Chapter 122: For Years

— Alexi POV — 

"Lili," I said, my hands shaking as I cupped her face and gently brushed my thumb over her cheek.

I could feel a dampness, was she crying? When had she started to cry?

Was she crying because she was afraid that I had feelings for her or afraid that I didn't?

Her words from earlier, "I need to know, Alexi, am I the only one or do you feel the same way as I do too?" 

That means she was probably crying because she was afraid I didn't feel the same way about her. 

How could I not?

"Lili," I said again, drawing her gaze to meet mine.

Her beautiful green eyes drew me in as they always did. Her eyes were the window to her soul, to me, and only to me did those marvelous emerald eyes betray how she felt.

They were cold and piercing in front of others, but with me, she never hid anything.
