Chapter 140: Starting My Escape

Pushing aside the memory of the both crunchy and squishy spidery snack, I encouraged my mouse to run.

The corridor was dark; not a single light could be seen to guide a person through what I was sure was a maze of hallways meant to confuse an individual. It was smart if you think about it…

And very human.

However, the strategy of trying to trap us inside if we were to escape would only work if we couldn't see where we were going. But shifters had the same night vision that their animals did, so as far as I was concerned, this was a futile effort meant to make the humans feel better.

My mouse continued to race forward, using the corner between where the walls and ceiling met as a guide.

It wasn't easy, and even though I had no problem seeing where I was going, that didn't mean that I had any idea where I was.
