer. Let's take care of this boss as well."

Angelica declared, and everyone quickly joined her in attacking the boss.

...

"They all must be fuming right now. I will have to be careful around Elric in the future since he will try to kill me to get his revenge."

Soma quickly headed toward the central control panel, where he needed to insert the key and enter the second phase.

He wanted to do this alone since it was too dangerous.

Soma was not only going to finish this mission but also find the traitor of this planet that sent it off course toward the sun.

It was not a mission he was required to undertake, but Soma wanted to accomplish it anyway.

And the main reason behind it was only one - the outer entity.

Soma had read through his notes, and there was an essential point about the traitor of this planet that had been noted down in them.

According to the information Soma had received from his past (future) companions, the creature that caused this planet to go off-course was called Shuppet.

That person would later discover a fragment of the elder entity's power and try to revive it.

Anything the elder entity was involved in was bound to be destructive, so Soma did not hesitate to head toward the second part.

The entrance to the central control panel was a massive metallic door with a single keyhole.

Soma entered the key and turned it around to open the door.

This area had only become accessible once the other three gates had been taken care of.

[Access to Central Control Area had open. How long would you like to keep the door open?]

The answer had been forever during the last trial, but Soma decided to change it this time.

If someone else managed to sneak in here, then they would likely die.

[1 Minute]

Soma chose the shortest answer before he crossed over to the other side.

He decided to keep watch and ensure no one else would be able to enter the section.

Once it was clear that there was no one else on the other side, the door closed and locked itself.

Soma was the only one capable of opening this door again.

[Welcome to the Central Control Area. Initiating map….]

Soma looked down at the considerable massive map on his system screen.

The area was easily a kilometer huge and had no single beam of natural light inside.

Moreover, this core area only had a single safe zone - the starting area.

This place would be filled with monsters and other creatures starting from the next corridor.

Soma held his sword close and entered the first corridor.

[Swift steps have been activated]

[Master of Stealth has activated]

[Angle of agility has activated.]

The monsters never saw Soma heading their way.

He slit their wires or ended up freezing their system before these machines realized what was happening.

The first corridor was a breeze for him to overcome, but things would get challenging starting from the second corridor.

Soma would not be able to progress until he killed all creatures in a corridor, and this was where numbers mattered.

The larger creatures were easy to care for, but the smaller ones were annoyingly fast at escaping him.

[Hell fire has been used]

Soma let the flames consume everything, even the creatures, and it burned their system.

He avoided using the flames if they damaged anything he was not supposed to touch.

It took him two hours of running around and killing bugs, almost as fast as it had taken the people last to clear this corridor.

And then it was time for the third corridor.

The third corridor had a boss inside, and it was tricky to fight against that boss.

Before Soma entered the corridor, he knew what he would find: A chameleon boss monster that could change its body composition to camouflage with the environment.

This chamber had taken the most time and lives out of any chamber on this floor.

The boss was tricky and petite enough to slip out of most attacks.

So, Soma had to brainstorm for some time before he came up with a solution.

The boss will become alert the second Soma enters that room, and the game of chase will begin.

So, Soma did not enter the room at first.

He remained just out of the range and tried to throw his string.

Luckily, one of the threads managed to reach the boss, and things should be easy now that he had a way to find the boss.

Soma entered the room, and the Chameleon boss instantly became alert.

It did not hesitate to run when Soma attacked it with a sword, and its body vanished in thin air.

The string pulled Soma toward the boss, but aiming at the right place was tricky.

When it moved, the boss was also strong enough to pull Soma after it.

That caused Soma's aim to go off.

'Tsk, it's a good thing I can afford to miss a few attacks. I cannot afford to let go of this string.'

Soma held the string tightly, but he also allowed the tension in the string to go lax.

He did not want the boss to realize that it had been collared.

It attacked Soma, and he managed to dodge the attack only because he knew it was coming.

The boss seemed a little confused because Soma dodged suddenly, but Soma counted this as an opportunity to attack the boss back.

His sword cut through the boss's fragile joint, a lucky attack since Soma could not see where he was cutting.

The boss's camouflage failed to work when it was hurt.

It looked at Soma with an angry expression (as furious as a mechanical head could look) before turning invisible again.

Since one of the boss's limbs had been compromised already, it would prioritize escae.

There were two ways out of this room, and Soma blocked one of them with his flames.

As expected, the boss decided to take the other way out, and Soma pulled with all his might just as the boss reached the door.

It staggered the boss, and it fell.

The impact caused it to come out of the camouflage for a second, and Soma attacked it.

[Mind's eye has activated. You can now see the weaknesses of your enemies.]

Soma's ability showed him where to attack to kill this enemy.

It was a pity he could not use this monster as a puppet since it was damaged in the joints. It would take too much effort to keep it moving.

There needed to be a reward notification, which meant that this was useless labor that Soma had to undertake to accomplish his goal.

The next corridor was the one before the last, and it looked empty.

Soma knew what to do here because of his past life, and he was lucky to know.

He walked toward the center and noticed a giant shadow looming over his head.

Soma dodged before the body could fall on him and crush him.

'Ah, I remember this chamber. It killed the scout that went inside to check what the challenge was inside this chamber.'

Thousands of eyes looked at Soma from that giant spider face, and he held out his weapon to show he was ready.

Another petite body jumped toward Soma, but he noticed it since he was keeping an eye on the shadows.

He sent a flame upwards to burn the net these monsters were using, and they all dropped to the ground.

Soma had to fight about a dozen monsters to clear this chamber, but he knew his fundamental objective was the mother spider.

The number of monsters around him would never decrease if she were alive.

The smaller monsters attacked Soma, and he carefully dodged them to make his way toward the mother.

As soon as the number dropped below 10, the mother spider jumped back and started spinning another web.

It had finally started creating more monsters to replace the ones it had lost to Soma.

It was a matter of time before it overwhelmed Soma with its massive number.
