Sitting in front of the mirror, Lily touched the side of her face where the ceramic plate had cut her.

"It stings," she muttered, trying to clean it by herself, but her hand wasn't steady. The girl let out a frustrated sigh. This was the reason she never tried to come back home, all these years. It was either her father forcing her to study something she wasn't interested in, or his wife throwing harsh words at her. Lily dropped the cotton bud she was holding and went to rest her back on the bed.

Close to her bed was a picture of her own mother, who died when she was young according to what she was told. She held the picture frame close to her chest.
