Chapter 65 Can You Take Me With You?

The spiked knuckles struck General Zod's forehead with a resounding force, the sheer power and special material effortlessly penetrating his skull.

Whoosh—!

At that moment, a cold, fierce wind swept through, whipping Batman's cape and carrying the air of violence away from the scene.

General Zod's bloodshot eyes stared forward, a fierce expression frozen on his face, making his contorted visage even more horrifying. A gaping wound marred his forehead, the massive force creating cracks in his skull. It was unimaginable that a mere human could inflict such damage.

Seeing General Zod dead with an expression of unwillingness, the old Batman slowly straightened up.

"He shouldn't be getting up again, right?" Bruce Wayne's voice was hoarse.

"He has no signs of life. Don't worry, he won't be getting up again." Austin walked briskly to the side of the old Batman, his tone light and relaxed.

It was understandable why old Bruce Wayne would ask such a question. During his time in Gotham, Batman had witnessed various powerful villains rise from the dead. So, when facing an alien capable of immense destruction, Batman naturally remained cautious.

If General Zod had the ability to resurrect or if someone took an interest in his corpse, it would spell disaster for Earth in this universe.

"I know what you're thinking. Don't worry, he's dead. On this planet, his body will decay like any other person soon enough," Austin explained.

"Can you guarantee that the life forms on this planet won't be affected by his corpse?" Batman looked up at the spectacular sky, a sight never seen on Earth, and asked quietly.

"Rest assured, the civilization on this planet hasn't even discovered fire. By the time the natives gain intelligence, General Zod's body will have long turned to fossils, and his armor will have been broken down and reconstituted by nature," Austin shrugged, continuing.

"I told you, I chose this place specifically for his grave. I've considered these factors. What you should be worrying about now is the military. After all, it's an alien invasion, and they've had a battle with Earth's superhumans. If this gets exposed, you can forget about a peaceful retirement."

Upon hearing this, the old Batman silently turned his head and gazed deeply at Austin.

"But none of that matters," Bruce Wayne said, his voice steady. "I don't want to know how you managed to traverse the universe in an instant or how you found this planet so quickly. I just feel that, compared to Zod, you are far more dangerous."

Austin chuckled lightly, masking his inner sigh of resignation. "Maybe," he said.

The truth was, Austin's current combat abilities might not be formidable, but the fact that he could freely traverse multiple universes was enough to make many wary of him.

Moreover, the TemPad he possessed allowed him to jump to any point in time within a scanned universe. Austin was acutely aware of how terrifying this power could be.

The old adage, "A gentleman is not guilty, but his wealth is his crime," held true. If mere wariness was the extent of it, it would be manageable. But if ambitious villains learned about the TemPad, it could spell unpredictable danger for the entire multiverse.

"Don't worry," Austin assured. "I'll rest for a bit and leave this universe tomorrow."

"Austin, I'm not trying to push you out," Bruce Wayne hesitated before speaking slowly.

"I understand. But that was always my plan. Now that General Zod is dealt with, there's no reason for me to stay. Besides, this universe has just escaped from the brink of destruction. If we, who don't belong here, linger, who knows what might happen?"

Bruce understood Austin was giving him a graceful way out. He didn't push the point, as his own thoughts aligned with Austin's. He wanted Austin, Barry Allen, and the others to leave this universe soon, though he felt it improper to say so outright.

After all, they had fought together, and Austin and Pietro had come to help. Asking them to leave right after the battle felt like burning bridges, something old Batman couldn't bring himself to do.

Since Austin had decided to leave on his own, Bruce felt a bit relieved.

"You really don't want a Batsuit? I can have one made to fit your specifications."

Hearing this, Austin couldn't help but smile under his mask. Was Bruce Wayne feeling guilty? That was a first.

"No need. I think this trench coat suits me just fine. Besides, I'm not a superhero. For someone like me who takes things as they come, the less conspicuous, the better."

Batman returned his gaze and nodded slightly.

"Yes, indeed."

By the time everyone returned to the Batcave, it was already late at night. Pietro and Barry Allen were laughing and joking around, their nerves finally relaxing after dealing with such a significant threat.

Barry Allen had realized his mistake through this ordeal. He decided to go back in time and restore the original timeline. This time, he wouldn't change anything or alert anyone.

Although it's said that a broken mirror cannot be mended, Barry was determined to do his best to fix it and allow the timeline to progress as it originally should have in his universe.

Austin supported this decision. In the previous life, at the end of the Flash movie, Barry Allen had once again altered the timeline after destroying this universe. And this time, instead of saving his mother, he helped his father find evidence to get off the hook.

It was frustrating. After everything he'd been through, the Flash in that movie hadn't learned his lesson.

As for Supergirl, Kara, Austin took her to see General Zod's body.

Under the setting sun, Kara stood calmly before Zod's grave. Her eyes no longer held any negative emotions; instead, they were unusually serene, as if she had entered a state of emptiness after her revenge.

"I didn't let you kill him yourself to avenge your brother. You're not angry with me, are you?" Austin stood beside Kara, holding a large black umbrella to shield her from the red sun's rays.

Kara shook her head gently at his words.

"No, if it weren't for you, I might never have avenged him. General Zod was genetically engineered for battle on Krypton, whereas I am just a scientist. Even if we were in the same condition, I could never be his match."

Austin smiled but didn't respond.

In fact, after being infused with Krypton's Codex, Kara's genetic makeup had undergone a drastic transformation. She just needed time to grow, much like Superman.

"I heard that you guys are leaving tomorrow?"

Suddenly, Kara broke the silence.

"Ah, yes," Austin replied.

Hearing Austin's reply, Kara turned her head to lock eyes with Austin and opened her mouth to ask.

"Can you take me with you?"
