Chapter 35: Running From the Authorities
Zane stared sternly at the Corporal who was now insisting that he come along with them to the so called "safe zone" deeper in the center of the city. The last thing Zane wanted to do was be rounded up and used for manual labor, or worse, spare parts.
Such were the images his paranoid mind conjured when it came to the government and how it treated its citizens. On a normal day, you were lucky if the government didn't interfere with your lives, but during a crisis? You might as well be considered cattle. Or so was Zane's perspective.
Thus, he was quick to ask exactly what would happen if he refused. Knowing full well their answer would be that they would use force to drag him back to their base of operations.
"And if I refuse?"

Zentmeister Some of you may be aware of this, especially those who are on my discord server. But I have begun taking weight loss seriously and am back in the MMA gym for the first time in nearly three years.
Because of this, I have been not only been in the MMA gym every day of the week but also the weight lifting gym where I have been training for 4+ hours a day, and since I am so out of shape, I am incredibly fatigued today.
So I will just be posting one chapter today, and will be considering this a three-day weekend. As my normal posting schedule is 2 chapters every weekday and one chapter on weekends.
