Chapter 91: Shadow Concubine

—-

Shadow Seamstress (Elite)

Lv 19 (Tier 1)

Attack: ★★★★☆

Defense: ★★★

HP: 3800

Skills: Shadow Stitching, Spectral Needlework

—-

The Shadow Seamstress began her attack as Samar was checking her stats. Pitch black tendrils of shadow formed into threads and shot towards Samar, stitching a web around him in a matter of moments.

"Incredible!" Samar couldn't help but exclaim as his legs were wrapped by the shadowy threads, reducing his mobility. He already felt that the Shadow Weavers in the Virident Forest were OP but Shadow Seamstresses seemed to take the game a step further.

The threads were quickly binding his lower body and moving further up. If he did not take action soon, he would be wrapped up in a cocoon of his own within a few seconds!

Samar readied a Tier 1 Powershot aimed at one of the weaknesses he had identified earlier, the Spider Seamstress' exposed heart. Just as the shadows reached his torso, he let loose his fully drawn bowstring with a loud twang.

-3800 (Lethal Strike!)

[You have killed an Lv19 Elite, Shadow Seamstress. You have received 1490 Exp.]

The results shocked Samar! His arrow had punched a hole through the supple left breast of the Shadow Seamstress and pierced her heart, completely destroying it!

Samar was not arrogant enough to think it was just his skills at work; The additional 25 Luck points had also played an important role in securing the Lethal Strike.

He walked over and picked up the drops, a bundle of Shadow Yarn and 4 Yew Needles, before searching for a new target deeper inside the nest.

Another hour passed quickly. Samar had killed 15 Shadow Seamstresses so far and completed the quest from Elven Military but he needed to kill just one more to level up.

He had wandered to the edge of the core area while searching for his next prey and finally spotted her, the last Shadow Seamstress who would push his level to Lv19.

The Shadow Seamstress was still nearly 80 meters away from Samar but that did not stop him from taking an aim at her heart from the back, like he had done dozen times before.

He charged the Powershot and let it loose, watching it fly across the distance and stab straight into her back. However, the deep red colored letters denoting Lethal Strike never appeared. Instead, a red number floated above her head that read -1145 (Crit).

Chiik! Chiik!

A scream louder than a banshee sounded in his ears as the Shadow Seamstress turned around. Her visage shocked Samar. Not only was she hideous looking and fat, her level was higher than the other Shadow Seamstresses!

When he checked her stats page, he realized it was not an ordinary Shadow Seamstress but a Mini-Boss monster, Shadow Concubine!

This Shadow Concubine had already reached Lv20, crossing a watershed. Due to this, all her stats were nearly 15% higher than all the other Shadow Seamstresses!

Samar did not let her increased stats deter him and notched another arrow on his bow. Before he could attack, the Shadow Concubine had already started her offensive.

The air in the surroundings suddenly became colder and the meager light in the nest was further reduced. Threads made from shadows, thick and thin, quickly formed around his figure, intent on wrapping him up like a mummy.

At the same time, hundreds of Spectral Needles floated around him, each exuding an eerie gray light. If all of them hit him, Samar had no doubt that he would lose a level here.

In this dire situation, Samar took out a steely object from his inventory.

"I was saving this for Arachnos but you should have a taste first!"

Saying these words, he tossed the ball towards the Lv20 Shadow Seamstress and turned away, tightly covering his eyes.

This was the most important product he had purchased from the Miscellaneous Goods Shop, the Flash Bang.

An intense white light flashed the moment the metallic object landed on the floor. Shadow Seamstress, a creature of darkness could not cope with such a bright light. All of her Shadow Threads were destroyed and she lost control of her Spectral Needles.

The strong flash had also weakened her by 20%!

Cheeiik! Cheiiik!

Samar opened his eyes when he heard the shrieks of the Shadow Seamstress. Seeing the effects of the Flash Bang, his eyes lit up with joy.

While the Shadow Concubine was blinded and recovering, he launched the Tier 1 Rapid Shot.

He notched two arrows on the bowstring at the same time and let them loose and then launched four more rounds of the same. None of his ten arrows missed but the damage they dealt was also not enough to bring down the monster.

Samar activated the Tier 1 Powershot which had just come off cooldown once again. With Bowstring drawn all the way up to his cheek, Samar let the arrow fly.

The arrow, aimed at the monster's heart, cut through air but it faced a giant obstacle in its way; two jiggling mounds of flesh hanging on the Shadow Seamstress' chest.

It failed to penetrate her giant breasts and reach all the way to her heart and a critical hit was triggered instead of the Lethal Strike that Samar hoped for.

-1159 (Crit)

Despite that, the damage dealt was enough to empty the remaining Health Bar of the Shadow Concubine. She shrieked with pain and unwillingness as she turned into shadowy gray dust, leaving behind three different types of loot.

[You have killed Lv20 Rare Elite, Shadow Concubine. You have earned 3880 Exp.]

The moment she died a loud roar echoed from the depths of the nest.

'Did the New Moon Legion provoke the Sun Blight Spider?' Samar wondered but he was in no rush to reach them.

Arachnos was one of the Three Ferocities; if it could be felled so easily, its reputation would have been in vain.

Samar leisurely picked up the loot and inspected it. First item was a Shadow Yarn, an excellent crafting material coveted by Tailors and Weavers.

The Shadow Seamstress had also dropped 5 Yew Needles that could be used as tools or hidden weapons. These two drops were common drops from the Shadow Seamstresses.

However, the Shadow Concubine had also dropped something else.

An Earring, not two but just one. It was a beautiful accessory with a thumbnail sized amethyst embedded in it.

Samar appreciated its beauty but he was more interested in its stats.

Nightshade Earring (Left)

Grade: Black-Stone

Equip Requirements: 10 Dexterity, 15 Intelligence

Dark Resistance: +5%

[Set Effect 'Shadowmeld' unactivated]

- This Earring was gifted by the Sun Blight Spider Arachnos to his favorite concubine.

—-

The implications of what he had just read hit Samar.

He had just killed the Sun Blight Spider's most favored concubine!

It meant the New Moon Legion had not found the Arachnos but it was angry because it sensed its favorite concubine's death!

Roar! The outraged cry of the Sun Blight Spider sounded again and the entire nest shook.

"Damn!"

Samar cursed as he had a feeling that the roar was closer to him than before.

'Does that mean Arachnos can sense my position?'

Thinking quickly, Samar moved away from his location. He skirted the edge of the inner area and moved towards the lights he had seen from the skills of the New Moon Legion members.

Then he camped some distance away from them, waiting to fish in the waters he had muddied.
