Chapter 29: It's time to end it all

When Nero Claudius began her genocide operation against all people related to or associated with Agrippina, and spread her troops throughout every corner of Rome, somewhere in a villa owned by one of Agrippina's allies, the residents heard the commotion and shivered in fear upon receiving the news from their servants.

This fear stemmed particularly from the tyrant's notorious cruelty toward her enemies, a fact known to all.

Although they had distanced themselves politically and militarily from Agrippina long ago, they knew that the Emperor didn't care whether they were formerly or currently allies of Agrippina.

What she did was politically correct.

She massacred them in the name of grieving her brother, Britannicus, recently murdered by Agrippina indirectly through an assassination method.

Agrippina had fled long ago, indicating her guilt.

The tyrant showed no hesitation in ransacking their house, seizing their wealth, and committing massacres against them when she saw that the politics favored her, even though some pointed out this fact, they couldn't deny that using her brother's demise for revenge was a well-founded reason.

If she didn't avenge him, people would think she was a weak emperor.

However, they couldn't ignore the cruelty of the Emperor in massacring all people associated with Agrippina.

Yet, they didn't stop her or protest against her actions; they merely whispered about her cruelty in dinner gossip.

The human heart is complicated, but manipulation still worked.

How did they get the news of Britannicus' death?

The movement was significant and loud, especially the tyrant's slaughter, which did not go unnoticed by them; blood was spilled in every corner of Rome.

How did they not get news when the movement itself was so loud?

They didn't know whether the tyrant deliberately used her brother's death to display her power to them, but one thing was certain: they couldn't escape if they didn't stop the tyrant's madness.

They discussed among themselves how to counter the threat posed by Caesar.

Everything happened too fast for them to respond properly to the tyrant's madness.

Suddenly, all the gates of Rome were closed and tightly guarded, preventing their escape.

The blade was aimed at them without giving them a chance to react and defend against Caesar's wrath.

Diplomacy was undoubtedly ineffective; the tyrant had gone too far, and mercy was out of the question.

Both sides had reached an irreconcilable state.

Meanwhile, outside the villa, guards patrolled back and forth with tense expressions, aware that the tyrant was approaching.

The moon hung low in the night sky, casting an eerie glow over the silent villa.

The guards, clad in lorica segmentata, paced nervously outside, their eyes darting around uncertainly.

They didn't know how long she would take to arrive; reinforcements were not coming, as they were preoccupied with the tyrant's massacre, which had cut off all paths of escape and caught them off guard, slaughtering them in their sleep.

When they spotted a blonde-haired girl with emerald eyes accompanied by a centurion of Rome and archers surrounding their villa, the tension on their faces was evident.

One of the patrol guards wanted to negotiate. However, before he could speak, Nero slashed his throat, his eyes widening in disbelief at the tyrant's capricious nature.

Nero wasted no more time than necessary, signaling her soldiers to begin their slaughter according to Caesar's instructions.

In front of the well-trained centurions of Rome, the mere guards were nothing, and they were killed one by one.

She kicked the villa's front door brutally, grinning as she saw many people already present.

How convenient.

"Huh... It seems I don't need to find all of you for too long."

Nero chuckled darkly as they surrounded by centurion of Rome.

The centurions, disciplined and organized, form a closed formation around them, their weapons poised for the ruthless assault about to unfold.

Their imposing figures create an impenetrable barrier from all sides, the weight of their presence accentuating the inevitability of the massacre about to unfold.

Archers, shadows in the background, stand at the ready, arrows nocked and aimed with deadly precision.

The dim light casts shadows on Nero's face, highlighting the malevolence in her expression as she raises her hand, a signal that sets the relentless onslaught into motion.

"We think we need to talk, Caesar," one of them raised his hand and said.

"I don't think so," Nero's response is swift and merciless.

As her hand descends, a rain of arrows is unleashed with ruthless precision, tearing through the air towards the defenseless targets.

The inhabitants of the villa, caught in a whirlwind of chaos, scream in terror as the troops, led by Nero, charge without hesitation.

In front of well-equipped and armed centurions, they could only become lambs to slaughter, no matter how high their martial art was.

Without weapons in their hands, only bloody daggers, their last resistance is futile.

Presumably, their guards outside have already been slaughtered, which is why no one stands for them when they scream.

Even as they run away, pushing hard against their friends or foes alike, Nero stands at the forefront and personally slashes their way to escape as blood spills on her face.

Her evil grin forces them to step back fearfully.

The shield wall formation closes all of their paths; no matter how hard they push against it, they would be knocked down by a rain of arrows and stabbed by the swords in the centurions' hands.

The screams, the blood, the burning mansion – all inhabitants of the villa were killed without leaving a single trace of life behind.
