Maximus sat in the chair as he looked at the rogues sitting on their knees with their hands tied behind their backs and a gag in their mouths.
"Everyone, leave the room except Jacob and Roy," Maximus said, his ocean-blue eyes becoming darker with each passing second as he looked at the rogues who tried to hurt his woman.
As soon as he gave the orders, the men left the half, and Roy looked at Jacob, who shook his head at him.
The indication was clear. If they wanted to live, they should refrain themselves from making any rash comments.
"I will ask you one question. One question, one answer. No answer, you die. Are the rules clear?" Maximus asked, his soft demeanour long buried inside his heart into a corner no one apart from Delilah could reach.
He stood from his place and crouched on his knees to face the rogues, gripping the face of one of the rogues in his hands, loving the sight of fear in his eyes.
