The Engagement

Sarah's POV:

They all stared at me like they had seen a ghost. Didn't Jacob tell them that I had a kid?

"Yes, this is my daughter, Amber." 

Amber smiled at them; they nodded and stared at Jacob, who turned to me. "Amber is a lovely kid; I am sure you will all bond perfectly well," he explained before we both sat on a couch with Amber.

"How about we all have dinner first? "Mrs. Tyler asked, and they all agreed before we moved to the dining table.

I sat next to Amber and Jacob, and as they dug in, I took a dish and served Amber. "Eat slowly, okay?" I whispered when I felt Jacob's parents gaze at me. I turned and smiled at them.

Lara kept giving me signals, but I didn't get them. She used her eyes to point at Jacob. I stared at him and discovered he wasn't eating, so I picked up a plate, dished his meal, and placed it in front of him before I moved closer and whispered.

"Did you tell your parents that I proposed to you?"
