The two essence didn't reach equilibrium because the dark phoenix fire extreme yang SR had a greater connection to ken than the frozen nova ice extreme yin SR which came from a woman.
After feeding the extreme yin more qi than the extreme yang which both protested against but had to eventually accept because of the absence of any other qi they started to reach equilibrium.
Ken was happy with the result but he knew the worst pain was yet to come so he quickly slit their throats to leave no evidence of his experiment and started to get ready.
The void spiritual root who was like a quiet ocean began to form ripples that slowly changed into waves caused by two cyclone trying to devour each other but the ice blue colored cyclone began to lose that is when additional wind was added to both cyclones to stabilize the deep orange and ice blue cyclones.
And started merge together and sink into the depth if the vast ocean which accelerated their merging until they stated to pulsate a unique vibration and transform into pollute the ocean and made condense into a milky violet liquid.
