Chapter 9: A dance with my wolf.

She turned around and held her chest.

"I am so sorry. I didn't mean to startle you." I apologized immediately.

"It's fine. I just didn't think anyone would be here." She told me with a little smile.

We were both silent for a while. I looked at her and I couldn't help but stare. She was wearing a mask but she still looked stunning especially on the black dress.

"She-wolves shouldn't be alone."

"Well, I am not a damsel in distress. I can take care of myself." She told me and rolled her eyes. Wow! She is a tough one.

"So, what is a pretty girl like you doing here all alone?" I asked. I was just curious.

"That shouldn't be your concern." she told me.

"That's true. But you never know, I might be of help." I tried convincing her.

She looked at me and sighed. I gave her one of my enchanting smiles.

"It's complicated." She finally said.

"Try me."

She looked at me with her grey eyes. She looked so beautiful. I could see a little bit of doubt in her face. "Well, he is the only one who can help me find the people I am looking for. I heard he is the most powerful alpha and is well gifted and connected. So, I need him."

A more powerful alpha than me? I could hardly believe that. From the way she talked, she was distressed and confused.

"So, you are going to use him?" I asked. Just wanted to be sure.

"Don't make sound bad if not I will feel bad."

I laughed making her laugh as well. God! She looked so good!

"Besides, I am not just going to use him. I will trade something in return."

"Hmm." Was all I could say. What could she possibly have that an alpha doesn't. but I really wanted to know this alpha. she might be mistaken and I might just end up helping her.

"And what might be the name of this alpha?" I asked. She looked not convinced, like she wasn't going to tell me. I wasn't going to push it. It was her problem after all. I was about to give up and leave when she said the name.

"Elpis." She said, "Elpis Kane, alpha of blood moon pack."

I was taken aback for a while but it was understandable, I was the most powerful alpha after all. But what I do not understand is what could she possibly want from me. she doesn't look like someone in need of marriage and I am sure she is not here to kill me. She doesn't look that capable.

"There goes my angel." she said when she felt I wasn't going to give her an answer.

she left and headed for the ball room. I looked at her as she left and I couldn't help but feel something pull me towards her. I watched her go and I followed; I didn't even know why.

Just as she was about to get down the stairs, I gently grabbed her hand and took her to the dance floor. No one dared to join us on the dance floor. Everyone just watched.

"A dance you want? a dance you shall get wolf."

I don't really do favors like this but this was different. I just wanted to help her. Maybe it is because I was somehow involved and I was interested in knowing what she wanted or did I just want her? all of her?

As we dance, everyone stared at us. She looked around happy. At this point I was confused. I couldn't really understand what she wanted to do anymore. She was an elegant dancer; just like me. I looked at her and I couldn't help but imagine what was under that mask.

"Elpis Kane?" she asked as we dance. It was a traditional so we followed the steps and talked.

"The one and only." I told her.

"Why didn't you tell me that upstairs?"

"Where is the fun in that?" I asked her. "You needed help with something and I came. That is what I always do."

She smiled, revealing a nice beautiful set of teeth.

We made a few spins and continued to dance. We were so close to each other that our lips almost touched. My chest raced as I watched her. in all my life, no one has ever made eye contact with like this woman. She looked at me like I was a mere wolf and it felt nice. I have never really been treated as a person more like a fear god or something.

"No one else is dancing with us. Are they scared of you?" she asked. Of course, they are darling, I said in my head. Why won't they be? After all, I am not the most powerful alpha for no reason.

"Are you afraid of me." I asked her.

"Should I?" she threw the question back to me. I didn't know what to answer but I love the look on her face at the moment. It had this glow to it that I can't explain. She looked so pretty. We made a few spins and made her fall while I held her leg and waist. We finished the dance and bowed.

"I hope you have gotten what you want. I hope I see you again wolf." I say to her and left.

After the attention we drew, I saw sure a lot of people, especially the she-wolves will come up to me so I stayed hidden. I looked from the side and saw Eliot approach for a dance and his bride's face. God! Eliot has no shame. If I saw his bride, I will not go through with the marriage. Drake walked up to me and bowed.

"Give me a pen and paper" I ordered.

He handed it to me. I wrote a little letter for my wolf and handed it to Drake.

"Give it to the wolf I danced with."

I watched as Drake gave her the note and she smile. It made me smile. I know she has something big up her sleeve but I have something bigger.
