Chapter 124: Chapter 118: Interruption

Another wave of dust billowed out, shrouding the area in a hazy veil. Uvogin squinted through the thickening murk, his senses on high alert as he scanned for any hint of movement.

But even as the dust began to settle, there was no sign of Kurapika.

"...!"

Uvogin's eyes widened just in time to catch a glint of metal slicing through the air—a sharp chain hurtling toward him with deadly accuracy.

"...So annoying," He clicked his tongue before reacting swiftly as he rolled across the uneven ground, narrowly evading the lethal strike.

BOOM!

The impact of the chain meeting the earth sent shockwaves reverberating through the wasteland, a thunderous boom echoing in its wake.

As the dust cleared, revealing the aftermath of the near miss, Kurapika's figure emerged and stood on the edge of the terrain.

"..."

His gaze locked onto Uvogin with unwavering intensity.

"The way he uses his chain," Uvogin silently thought as his eyes gleamed in realization, "This fucker must be either a Manipulator or Conjurer!"

But Kurapika's assault was far from over.

"Pay for your sins with your life!"

With a fierce cry, he launched himself into another attack, his arm slicing through the air with lethal intent.

Uvogin's lips curled into a sneer, "Crazy bastard..."

As Kurapika's chain whistled toward him, Uvogin reacted with lightning speed, evading the deadly arc by leaping backward.

"Hah! You're repeating yourself!"

Uvogin scoffed as his keen eyes tracked the trajectory of the chain, analyzing its movements with a quick glance before refocusing on his adversary.

Before he could even land from his evasive maneuver, another assault was already hurtling toward him.

"This much won't end me but I will end y---!!!"

Uvogin barely had time to brace himself, throwing his arm up in a futile attempt to defend against the incoming blow.

The impact reverberated through his entire body, surprising him with its ferocity.

His eyes widened in shock as the force of the attack sent him hurtling backwards, crashing through the unforgiving earth with a deafening roar.

Another thunderous boom echoed across the battlefield, marking the devastating impact of Kurapika's relentless onslaught.

"What the hell is wrong with this chain?"

Uvogin grunted inwardly, feeling the heaviness upon contact with Kurapika's chain which even made an enhancer like him feel a bit of pain.

With a powerful leap, he propelled himself out of the crater left by their clash, his muscles tensed and ready for the next exchange.

"Hahaha... This is quite exhilarating, isn't it?"

Uvogin's laughter boomed across the battlefield, punctuated by the excitement coursing through his veins.

"Great! It seems you won't be a boring opponent... Hmm?"

His amusement turned to alarm as he scanned the area, searching for Kurapika's elusive form.

Before he could pinpoint his opponent's location, a sudden surge of instinct sent a shiver down his spine.

"Shit, he's above me!"

With lightning reflexes, Uvogin looked up just in time to see Kurapika's figure materialize above him, a deadly fist hurtling toward his skull.

The impact was devastating, sending shockwaves rippling through the air as Uvogin grunted in agony, his teeth clenched against the searing pain.

"You..."

Uvogin whirled around, his muscles coiling like springs as he prepared to launch a vicious counterattack.

"I'll kill you slowly and painfully, you bastard!"

But his threat was cut short by a chilling interruption.

"You talk too much..."

The icy words sliced through the air, eliciting a low growl of frustration from Uvogin.

He sensed a shift in the atmosphere, a subtle change in the wind that hinted at impending danger.

"...Shit!"

With a sharp intake of breath, he braced himself, but it was already too late.

Kurapika moved with lightning speed, his feet a blur as they closed in on Uvogin's head.

It was as if he had anticipated Uvogin's every move, reacting with preternatural precision.

The impact was brutal, distorting Uvogin's features into a grotesque mask of pain.

He was sent hurtling through the desolate wasteland, tumbling across the unforgiving terrain like a ragdoll.

"Ugrhh..."

With sheer determination, he fought against the momentum, finally coming to a stop and regaining his footing amidst the chaos.

"...What's this? I thought he was either a manipulator or a conjurer with that chain," Uvogin pondered silently, his gaze fixed firmly on Kurapika, blood staining his lips.

But Kurapika remained unnervingly composed, his expression devoid of emotion, as if victory were already assured.

"You fucker...!!"

The sight only served to stoke the flames of Uvogin's fury, causing veins to bulge at his temples as a powerful surge of Nen energy surged around him.

However...

"Huh?"

To his dismay, Uvogin suddenly felt as though invisible bonds were constricting around him, restraining his movements.

"...!"

His alarm rang as he immediately channeled his Nen into his eyes, widening them in shock as he beheld Kurapika's chain wrapped tightly around his body.

"...What?"

To his horror, Uvogin found himself unable to break free from the chain's restraints.

He struggled to channel his Nen throughout his body, but it was as if an unseen force blocked his efforts.

"..."

Kurapika advanced slowly, his steps measured and deliberate.

"You can't escape unless you possess the physical strength to shatter these chains," Kurapika stated calmly, his eyes locked on Uvogin's.

"..."

Uvogin remained silent, his mind racing as he continued to strain against the invisible bonds.

Each attempt to muster his Nen was met with frustration and failure.

"What have you done—Guhak!"

The punch landed squarely on Uvogin's face, eliciting a grunt of pain.

"My chain will force you to be in a state of Zetsu. That's why you are unable to channel your Nen as you wish..."

"..."

He shot Kurapika a venomous glare.

"You're the physically strongest among the spiders. That's why I chose you as my first target, and you delivered yourself to me. Very clever..."

Kurapika's eyes gleamed with satisfaction.

With Uvogin rendered helpless by his Judgment Chain, he knew the other members of the Phantom Troupe would be equally vulnerable.

Though Kurapika had imposed a strict rule on himself to only use his abilities against the Phantom Troupe, seeing his plan come to fruition filled him with a sense of vindication.

"...Kill me," Uvogin's voice cut through the tension.

He knew escape was futile, acceptance of his fate the only option.

Death held no fear for Uvogin.

He had witnessed countless lives snuffed out, and the concept of mortality held no sway over him.

To him, life and death were simple truths: kill or be killed.

Tap... tap... tap...

"That's my plan, after I've tortured you for information, but..." Kurapika's voice was calm, though his gaze shifted past Uvogin to the two figures approaching.

Among them was a middle-aged man with grey hair and an unfamiliar woman with purple hair.

Kurapika gritted his teeth, addressing the man directly, "...Are you really going to interfere, Sakujiro-san?"

Sakujiro remained silent, his expression inscrutable as he turned to the woman beside him.

She scratched her head in annoyance before speaking, "...I'm not sure if this will work, so don't blame me if things go wrong."

The tension thickened as Kurapika frowned at their exchange.

He needed to hear their explanation, to understand their motives and what Raymond was planning!
