"See, this is why I hate maths, they're always talking about x and y when they should be talking about u and I," Jason smoothly delivered the pick-up line with nary a glance in Sofia's direction, but the silence after he finished talking made him involuntarily look over at Sofia.
Jason locked eyes with Sofia who was looking at him over five different emotions in her eyes that made for a complicated look before she turned away with a little laugh as she muttered,
"Good one."
Sofia went back to talking about what she was saying earlier, but her tone had noticeably softened.
The evening passed in a blur and Jason was already seeing improvements in their relationship, but it wasn't yet time to move even further because, despite the improvements, he knew he could not be hasty.
Or at least that's what the chronicles of romance that he was spending all his time researching pointed at.
