Chapter 31: Talk With Grandpa (2)

Before long, Old Donovan said, "Bella, I'm sorry. My useless children were rude to you. They don't deserve to be called uncles and fathers. Grandpa agrees if you want to sever a tie with them."

Bella's face stiffens slowly as she remembers what happened earlier. But she dismisses her anger, not wanting her Grandfather to be sad. 

"It's okay, Grandpa. What they did earlier was nothing compared to the treatment I've got at the Sinclair family's house—" Bella almost choked when she said those names.

After a long moment, Old Donovan said, "I'm sorry, Bella. If it weren't for my stupid promise to Old Sinclair, you wouldn't have married Tristan and endured the suffering when living with him..."

Bella's heart ached to see her Grandfather's face filled with regret. Even though he lowered his gaze, avoiding Bella from looking into his eyes, she could see her Grandfather's eyes filled with tears.
