HIS RETURN

"Turn to the left dear." The old woman said placing a measuring tape around my body and I did turn around.

It's been a week since I arrived. A long frustrating week. Father never brought the things he promised, it seems I'll have to visit them myself to get my things myself. I had found out the next day the rain had spoilt my cellphone and I didn't have any money to get a new one. It's one of the reasons I've been searching for a job relentlessly even if I barely had any luck lately. I sighed.

At times it feels like someone out there is watching my every move and destroying it before I get there. Though the news about my marraige with Dalton Bancroft wasn't public yet, I thought things would be a lot easier especially being a part of their family now. Bit it only turned harder.

"We need it ready in three days for the traditional Marraige rites as always." The lady said and the advanced woman smiled. Even if Dalton had asked her not to rush things, she still did what she wanted.

From her action I could already tell she had our wedding date and is waiting for the right time to announce. She could as well just turn young and get married again cause this marraige is no longer between I and Dalton. It's now between the lady and us.

The thought of finally being married and belonging to that man scared me and I had no idea why. I haven't stopped thinking about the strange crazy man I met that night. Everyday I pray and hope he doesn't come here cause it seems like the butler already knows who he is.

He seemed to be well aquatinted with the Bancroft's, maybe that's the reason he wasn't scared when I mentioned them.

The thought of what if he arrives and tell them everything that happened in that car scares me.

He wouldn't dare.' I bit my lips at my thought. If he does he would be exposing himself too. I was only a girl in a drastic situation and rather than helping me, he tried to take advantage of the situation.

"Yes and I love that you don't play with these rites." I heard the woman say. I must have missed a whole bunch of gibberish.

"Of course I wouldn't." I truly haven't found the need for these traditional Marraige rites but the lady seems to be deeply rooted in it. Agnes has explained little of it to me, saying it's the Bancroft's custom. The tradition has been like this for years. Every woman must perform the rites for a fruitful marriage.

"You have an exquisite body Adara." The old woman said for the 100th times since she started measuring me. And for all the times she said it I still said a, "Thank you."

Once she was done measuring me she brought out a few material from her bag displaying them before the lady.

"What do you think?" The woman asked us.

"Let the bride decide that Modella." They both turned to me, waiting for me to choose from the material the woman had displayed even if I could see the lady itching to decide this too.

There were four beautiful materials of different colors and designs, it was hard for me to choose cause all of them are beautiful. Giving the lady the pleasure to choose for me was the last thing I wanted but I was barely interested in any of this.

"I don't know which one to pick." I confessed truthfully and the old woman laughed.

"Why don't you let the lady select the material for you. She's been doing this for years." She asked as if I've been making the decisions about my own wedding. I turned to the lady and she pointed the red one filled with crystal sparkle.

"It's her traditional rites, I want attention on the bride alone." Modella nodded and kept the red material aside from the rest.

Just as we stood there still staring at the outfit designs, the butler walked in. His steps were quick as if he was being chased by something. "Madam." He called trying to catch his breath and the lady turned to his direction.

"Young master has arrived."

"Dalton?"

"No." She frowned slightly at the man's words. She didn't bother to hide her malice towards whoever it was that had arrived.

"Well, let's go welcome my step son. It seems he's back." She rose.

"Adara come with me." I got up too at her words wondering who it was that has got her in this terrible mood. I've heard a few stories about the said young master from Agnes and I've wondered what the man that has the same story as mine looked like in person .

The last I wanted was to get caught up in their mess but it seems the lady is already involving me in it.

We left the room and back to the lounge to see a tall figure walking up the stairs. He was in a black suit with a small man tailing behind him.

"Evren." The lady called and he paused to turn to our direction. My breath caught up in my throat at her words.

Did I hear correctly?

Did she say Evren?

All colours drained from my skin as I saw him again. Even if I couldn't memorize his features, I knew those eyes and hair from anywhere.

The silver eyes and hair, it made him stand out from anyone I've met...

His had no warmth in them this time. Just cold and empty like they were when I stepped out of the car that night. His face held no emotion as he stared at her.

"You finally came back since you decided your brother's introductory party was not important." The lady said for him to frown slightly. I saw no resemblance between him and Dalton to even call them brothers, but then he has a different mother so it was understandable.

Agnes was right, he's more handsome that his brother. I had wished to see his face in bright light that night, and now I did, my heart hasn't stopped beating fast.

My fear was back. The person I dreaded the most was just a few steps away from me.

I prayed inwardly not to be recognized by him. I doubt he would still recognize me, there's a huge difference between the way I looked now and a week ago.

"Send trained assassin's next time if you don't want me to return or your son gets punished." He said lazily and turned to leave and my breath rushed out of me. He suddenly stopped after climbing two stairs.

Those pair of silver eyes turned to me and I stopped breathing. His eyes lingered around me for the longest moment and then settled on my face, I quickly pulled my gaze from his.

It is really Evren... The man that stole my first kiss and claimed me.

Why do I have unlucky fate? Why is he the one related to Dalton of all people in this world?

No wonder he wasn't scared when I mentioned Dalton Bancroft cause he's also a Bancroft. I bit my lips.

I couldn't stop my heart from beating so fast and I was scared the lady might hear it. Her eyes shifted from him to me and then back to him. This crazy man wasn't hiding his stare.

I felt hot immediately. It felt like my skin was on fire and I was sure I had turned red again.

"I'll keep that in mind." The lady said.

"She's Adara your brother's wife to be. You usually don't come here anymore why are you back?" I peeked at him to see his eyes were still on me and I shifted my gaze quickly again.

"I came back to get what's mine. I'll leave when I'm done." Evren said and I could already tell he was talking to me.

I'm not his, even if I had agreed that night, it was because of the things he did to me.

I knew I was in trouble. Evren's presence here would put me in so much trouble.

He walked away without another word and I didn't breath till I was sure he was gone completely.
